I've stopped here twice on a road trip. I had read some comments on the forums about this location being a bit sketchy before my trip so I had an idea of what to expect, but I didn't want to mention it to my wife.
Traveling from Baton Rouge to Mobile, I arrived around 8:45pm while 19 RM, I plugged in and quickly walked across the parking lot to the Target to use the facilities. As I was returning to the car, I could see a car parked in front of mine with the window down, taking pictures. As I approached they drove away and another car showed up. It was a curious couple that didn't know anything about Tesla so I talked with them and answered their questions for 5 minutes and they left. When I got into the car my wife told me that several cars stopped by while I was gone for those few minutes and she felt a little uneasy. While we waited for the car to charge, we saw many other cars driving through including mall security a few times. I never felt scared and I seem to remember there being some parking lot lighting by the supercharger area; however, I can understand how others might feel uneasy, as my wife did.
On the return trip from DeFuniak Springs to Mobile, we had more charge remaining and decided to go to the hotel and hit the supercharger in the morning. We arrived around 8am and the situation was completely different - the place was almost dead. There was a charter bus for a church or something loading up, but that was about it. Again, I did see mall security a few times.
Part of the reason we went to the supercharger in the morning on the return trip was because the wife felt it would be safer.
