OK, here's a baseless rumor I just made up. It would be silly to think someone @ Tesla doesn't monitor these forums. Someone here suggested the FSD beta is loaded but the button is hidden in the existing software. So in reality, it could be easily enabled without an "official" update via the Tesla network.
MAYBE that someone @ Tesla saw that comment and it said "Hey Elon, we could do that!" (As we know nothing happens without his approval). Being the showman Elon is, he jumped on the idea.

So we're like a third of the way through April. Not a word from Elon on v9. I think the last news we got was that 8.3, which contains "1000s of improvements" was scrapped in favor of v9, which uses vision only (no radar).
