Starting to deliver Production P90D

An interesting tidbit - looking at the page source, here is what Tesla is calling "early", "mid", and "late" as far as months go:

Code:
                Early: [0, 1, 2, 3],
                Mid: [4, 5, 6, 7],
                Late: [8, 9, 10, 11, 12]

Not sure why they have 13 months (month 0), but that leaves it open to interpretation. If month 0 is January, then mid-2016 is May, June, July, August. That makes more sense than having 5 months bundled into the "late" category, and only three months bundled into the "early" category. Interesting regardless.
Very interesting and makes me more optimistic about a May/June delivery!

I have it on pretty good authority that "it only takes a few days to make the car". I also know that it took exactly four days for my X from start of production to finish (entering QC phase). Not sure where my car is now, and I haven't asked. Take that info FWIW. It's not the manufacturing time that is the hold up. It's like software development; it's the debugging that takes the huge majority of the time.

So here's a perfect example of the communication issue. I was clearly told by my DS that an X takes longer than an S to build and they really have no idea at this point how long it takes to make an X under normal production conditions.

Also, my car has been "in production" for almost two weeks. That's all fine with me. I am patient. I just wish they'd give no information rather than confusing information. Lots of people on the forums have been in production for more than 4 days.

Not questioning your info, just can't connect the dots here...

where did you get 450/week produced in February and 650/week in March? Are we both speculating the Q1 ramp or is there data out there? agree that our ramps to our deliveries are about equal. Here's to hope and (pocket) change!

We were at 258/W at the end of december ... And we ha to go to 800/W at the emd of march. I applied a standard exponential between to interpolate the missing months details (Tesla rarely provide monthly details)

Sorry for the amateur question, but are you VIN #1071? And already in QC phase?? Have you been given a rough delivery estimate?

No apologies necessary. My original reservation # was/is #1071. My VIN was assigned on 12/23 and is 00013x. Originally the my tesla page showed an estimated delivery of February to early March. Other than that, I have neither received nor asked for a delivery estimate. I have neither initiated contact with my DS nor have I been contacted by him.

Car started production on 1/18. Finished production on 1/22 (according to my local tesla store). Car is still at the factory in QC.

Does that help answer your questions? We were all beginners at one point in time. :)

i suspect that "in production" includes the time spent in QC. My 4 days time frame was just talking about time on the assembly line. I imagine if I contacted my DS, he would probably tell me that my car is still "in production".

P.S. Your screen name "elguapo" cracks me up! XD

I'm chill in Denver. If you are RN 7000, then you are in the April bucket, as my math shows 5000 vehicles by end of March. The math would tend to confirm why we are in the same pot of mid-2016, a April and September are both mid-2016! Hopefully if you see yours in April, I will be both happy for you and for me, meaning there are less cars to build before mine is built!
Cheers to all-

I hear ya!
We have a delivery specialist assigned at least. I put the over/under at May 1 (much like the graphs we see here). Personally, I am taking the over! Looks like anybody wanting a P model is going first, even if the walk into a store today and order. Soon enough though if the kick out 700-800 a week.

You might want to get a second opinion. Our DS called us on January 15th to give us the good news that our Model X (VIN 3XX) had entered production and should be delivered the first week of February. We called him earlier this week to ask where it was, and he told us the car had entered production "around the end of January, early February" and that we should have it by the end of the month.

Same guy, completely different info each time we speak to him. First he told us we'd have the car the first week of February, and then he tells us that's when production began (after telling us production started three weeks earlier).

On top of that, a second DS we spoke to on February 3rd told us that our Model X had finished production and was in quality control at the factory.

Absolutely amazing.

Ha! That's why I don't bother calling the DS's; those poor overworked souls have enough to do without me bothering them for an update. It doesn't make the car come any faster. And getting a second opinion won't change the fact that it's still sitting in QC at the factory. :) The car will come when it comes. I don't want to keep pressing the elevator call button to see if it makes the elevator arrive faster....

My VIN is around yours and you are much further along than me. Spoke with my DS yesterday and still not in production.... :crying:

@bobbykansara thank you, and very helpful. Hoping you receive yours soon!! MyTesla page initially said Jan - early Feb (VIN low 300s) and it seems to me all this stuff doesn't matter. The Tesla gods rule with no rhyme or reason (that I can decipher).

Did we confirm if there have actually been any production deliveries? I know there are a few scheduled, but wasnt clear if any have changed hands. Seems like #328 was a signature delivery (or a fake), I am within 20 VINS of that and have heard NADA about my X P90D.

As verified by a post on the Facebook Tesla Owners Worldwide group, deliveries of production non-Sig Model X's have begun. In this case it was production VIN 000328 that I saw.

While I am really happy for them to get their car, I have to say, as a Signature reservation holder, I'm just a bit irritated that we have heard absolutely nothing regarding the delivery of our Sig X. Even just an email to say, Hey, we're working on your Sig, would go a long way.

There seem to still be a lot of us Signature reservation holders who are in the same boat.

SigX VIN #484 (still waiting)

BBTesLosAngeles, Production VIN 328 was not a fake. It has been verified in numerous ways that it is indeed production. There have also been other numerous production deliveries verified. Just check out the forums or the Facebook post for the latest info and you will see that. I've been watching all the production deliveries is dismay, as I have still received no info regarding my Sig VIN #484, which is still sitting up at the factory in Fremont. Also, note that VIN's have very little to do with delivery order, so don't be too surprised that you have not heard anything yet.

For what it's worth, I was told VIN is only a small part of production timing. I have been told twice that they are not produced in VIN order. Batching by color and similar options seems to trump VIN order. There are people in the 500s reporting delivery dates...

So basically there is no line. Reserving, ordering, confirming (and picking the highest options even though I really didn't want to spend that much but just wanted the car ASAP) means absolutely nothing unless you are in the right "batch" WONDERFUL. This process is making me so

It does matter, they just can't build them fast enough yet without compromising quality. P90Ds will be first. We know this from TM. From others we can tell having the premium package helps but onyx wheels slow you down. Otherwise, no one except a few folks at Tesla understand how VINs are assigned and how they correlate to production order or how they batch. Frustrating, but we all knew it would be a long wait. In the end, it will be completely worthwhile.

My Production Vin# 21X will be delivered on Tuesday. Finished SC QA and just awaiting detailing on Monday for Tuesday delivery.

#328 was not a fake if the Vin was reported correctly as 000328 since it would have been S00328 if it was a Sig.

I do feel badly for the owners of the Sigs that were built in December and January but apparently had some major problem and are awaiting fixes. It is unfair and TM should have scrapped them and built new ones for those folks. They could also have let them sit until they could be fixed and use them for showroom demos, but in the meantime build new ones for the Sig customers.

Just got an email from my DS that my production Vin #27X is in QC at the factory. No word on timing for transport to NY and then delivery to me in Upstate NY

I have VIN 16X and I got an email reply that mine is in assembly, then go to finishing production, then inspections/QC. After that He will have a, idea on timing of delivery which is kind of ironic since I am picking up at the factory. Thank god I have a dependable Prius.
