SR Not Plus Waiting Room

The announcement states that "All Tesla vehicles now come with Autopilot bundled as a standard feature for less than the prior cost of the option", so I assume this includes the SR models as well. Those who ordered the SR car before this announcement are grandfathered under the original $35,000 price. Those who order an SR after the announcement (in person only) pay the current price, which I assume is $37,000 ($39,500 minus $2,500 SR to SR+ differential).

It's clearly a pricing error, how is this rational?

SR Model 3
35K + Free Autopilot

SR+ Model 3

37K + 2K Autopilot

Delta for SR+ which gets you heated seats for all intents and purposes for 4K?

35K peeps are getting a huge deal, yet were the people willing to pay the least. It's really aggravating since I could have returned my car up until a few days ago.
I've been supporting Tesla since the beginning. Could only now justify dumping my old hybrid, and look what happens right away.
For someone who has spent so much time and effort (and buying shares!) on Tesla, I'm extremely disillusioned.

This is how much I lost for missing the refund date, or not just buying a little later, or the cheaper version.

SR Model 3. Black interior/exterior, base wheels, AP added.
Base cost plus AP plus delivery times tax minus rebate
(($47,600 + $4000 + $1300) x 1.12) - $5000 = $52,900

SR+ Model 3. Black interior/exterior, base wheels, AP added.
Base cost plus AP plus delivery times tax (2% luxury taxes when >$56,000) minus rebate
(($51,000 + $4000 + $1300) x 1.14) - $5000 = $59,182
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Price difference: $59,182 - $ 52,900 = $6,282

Good one 35K people. Seems the Tesla gods are smiling on you, while everyone else subsidizes you car :)

I called Tesla Canada about my SR with AP order placed early March. I asked about the price reduction and he didn't have an answer for me. Apparently all this is pretty new to him. Anyways, later in the day I checked my Tesla account and it shows my SR with AP at the base price of the SR. I have no idea what price is going to be in the end. I'm betting on $48,900 CAD. 47600 base plus 1300 for AP. I got the AP price from subtracting the SR+ with AP before the price changes yesterday, from the current price of SR+.

I spoke with Tesla Friday morning and they were just as confused as your guy. I really want to know what the differences are between the SR and the SR+, apart from 32km of range.
I keep reading talk about the SR not having traffic data, heated seats or premium sound -- but those are all things the SR+ also doesn't have.
I don't think I've ever suffered such buyer's remorse as I'm suffering now.

SR+ has heated seats

SR+ has heated seats

Sorry, I meant the SR+ does not have heated rear seats. I've often wondered if they are there but not active; same with the rear speakers (no sub in SR+, but maybe 2 disabled or not connected rear speakers). Still, an extremely tiny difference, and absolutely not worth over 6k for 32km and the possibility of no heated front seats.
Guess next week things will become clearer.

This article from Consumer Reports confirms that the SR at $35K does NOT include Autopilot (at least according to the Tesla spokesperson they spoke with). Of course that doesn’t change the fact that several posters have confirmed placing orders for $35K and receiving an order confirmation showing Autopilot being listed as a feature. I continue to believe it is an error, and the company did not intend to include Autopilot for $35K. I have no idea how they plan on handling the orders they have taken so far. This will be interesting to see how it plays out.

Tesla Makes It Harder to Buy a $35,000 Model 3
Tesla starts leasing Model 3s; $35,000 version is now software-locked (Ars Technica) also says
Update: Tesla contacted us this morning to say that in fact you can get a $35,000 Model 3 with no autopilot, if you call or visit one of its stores. As noted below, that information was not mentioned in its blog post on Thursday night.

I got a “submit final payment before delivery date” page, which is new, but I don’t have a delivery date. Also the order agreement PDF doesn’t reflect the price on my order page.

Should I make this payment or wait for a date and the order agreement to look right?

I did not submit my final payment until I was at the delivery center and completed a thorough inspection of the car. It was the last thing I did before I drove off. They may tell you that you have to pay before your appointment but if you just show up and pay on the day of delivery it will be fine. Ignore anyone who tells you otherwise.

My SR order also flipped to make a final payment screen this morning. I still don't see a VIN or that "we are preparing a purchase agreement" text that used to be on that screen. I sent an email to the delivery specialist to see whats up, I think she said in Texas you have to pay for the car first before delivery but I was expecting to see a VIN somewhere at least right?

I really hope you guys get free AP.
As much as I like my Model 3, I don't think AP is worth even $1500 to me.
I suppose it depends on what your daily commute is like. I can usually save about 5 minutes taking secondary and back roads or go the longer way to keep mostly on highways. I almost always go the longer way to have AP engaged. It is sooo much less stressful.

I got the same final payment message. No vin. No delivery date. Order agreement still says the old price. I’m going to wait until Monday and talk to someone first.
