New Supercharger locations in 2017, WA

"Exact timing and specific location may vary"

In Portland they show two, one in downtown and the other in Tigard which happens to be where the service center is. I suspect the Seattle and Bellevue locations might be planned for the service centers there.
Could be. I know there's a supercharger at the Bellevue service center already as I've seen it with my app while my X was there for service. Yes, I know it's not for public use. I would imagine the Seattle service center has one too.

Hard to imagine where they would put a supercharger at the Seattle service center. They are fairly cramped for space there. I know they have that triangle shaped parking lot down at the other end of the block but it is basically always full of Teslas (presumably cars they are working on and cars that are about to be delivered).

Yeah, if they really want to add one there, a mall (northgate ?) next to I5 is what they need

Northgate would be ideal for me, but I don't think it's going to happen. There is a huge construction project going on there right now which I think is related to Sound Transit. Anyways they are running out of space there. I guess they could put it on the east side of the mall, but that would be a significant diversion from the freeway especially when there can be some traffic there on the surface streets.

Somewhere near Alderwood Mall seems like a lock for the "Lynnwood" location. Being on I-5 and I-405 is huge. The difficulty will be in finding a spot that is easy on/off for both freeways.

I drove around Arlington the other day. Putting one right in that town would definitely be goofy. It's quite a diversion off I-5. The Arlington freeway exit has some gas stations, a Denny's and a crappy motel but doesn't really seem worthy of a supercharger location unless they are desperate which they shouldn't be in this area.

I'm thinking maybe they are going to put one in at the Smokey Point exit which isn't technical its own town, but rather split up between Marysville and Arlington addresses. The best spot would be somewhere near the Red Robin. I'm not sure if that area is a Marysville or Arlington address.

One other decent possibility in the area would be the "Seattle" Premium Outlets which are nowhere near Seattle, but actually near Tulalip casino. There are already 3 level 2 chargers and one of the NRG EVGo CCS/Chademo combo chargers at the outlets and they would have plenty of space for a supercharger in the surface parking lot. That being said, that location is for sure not an Arlington address so maybe that isn't on their radar.

EDIT: I just looked and the west side of I-5 at Smokey Point is a Marysville address while the east side is an Arlington address. Somewhere near the Best Western Plus, McDonald's, Starbucks on the Arlington side wouldn't be the worst place for a Supercharger.

Probably the light rail project. I just read about 2 rather large park and rides closing here on the Eastside related to this too.

Alderwood, duh. Yeah, that's the one I meant in Lynnwood. I've lived here long enough to know the name of that mall!;) You're right about finding an easily accessible spot from both I5 and I405.

Alderwood Mall is actually the worst spot I can think of in Lynnwood. I don't know if the local traffic is better now but as far as I can remember, it really sucked. I don't go there as often but the last time I visited there, I still didn't enjoy it. I can't think of it better with Costco nowadays. Maybe next to the park and ride is a good spot, but definitely not near the mall.

Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't been off the freeway in that area in many years.

I hope it is at the corner of 196th and Hwy 99. There's a supermarket nearby, a goofy Joanne Fabrics, several restaurants, and a pub or two.

Perfect for a hour layover. And about maybe 10 min from the freeway and traffic isn't horrible like it is around the mall.

Any ideas on where the Olympia location may be? I normally avoid getting off the freeway at Olympia because it seems (from an out-of-towner) its not particularly easy to get back on the freeway where you get off. The exits I think would work well in that area are either north or south of Olympia city limits. (Lacy or Tumwater).

According to the official Tesla page, it is located on Capitol Way in what looks like the old Thurston County Courthouse. However, I called the Olympia City Hall just last week to inquire about submitted building permits or even conversations with the planning commission. I was told there has not yet been any contact. Last month I asked the Thurston County Planning dept and they also didn't have any contact from Tesla yet. So, at this point, an Olympia Supercharger is a ways away.

It's been determined by the many minds here on the forums that all of the "coming soon" tags have simply been put in the center of the town they intend to put a Supercharger in. Not necessarily in the exact spot it will be located. Hence the qualifier, "Exact timing and specific location may vary.", displayed when you click on each of those proposed new sites.

There is a Fred Meyer near the freeway in Tumwater, but that would be awful close to the Centralia supercharger. The Fred Meyer in Lacey is somewhat inconveniently located about a mile off the freeway in an area that can have some decent traffic.

Hawks Prairie (Exit 111 Marvin Road) would make the most sense assuming they are insisting on Thurston County. There aren't any of the typical partner businesses in that area, but the best spot would be somewhere near the Cutter's Point coffee shop in the middle of that big parking lot. The side with Safeway and McDonald's would also be fine. Honestly though it would make more sense for them to put one further up I-5 in the Tacoma area to serve more traffic and bridge the gap between Centralia and a (future) Seattle supercharger.

It's also possible that they are intending to "complete" US 101 by putting a supercharger somewhere on the west side of Olympia, possibly the Black Lake Blvd. exit.

+1. You should definitely ignore the precise locations of the "Coming Soon" pins. That pin is located on Capitol Way and 11th Ave because that is google's default location when you try to map out a route to Olympia.

I think that may be too faraway from I-5 and with reasonable traffic (at least 10 years ago.. I hated the whole 196th from I-5 to Hwy 99.). There are two hotel/inn right next to Lynnwood Transit Center and I am kind of guessing that might be a good candidate.

As we're pontificating locations, we should remember some number of these are likely, primarily, for urban use rather than travel charging

My guess for Olympia would be junction 108 Fred Meyer. Easy on / off north of city, and close to a mall.. though is technically Lacey ;-)

I am wondering the same thing about the Arlington, WA one as well. Maybe more I5 exit at Arlington rather than Arlington itself? (5 miles east of I5)
