Got ya beat. Took them a month to reply to my email and all they did was ask for the account number, which was in the original email....
My experience is Octopus provide good and innovative products, but their customer support is lacking. As with Tesla, they’ve probably grown a little too quickly for the support side to keep up.

It could be worse - you could have been transferred to British Gas as supplier of last resort. Currently six months into trying to get them to make my in home display work correctly. They are an absolute nightmare to deal with. As soon as it’s sorted I’ll be changing supplier. Unless I finally admit defeat …
(only got my M3 this week so ‘cheap charging’ hasn’t been a factor so far)

To be fair, I had exactly the same experience with Octopus. 6 months to fix my in home display and it took numerous emails, until eventually it landed with the correct team.

I gave up trying to get my IHD to work.
My Tesla Gateway gives me all the information I want about power usage but their customer service was pretty useless on that particular issue…

And do they really have to end EVERY SODDING EMAIL with that cringeworthy “Love and power” thing??
My App says gas meter not being read but the bill has a reading for each day , I’ve given up after about 6 emails that they obviously don’t read

Realised those weird Saving Sessions bonus points of mine corresponded exactly to the last session amount saving in kWh if treated as GBP then converted into OctoPoints (multiply by 800). Mysterious stuff, will hold off mentioning to customer services for now. In theory should get the last Pete @ Octopus Energy email in the coming days. Still awaiting 100 bonus points for streak to last session plus the other 1,000 for being in top 20% of savers from 15th (which went unmentioned in his last).

I'm happy that I didn't try to game the system for personal gain.
My savings across all sessions earned 30p total as it's hard to beat a regular microscopic draw from the grid.
Exactly my issue. Even the time I isolated the house and ran off the battery via the hybrid inverter’s EPS I still only saved around 200 Wh! The saving sessions definitely favour those with high grid draw who can make changes to reduce consumption for the 1-2 hours. At the end of the day, I guess it’s those people they’re targeting.

Yes agreed - but maybe naively they didn't anticipate others deliberately running everything they could for several hours beforehand just to pocket a huge saving shortly afterwards. And bragging about it!

It's ever thus in the view of many who don't have the means we have - the wealthier will exploit every loophole they can to make personal gain. I'm certainly no socialist but this sort of thing does sadden and embarrass me.

I’ll start with saying my conscience is clear.

Before I antagonise many by saying I don’t share the righteous view (unsurprisingly). We consumers didn’t write the NG ESO DFS terms, we just get to follow them.

It’s no different to all of the Octopus customers paying 5p when the rest of the country was paying 36p price cap. I didn’t once read a post of someone saying i’m going to fix early at a higher price because it’s not fair on everyone else. Where do we draw the line? We could all opt for a more expensive tariff, because there is someone somewhere in greater need, but we don’t.

Argue the system is unfair and should be changed, fine, but to complain because people follow the rules? I’m not with you there.

I agree completely that the rules my not have been made watertight or clear enough. It's the same problem with lots of tax laws (or laws in general, come to think of it) : they get written in such way that it allows for loopholes.
I disagree, however, that following the rules is the be-all end-all. We know perfectly well what the "spirit of the rules" is: to incentivise those who would be spending electricity during those hours to shift their loads to another time.
Going nuts with consumption and then stopping all usage in order to pocket the "savings" is a clear violation of the spirit of the rules, if not exactly of the letter of the rules.

Spirit/objectives no argument there. Useful when the rules aren’t clear but in this case there wasn’t any interpretation needed, the procedure for how the savings were calculated was very precise.
Again, I agree. Very clear, open to abuse (as seen)..... but we all know it's defeating the spirit of the whole thing.
It's only early days, I suppose, and I expect the number of people gaming it will be somewhat small. I suspect the whole thing will evolve as it matures and the criteria may change a bit.
I suppose it could be possible to use the average consumption of the same time slot over the previous "n" days or weeks, perhaps? That is not without its problems, mind...🤷🏻‍♂️

For those having taken part in all Saving Sessions offered there is an additional prize draw with “1 grand mystery box brimming with £2,000 worth of smart tech and goodies, 8 mini mystery boxes worth over £600 each, as well as 100 bespoke ‘No Coal Crew’ Saving Sessions t-shirts” for 109 lucky customers.

Also a claim that they “saved a staggering 1,862,290 kWh”, which I tend to read as ‘displaced’. Plus mention of a “round up” email to come next week.

Interestingly the amount of DFS reduction from National Grid ESO for Octopus Energy Ltd totals 2,476.9 MW.

It's saving that amount from being generated by coal-fired stations.
