Yesterday, I saw 2 model 3s. Really dirty so they probably came up on I80 over the summit snow. Both CA plates. I charged there last night while at the buffet. My X gained 220 miles at 110KW peak, and I gained 4.2 pounds in 80 minutes !

CA manufacturer ???? not sure what you mean. All the 3s are made in Fremont.
By CA manufacturer, I'm asking if they were California manufacturer plates. If so, then they would still be owned/operated by Tesla and possibly be used by employees going back and forth between the Gigafactory and the Fremont factory vs. regular California plates which could indicate the cars are privately owned.

Oooooooh ! I see what you mean :D I thought you were not sure where they were made.
No, they are customer plates. I pretty much know most of the T folks going back and forth.

I should have worded my Q better. Will security let one enter and use the SCs or do they only allow visitors with clearance to get past their gate? Basically, wondering if any Tesla owner can be allowed to use them. Maybe only during normal business hours? IOW: Exactly how does one get to use them, only employees?
As far as I know, they are for employees but I would assume a guest there would be able to use them. I have 3 family members out there but I'm the only Tesla owner.

I would not assume that at all. I have driven as far as I could up near the gigafactory on 2 occasions and both times was rebuffed by security. I don't recall seeing any superchargers, but of course I didn't get inside the gate. Security up there is very tight.

I've been up close to the chargers several times when picking up or dropping off my grandson. He uses a J1772 L2 and has to share with other cars that may not require a charge like his Leaf. When someone unplugs him he can't make it home so makes him mad if a Volt unplugs him.

Any ideas where the second Reno Supercharger might go? Supposedly it's going to open up by the end of the year, but with no permits applied for, it seems unlikely.

Are the Gigafactory's Superchargers accessible to the public? As in, are they outside of their gates? I know they're not shown on the SC map, but I've seen pictures/videos of superchargers there.
My 3 was charged there once. It went into the Service Center out there (it's not customer facing, so it isn't on any of Tesla's public information), and I needed it charged for a road trip later that day. They took it out there and charged it up.

My sources tell me that Tesla is in negotiations with Eldorado to use their surface lot for 30 superchargers. They are at a stall over what each party wants. The property owner wants an escape clause to allow them to move the SCs if they decide to build on the lot and Tesla doesn't want to spend big bucks on a possible temporary installation.

That's very exciting for me as I live right next to the Eldorado! But their EV chargers get ICEd on a regular basis, especially during Hot August Nights and other special events (like Street Vibrations this week). I wonder if Tesla would push for Tesla only spots, since a casino/hotel isn't usually a quick stop.

Seems like a bad location to me tbh. Downtown Reno still sketchy as hell at night. And I don't even recall that surface lot being very big? I always parked in the garage at Eldorado and it was old and grimy and tight as hell so that wouldn't be an option either. Also had some sort of pay wall (I never paid, but had to flash a players card or hotel key I think).

Guess I must not frequent there enough but when I do it is usually earlier in the day and never had a problem with ICEd L2 spots. There are 2 Tesla chargers and 2 J1772 spots. I had to use my J1772 adapter last time I went there but it wasn't because of ICEd spots but 2 Teslas were already charging. There are other casinos close by with L2 charging also like Circus Circus and Harrahs. Being local and charging mostly at home, I don't really need to supercharge or L2 charge in Reno but when free juice is available I figure why not.

Must have been quite a while since you've been there because there hasn't been pay parking there for many years and when it was it was a ticket you got validated in the casino almost anywhere and showed the guard on the way out. For the last several years, the parking is just drive in and no guard on the way out. Maybe it changes at different hours of the day but I've been there for street events and showroom shows at night and have never paid or had a players card or room key. If I were supercharging there (if it ever opens there), I wouldn't be worried about the sketchy part as it is a well lit parking garage with a bunch of security and a enclosed overhead walkway from the garage to the casino. I've never felt unsafe there at any hour of the day.

Yeah, I've never paid there to be honest. The only times I have seen them require payment is once or twice for a baseball game (I think when the Aces went to the playoffs).

I live downtown in one of the condo buildings, and it isn't too bad. I don't feel unsafe walking between my building and the parking garage at the eldorado after 9pm (but I definitely don't like to). Since this would be in a fenced off parking lot, and there is a bridge between the parking garage (next to the lot) and the casino, you probably won't ever have to deal with people on the street. Honestly a lot of the sketchy places in Reno have gotten a lot better since Tesla moved in and unemployment is basically as low as it gets.

I live literally next door to it and don't have charging in our underground garage, so I have to find a charger once or twice a week (or hit up the supercharger at the Atlantis). Every special event it seems like large pickups like to park there (dunno why, maybe jealous or spiteful). I once had a person threaten to kick my f'ing ass because they parked in an EV spot when there were plenty of handicap spots open and I pointed that fact out to them. Won't ever do that again.

I'm hoping that the city will require EV charging spots to be a tow at owners expense someday soon as a way to show support for EVs and clean tech. It's just a matter of time before such problems become an issue that will require some type of law enforcement. Would they allow anybody to just pull into a gas pump and park there for hours? It's even worse for EV owners that need to charge like yourself without many other options. With gas pumps, there are still many other pumps all over but for the growing number of EVs, those spaces are still very much needed. I'm sure you know about the L2 chargers at Harrahs in the garage and the surface lot across the street which isn't too far from Eldorado. If you use the Plugshare App, you will see many charging options at most casinos, Legends, Meadowwood mall, and others that you may frequent and can spend a few hours eating or watching a movie. Some require you to use your J1772 connector and some require you to have a ChargePoint card but most are free.

There was literally a murder in that garage a few years back.
