**** NOTE: We have transitioned to a new platform ****
More Info: Supercharging.Life database

This is a friendly contest for Tesla owners to track the number of unique public Superchargers where they have charged

- "Supercharger count" is the number of unique public Superchargers where you have charged (just being there does not count), whether or not you were the person plugging in the vehicle (such as a Valet Parking garage or a Passenger) and whether or not it was your own personal vehicle (such as a rental, a loaner, or a friend's Tesla) as long as you were the one who drove >50% of the distance to reach the charger(s).
- The list of chargers in the supercharging.life database are the ones included in the game. If you think one should be added or removed from the list, let us know.
- Only chargers available to the public without special permission are included in the game.
- Chargers not connected to the grid are not counted.
- Doublet locations like the North/South Supercharger 'pairs' in CT, ME, NH, etc. count as individual locations.
- More than 1 charger at the same address, such as Lenox Square Mall (Atlanta, GA) or Montgomery Mall (Bethesda, MD) count as individual locations when they appear as a separate location on the Tesla Nav screen.
- Inactive competitors will be archived and removed from the leaderboard. Just post an update to be reactivated.

See Supercharging.Life database for info on how to post your own visits to the database (preferred), or post your locations with date visited to this thread and one of the admins will update your list for you. All visits must be posted to this thread - not just entered in supercharging.life. If you are the first in the game to visit a supercharger location, please post to the thread as soon as you can so others know it has been visited.

There was some discussion upthread of visiting national parks on our road trips. Those interested in the subject might enjoy this Guardian article:

Arches national park had to close its gate more than 120 times this summer alone when parking lots filled up, creating a safety hazard for emergency vehicles. Yellowstone national park reached 1 million visitors in July for the first time in its history. At Zion national park, the wait for a hike was a Disneyland-long four hours. And with the visitors came graffiti, trash and reckless behavior.

There was some discussion upthread of visiting national parks on our road trips. Those interested in the subject might enjoy this Guardian article:

Just heard a story that Mount Rainier had a miles long backup at the busiest entrance this weekend. I've never heard of any type of traffic or backup at any of the national parks in WA before.

I think some of these issues will go away when the pandemic calms down (who knows how long that will be though!) and more people get comfortable flying again., but I doubt it will ever get back to the 2019 glory days. Part of the problem long term is just population growth. The other big factor is over time a higher percentage of Americans have the means to own cars, take time off work, and road trip to all these destinations.

I'd like to learn from those that have spent considerable time on the road about the best methods for getting hotels. It looks like my "retirement" will happen at the end of the year -- though I'm still struggling to internalize that as a real thing -- and one of the goals is to do a lot of supercharger hunting. While I might just sleep in the car some of the time, staying at hotels or AirBnBs is going to be much more common. My normal MO has been to just open Priceline and grab something wherever I am at that moment. I'm wondering if there are other ways to leverage loyalty cards or other tools to save some money or have an improved experience while still not having to reserve weeks or months in advance to get decent rates. Any insights from the road warriors in this group would be much appreciated.

On our long road trips we typically drive until we’re done & find a local hotel that we are reward members of. It’s only been a problem once in many years-when we left for Key West on Memorial Day weekend & didn’t plan ahead. Hotel that night was sketchy to say the least!
That being said we found it somewhat difficult to plan ahead as we never knew how long we were good for on any given day.
Yet we have still not had any problems since 2012 finding a place to stay at the last minute once we decided to stop for the day.
Even during COVID although pricing was sometimes ridiculous then.…
There is a site hotel now.com or similar that gives available rooms at the moment, sometimes deeply discounted.

This is about how we do it, too. I use Google Maps and Yelp for hotel research.

We had been staying mostly at Marriotts since they have a pretty decent points program but after Custer, @Randy Spencer turned us on to La Quinta hotels since they’re all pet friendly. They aren’t always the nicest but the price is usually pretty good. Not really recommended if you have allergies and no pets.

If you’re dabbling in car camping, alternating between the car and hotels can be a great way to save money and still enjoy a comfy bed and a shower regularly. I’ve found that two nights in the car and one night in a hotel (or at a friend’s house) is about my hygiene limit. I haven’t tried truck stop showers or campgrounds yet… maybe on some future trip.

Thank you. I guess maybe my existing strategy isn't so far off. Do you find you can accrue loyalty points when using services like Priceline and now.com? More often than not, I've been told no. When I try to make a last-minute reservation directly with the hotel, the rate is often much higher than through Priceline.

As for car "camping', with my disability I can't get in and out of the back so have to sleep in the seat. I've done it quite a lot but it isn't very comfortable, nor do I get good sleep. One night is about all I can do in a row.

Wondering if @PLUS EV has any tips and tricks he is willing to share.

We become Platinum IHG (Holiday Inn) users just about whenever I take a two or 3 week trip…and in most places have pretty okay prices. Always clean and they handle Covid protocols pretty well.

I have a hard time napping at SCs, but once a week I’m good for an overnight stint followed by mid aft checkin the next day.

And I stop when I get tired, even if just at a Rest Area with no charging. Probably a high crime around here. 😉

I really like Holiday Inn as well. I've been gravitating to them more and more on my road trips. Why is platinum worth it, and do you literally only pay for platinum by the month and then only during your trips?

You don’t pay a monthly or anything. You just accumulate points by # of stays. It is like most other rewards programs, you get demoted to lower levels if you don’t stay in one of their properties for some time. The perks are free bottled water or snack bags. Using points to avoid paying for a night is akin to airline miles - generally a rip off, but some benefit over time. Free stay one in 9 or 10? As a fallback we use Hilton (Garden Inns usually). But it is best to go with one main one, in my experience, otherwise their is little to be gained. I shudder to think of how they share this with third parties, but seems worth -some- risk.

I‘ve been accumulating CapitolOne air miles for the last four years for an Aussie/NZ trip where we don’t want to be crammed into Coach…and then Covid. Probably still a couple years out.

Supercharge.info has a 2nd pin for Inyokern even though they are in the same parking lot. Still only one pin in the Nav. How long do we wait to find out if this is a 2nd location or not?
Two pins on Tesla findus map. One pin on nav with 150kW max - so the new stalls are not showing. Supercharge.info has it as two addresses - corner lot.

Suggestion:
2 sites.
If Tesla combines them into a single site (one pin) or closes the original, mark the original as closed.
