In this sense they're just operating more like a normal car company. Some will get the bottom basement pricing on a 2018 right now and others will accept it at full price because they don't know any better or don't care. Some of it's luck and some of it's skill. Tesla has tried to talk me into multiple 2018 MRs and as recent as two days ago offered me a 2018 MR with free 19-inch wheels and midnight silver paint for the same price as my black SR+. And I wasn't even trying to get an MR upgrade, just inquired about status on my SR+. "We don't know when we'll be able to get you an SR+" and then the next day I had my delivery appointment.

You mind sharing the location?

Did they call you from a particular store or just a rep from Tesla?

Just on the phone at the main 888 number. Previously got offers when they said "But let me check what we have in inventory that might get close." The most recent one I called in about status and then about three hours later a Fremont number called me so I picked up and it was someone who "wanted to get me in a car quick" since I'd been calling in about status. That's when he flipped through a bunch of options but all black interior. Said I wanted white interior and he found a midnight silver with 19-inch rims that he could do.

Ordered a SR+(MSM, 19" wheels) on 3/5. Got a text indicating that delivery is anticipated between 3/24 and 3/30. In the meantime, I went to a couple Tesla stores to check if I could take possession of a car that is currently in stock. Given my preferences, I was matched up with a 2018 demo M3(AWD) with 1700miles on it. The car has been used as a demo vehicle. I believe it is discounted $6000 or so from the 2019 equivalents. Are there any downsides to buying a demo car with 1700 miles with regards to:

1. Claiming federal rebate and CA EV rebate
2. Potential abuse and/or wear and tear, given that it has been used as a demo/test vehicle

I haven't taken a look at the car yet. Wanted to get your thoughts before I decide to move further.

I'm no tax expert, but the rep I spoke with in the store last night said they still qualify for the tax credit as they have always been owned by Tesla. I guess a test drive vehicle is going to have a different type of driving, but I wouldn't think there would be any significant affect on the vehicle in 1600 miles..

Edit to add: It will be a 2018 when you resale it, so that will have some impact on its resale value.

My analysis of the SR vs SR+

Top speed 10mph increase - could care less
0-60 0.3 seconds faster - I drive on the 405 in LA. could care less. 5.6s 0-60 good enough for me
20 mile extra range - intriguing, but honestly since I charge at home, this will do me nothing. 20 miles isnt long enough for me to make a road trip that I wouldn't have otherwise taken. My Bolt is epa 238mi - I can count on 1 hand the times I've taken it below 30 mile range, mostly due to me being too lazy to plug it in the night before.

Interior Upgrades
1. Power Seats - would be nice to have because of driver profiles. But, I've lived without in many cars in the past.
2. Leather interior - eh, if the fabric is the same as the Model S/X multipattern textile, that's probably better in the long run.
3. Phone Dock - could care less
4. Center Console Storage - i mean...cool? but could care less
5. Heated Seats - would be very nice to have, but Socal meh
6. Audio - my podcasts could sound more immersive, but not something I care about
7. Trim - con in my opinion, I would likely vinyl wrap the wood

Exterior - fog lamps - woop

It is a great bargain if several of the upgrades are must haves or you really enjoy. For me, a lot of could care less, and some nice to haves. $2,000 isn't much money, but personally, I don't see the value. Key word personally.

My opinion on this... If you resell your car in a year or 5 years, this $2,000 is probably going to be made up in the resale value of 95% of the people wanting an SR+ with the options over the SR. In essence, you may be getting these "upgrades" for free for as long as you own the car. I've see this time and again with all the cars i've owned/purchased used. You never know, of course, but i certainly wouldn't look at as truly costing you $2,000 unless you own the car for your entire life, or rather, until the car goes to the trash heap.

I got the same text message (We expect your Tesla Model 3 to be delivered between 3/13 and 3/24) for my order on 3/2/19 - SR+, White with AP. Called my delivery specialist. She asked me to ignore that message and wait for her call for confirmation when VIN is assigned. Looks like there is a disconnect between the factory and delivery centers.

Called my delivery specialist a few minutes ago. Got VIN and home delivery scheduled for Friday, 3/22 between 10 & 12. Excited!
NOTE: My account does not show VIN or delivery date yet.

Just took delivery of my SR+ today. Unlike the other poster from yesterday my autopilot only has autosteer. If you have any questions send them my way and I'll try to respond.

Two questions...
1. How is the sound system? Get loud? Good bass?
2. Do you have an music streaming in the car (I heard that music streaming may actually included for a year in the SR+). Can you confirm?

Thank you!

Interesting, the sticker on the Standard Plus says the 240 mile range is with an efficiency of 25 kWh per 100 miles.

25 * (240 / 100) = 60 kWh so the battery could actually be very close to the Mid!

Does the Standard Plus show the total kWh on the display anywhere?

the way that sticker looks though I have to wonder if that's the EPA data for the Standard Range instead (not the Standard Range Plus).
