Those look way better than they did on the RCs.

The dark gray powder coat and center cap make all the difference. I actually like this better than the 19" wheels.

This car (HISMDL3) was first spotted Thursday or Friday, August 10-11 and it was on 19" Sport wheels.
So it is possible he had a set of 18s powder coated and was able to borrow a set of 19s until then..

If these turn out to be (custom) powder-coated --- how much would that cost?

A quick search yielded about $100/wheel= $400 total. Probably a little more depending on where you live, but a lot less than the 19s!
Those 18s without the covers look as good as ####! I wish that was what was under the wheel covers!

I edited my post above but I think these may definitely be the stock rims underneath, would explain why we don't see the bright silver around the aero covers anymore like on the RCs.

I had same thought.

The design looks exactly the same, only difference is the color and the caps (center and lug nut caps added back).

In original picture had the 19" wheels and in this new picture it has the 18" wheels sans cover.

Are you sure? To me it looked like 18" silver (before powder coating?)?

I wish someone would turn at least one rim over and post a picture of the numbers on the back of the rim hub. That gives us bolt spacing and offset ect.

Regarding the aeros, and what's underneath... Is there some big secret or reasoning behind why Tesla doesn't just make this known to the public or at least to the people who have money down with intent to spend $35k-$60k? I'm fully expecting a "welcome to Tesla" reply for this question but I had to ask.

Yeah, there seems to be some easy details that aren't being shared like this one and others. Can't figure out why some basic information is so scare. I'm guessing Tesla just wants to lay as low as possible on M3 details for another month or so to help not rock the S/X boat.

THE TRUNK OPENING WAS NEVER AS SMALL AS PEOPLE WERE FREAKING OUT ABOUT. NEVER.

The trunk opening now is very close to how it was in March 2016. There are several small changes. But that's it.

What I'm saying is people were/are stupid.

IMO the trunk opening has never been - nor is it now - as huge as some are now saying it is...

It is OK for a sedan. That's it. It is not a hatchback opening - and that has been the main complaint IMO.

Wait a couple of weeks for cars to filter out to regular customers. The forum is great for that sort of never-ending detail
