Supercharger - Issaquah, WA (LIVE Oct 2018, 8 Urban stalls)

This site may earn commission on affiliate links.
There were four boxes dropped off and a red pickup truck inside with a flat bed trailer (without anything on the trailer).

I was thinking 2 chargers (A & B) per box?
8 charging lanes: 1a, 1b | 2a, 2b | 3a, 3b & 4a, 4b?

Are all the boxes the same size? Because in addition to the Supercharger cabinets, 1 per 2 stalls, there has to be at least one QED, switchgear, cabinet. So it could be 6 stalls, or it could be that more boxes are on the way.

What do you think of this? a $124 fine if a vehicle isn't actively charging (In Wa State)?

Hmmm. Those wooden boxes are marked with UC. Early speculation, but one of the pics from a CA SuC site had boxes marked that way (granted they were white) and they contained 72kw Urban Chargers. Wonder if that’s the case here......

It’s possible there was a problem with electrical supply that resulted in cancelling the first install. Maybe urban chargers are how they were able to make the location viable. Will be interesting to see what gets installed.

I agree, this is the wrong place for this discussion. Superchargers are never marked to comply with this law -- it's pretty rare for any charging facility to be in compliance. Then there is the issue of enforcement. The law is a good idea, but the execution is pretty meaningless.

Used to live in a house on the hill a few minutes' drive from this site. As soon as I saw on the map, which shopping center had been chosen for the supercharger, my thought was "oh, there will be lots of ICEing there for sure." Very busy shopping center, and folks aren't going to take too kindly to being told they can't park anywhere they want.

It's far enough away from the main store. With some good signage and possibly even with one of their newer pull-through layouts hopefully most ICE drivers will get the message.

Yeah. To me they chose probably the farthest they could from the entrances to Fred Meyer while still not being directly across from any business on the lot facing opposite. (There are stores on all sides of this parking lot).

The only reasons normal people will park in these spots is either the lot being full or purposely trying to ICE.

To put things in perspective even with these spots walled off there was still a buffer of empty spots surrounding the enclosure. You could reason that people just don't want to park near the fences but it also means that they preferred and found suitable parking elsewhere.

I visit this plaza a few times a week (groceries, and the restaurants). Unfortunately since the last time they tried digging i've been watching keenly and those spots are in fact used quite a bit by shoppers to the restaurants on the other side. There's a new Ivar's coming in addition to panda express, qdoba, etc. Likely be affected by both ICE'ing as well as locals to do their daily charging.
