I also stopped by MGM casino for lunch and a charge. There was actually a security guard parked in front of the ICE cars and writing notices to put on them all. After a short chat, I found out the current policy is to leave a note on a car telling not to park there but keep a record of the plate. Repeat offenders get towed.

I'm glad they're doing something about the ICE cars blocking the charging stations at MGM. I'm going to write another email to them thanking them for stepping up their efforts, but suggesting that they also paint the floor of the EV charging stalls green to make them more defined.

I tried to park on 4th floor first. That entire section of chargers is designated Handicap EV which makes signage very confusing. All 4 spots were ICE'd by Handicap labeled vehicles. A lady was just jumping out of her Explorer and had a Handicap tag on her mirror. I mentioned that she was in a EV spot and she pointed to her Handicap tag ready to protest me accusing her of not being eligible. I pointed to the half dozen empty Handicap parking spots across the aisle and told her the one she was in was reserved for Handicap drivers in Electric Vehicles. It dawned on her what I was saying and she moved across the aisle without hesitation. I certainly can't blame her for not being aware of the distinction.

Floor 1 and 2 were empty, floor 5 where I parked had 2 Volts plugged in next to me and a ICE who was getting a written warning.

Working on a Sunday to connect the stalls.

Looks almost done.

Also hope the stations don't work quite like this (#regulate) ;)

Also this LEAF is putting us all to shame:

what do the parking signs say? looks like general parking allowed for 30 Mins, but hard to read from the photos.
I can't read it read it, but blowing it up and knowing what the signs look like, I bet you're right, it's
30 Minutes
General Parking

The usual deal when they couldn't get all the parking reserved for Tesla Charging Only, nothing for you other folks!

I guess it's all perspective, but data doesn't lie.

There's a lot of property crime on both sides of the river. The west side data is not available, but the written police blotters in Virginia may lead one to conclude that it's a good idea to be armed and ready to defend in my humble opinion if running away is not an option. People (potential criminals) seem to be very aggressive throughout the DC metro area. The road rage alone in this region is enough to give one concern. :(

National Harbor is well patrolled by the police and private security. There are surveillance cameras all over it as well. It should be fine.

If it is 30min general parking then this site is a complete waste of money and will be ICE'd every day. Let's hope not or they may have well just built s free ATM machine.

I absolutely agree. Everyone should be able to outgun the criminals. We trained our kids early on all sorts of pistols, shotguns and assault rifles. Both my kids can keep a good shot group and nice three round shot groups on the M4s. Pepper Spray and Tasers isn't a bad idea either.

I agree about the criminality beginning equal in certain areas. In VA the route one corridor is a mess too.

When I tried to park in this lot before Tesla started any work I got chased out because it was for boat slip owners only.

12 charging stations total.
11 back-in, 1 pull-in
1 pull-in & 5 back-in have dedicated "Tesla Charging Only" signs.
6 remaining back-in spaces have "30-min general parking" signs.
Well, that's a quandary.
If you arrive to charge with the lot empty, do you:
A) Take a Tesla-only spot because you are a Tesla, or
B) Take a general parking spot, leaving room for more Tesla's and making other general parking less likely?
I'm leaning toward using the general parking spaces first.

100% agree. I would use a general spot first.
This lot location is PRIME, unlike many other supercharger locations.
Will be interesting to see how usage unfolds....

I stopped by National Harbor today for a peek. The whole lot has been resurfaced and the striping is done. The landscaping looks done and the irrigation people were tuning the sprayers. There are new poles up to hold signs at the non Tesla spots, but the signs are not on yet. The wheel chocks have arrived but have not been bolted to the ground yet.

I lucked out and ran across the Foreman on site. He said final inspections for the power side are scheduled for this week. If all goes well, this weekend or early next week it should open.
