Quick question for you. How do you know when the VIN is assigned? Where does that appear in the app?
You will see it plainly like you currently see the order number in the app.

We actually got the text later after already discovering that we had been assigned a VIN in the app.

The EDD also dramatically shortens as well which will make you look more closely at the details in the app and the app will ask to take more actions to prepare for delivery.

Sudden pullin today after sitting at simply "December 2022" for over 5 weeks

Ordered June 8, 2022, with the before ordering web site delivery estimate given as September-December 2022
Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive, Deep Blue, 18" Aero, B&W interior not originally FSD, but added FSD in early September

Estimated Delivery Date history
June 11, 2022 August 7 – September 18
June 16, 2022 October 12-December 7
June 25, 2022 October 10-November 21
August 23, 2022 October 10-November 14
September 1, 2022 December 2022
October 8, 2022 October 22-November 4

I want as much compatibility between this model 3 and our March 2022 Model Y LR as possible for easy driver swapping. I think the ultrasound sensors are gone. I harbor a hope that maybe the stalks will still be there on my 3. Has anybody yet reported on the stalks on an actual delivered model year 2023 model 3?

After I typed all this, I checked my email and saw a new message from Tesla asserting that the Mobile Connector I ordered (and immediately paid for) by ticking a box on the model 3 order page back in June has shipped. A UPS tracking number was provided, so apparently mine won't be placed in my 3 when I accept delivery.

Just curious, what happens if we don't click the "proceed with delivery" button?
I’m able to answer my own question. If you ignore them, they will put your order on hold or cancel it.

Stalks are still there, only confirmed change for 2023 model year is USS being removed.

Great news. I got additional great news in a text exchange with Tesla today. They sent me a text nudging me to do a tradein. I replied inquiring whether there might a better option for picking up our new 3 in a few weeks than existed in March for our Y, which we had to pick up in Colorado Springs. The reply was that the Nambe center just north of Santa Fe is now doing deliveries, and we could pick it up there. As I live in Albuquerque, this means 70 miles each way, rather than 375, which is way better for us.

In additional good news for the future, within the past week it was disclosed that Tesla is building a second New Mexico service center, once again on Indian land (to get around the pro-dealer law in this state). This one is near the Santa Ana Star Casino, which is only 15 miles from my home. That is a far more inviting prospect for future service visits. Until just a few months ago Albuquerque residents needing service had the Mobile Rangers, or Colorado Springs, or Phoenix, or ...

On the stalk matter, when I went looking for postings yesterday I mostly found a zillion articles all triggered by the same initial "supply chain info from China" leak, but I found one somewhat more recent leak claiming to have inside sources which asserted that while the change was indeed coming, there was existing contracted delivery of the old parts which would push the changeover out, quite possibly a ways into calendar year 2023. As my car should be built in the next few weeks, I have good hope it is going to have stalks.

I keep searching the page source for the Tesla account web page for this car for 5YJ and not finding it, so I guess I don't have yet a VIN detectable by that means.

Current EDD remains October 22-November 4.
