I have been paying for Slacker Premium since the first month of owning a Model S. I'd still MUCH prefer Spotify...

I would prefer Spotify given the much larger music catalog.

Monday can't come quick enough... Hopefully they get the quality spot on. Rado and Tunein have awful quality... There is always a buzzing sound.

Also, when I recently purchased my Tesla, the guy said 4G will be starting in the UK soon, but you will most likely have to pay for the service.

Oh, the pain. I'd very much like integrated Spotify, even if that meant giving up slacker support. Hey, EU and Asia owners: you got something before North America! :)

What needs to happen is that Tesla makes its SDK available to qualified developers, so that Spotify can code its own app to make the service available worldwide.

Yes. Thankfully Elon announced that the SDK would be available "soon".

Unfortunately he made that announcement in November 2013 :-(

it has been reported on the Norwegian electric car forum elbilforum.no that Spotify is in the 2.9.68 update
I am myself on 2.9.40 and have not seen it yet.

I can confirm that 2.9.68 in the U.S. does not have Spotify, sadly...

Did you get .68? Would you mind adding it to the Firmware Tracker? We have only one such report so far...

I did, but it was as a result of Ranger service call, so though it was OTA, it wasn't a GA release. I will update the tracker.

What a bummer. Spotify is significantly better than Slacker in every way. I hope Elon brings Spotify to the U.S. as well.

The EU also got the cold weather package before the US and also enjoys a more robust anti-theft alarm system than US cars. Oh and EU vehicles also have adjustable level headlights which we do not have here in the US.

And they have 3 phase charging with slightly higher power (but our charge connector is prettier) :)
