Scratched my new X front rim :(

I scratched my X front driver wheel rim to the parking curb pretty bad :(. I just got the car for less then a week. Would Tesla service center fix it? What’s the best way to repair and roughly how much in the Bay Area CA USA? How can I protect the Rims to prevent this in the future? Thanks

Easily repairable, I have a mobile guy that come to my place and fixed it in an hour, paid 185.00 for it, could be cheaper if I drop off the wheel and wait for the next day. Other than more careful, that’s nothing you can do to protect it from curb scrapes.

All good advice given. "Curb-rashed" two of my MY wheels a year or so ago. Being repaired next week for $150 per wheel. Coming to my home to do the work.

First world problems are my favorite ones!!

PS
At least do a Yelp search to see who people recommend for such work in your area.

I have seen a few YouTube videos doing it. Doesn’t look all that difficult. Looks like sourcing the paint might be the hardest part. My 2019 has the 22” wheels in black. Does anyone have suggestions for sources for the paint (preferably spray)?

I’m all for 360 view. These wheels are so vulnerable. Anything to help protect them would be welcomed.

Looks like it’ll cost $185 to repair. Has anyone repair by themselves? Is it doable with decently good result?
If you google wheel color codes, you will find site like hdpaintcode that listed the code for OEM wheel and there are some DIY youtube, yours looks easy enough to try, if it doens’t meet your expectation, then you can always take it to the shop.

MX is pretty wide - the placement of the wheels takes a bit of getting used to. The sensors are your friends and if you listen to them you will not have a problem.

I too curbed my wheels while being stupid. Found a great local guy reviewed on a TMC forum, met him in the back of a sketchy car dealership parking lot, he jacked up the car and I watched Netflix for an hour while he fixed both rims good as new. This is absolutely fixable if you go to someone good.

it’s my wife’s turn. She curb rashed 2 rims really bad. One even cut into the alloy beneath the black coat. Are they fixable?

We have never had this issues with other car brands. Is it how Tesla design their rim? Seems so easy to get curb rash

Had a mobile repair guy do this for me, wheel came out perfect for $150.00 ea.
Ask your local Tesla service center who they use to repair wheels.

In my own defense... That curb snuck out and jumped at my wheel(s).
Added before and after.
I was so ashamed 😞

I never understood why this is such a big deal to people. I never, in my 40 years of driving had a car without some damage to the wheels, living in the city means curbs everywhere you park, tight spot in parking garages and what more. Just spray it in color and forget about it.

And lets not talk about the door dings and parking dents you will recieve……
