Yes. It's worth sticking around one time. Preferably in a dark garage, since the car not only makes all kinds of weird sounds, but also puts on a light show, randomly turning on both exterior and various interior lights. Twilight zone. That's all terrifying! Does this happen every update? I've never actually hung around for one.
I get mine off my wireless APSome routers will keep track of how much date each device sends and receives.
This is false. I'm not an early access member and I got my V9 on Friday (west coast) for my Model 3. Read earlier posts.Hasn't hit the east coast (or any coast for that matter) yet on the Model 3. Extremely limited test release to Early Access and it likely hasn't proceeded due to some issues found. Model S and X seem to be getting it nationwide.
Yes, a bunch of strange sounds can usually be heard during the installation of an update. This is all completely normal.
Curious if anyone knows what those clacks are internally. Some kind of technical checks I'm sure. I've stuck around inside for a couple updates and it's pretty startling if you don't expect it.

This is a big upgrade- I see 2 cars instead of one tractor/trailer on my current version. Also shows what kind of vehicle the cameras pick up.
SUV / Car / Truck / Motorcycle / People = all different pictures on the display.
Any idea how Telsa determines which cars receive the software updates and when?

random number generator seems as likely as any other theory I've heard to date.

I'm just crossing my fingers that there is a chance they'll fix whatever bug(s) they found and that my Model 3 gets version 9 before my road trip at the end of the week!

I seriously doubt full self-driving is going to be possible on AP2.5 either. It looks to me like a ton of neural network processing power is going to be needed, far more than is in AP2.5. The cameras and sensors in the current cars may be sufficient though.I dont understand why some features would only be possible on AP2.5 and not on AP2.0.

They seem to turn new point releases fairly quickly, so I wouldn't be surprised to see something hitting model 3's by the end of the week. Whether or not they can get it into wide release by then is a different story.
