Sat in a Kia EV6 today and my hair touched the headliner near the door. I'm about 1.8m and don't have bouffant hair. Really surprised how l little headroom there is upfront.
Trying to not be lazy and go M3 to MY without looking at alternatives, so far not impressed
Funnily enough I sat in a Kia EV6 today and was impressed by the space, how quiet it is and how solid it feels.
The owner keeps getting problems with the charge timer, though, so it makes me think their software is not particularly amazing.... I would definitely see it as a contender.

Did that one have a sunroof? I like the look and the space for passengers is very good. I didn't get a chance to drive it. Might have to give it another chance and take one for a spin.
What else are you looking at?

No sunroof on this one.
I'm not looking at anything as such. I bought my car outright and intend to keep it until it dies (hopefully in more than 10 years or so), but am always interested in seeing what alternatives there are.

Yeah, the insurance companies never miss an opportunity to extract some coin. Crazy really since better suspension surely improves safety.
I did have to a pay a little bit extra for the rest of the remaining 2 months insurance before renewal. The actual effect on the a full 12 months insurance is difficult to judge given the steep rises in Tesla insurance premiums over the last three years.

We actually ordered an EV 6 to move on from Model 3 but cancelled when it went from £10k to close to £30k to swap when 2nd hand prices dropped. Should have sold Model 3 at time of ordering but it was a 10-15 month wait for EV 6 at that time (was 9 months when we got told car was on boat at which point we cancelled for full refund).

I really liked the car and found that there was loads of space in it (to point that my son said that in back he felt a bit isolated). As for headroom, whilst I’m not 6” I never noticed even being remotely close to head lining on test drives even GTline S that had sunroof.

As well as there being potentially a couple of inches difference in height, swmbo did spend a bit if time playing with seat position of which iirc there is quite a lot of height adjustment with her trying to see the HUD properly.

So if you didn’t get to adjust seat height but was otherwise considering it, give it a second go.

We really liked it and felt the cabin a much nicer place to be - except for black head linings combined with smaller rear windows on that particular car. Felt very much a finished car well put together.

Surprised to hear of charging issues. It’s not like Kia are new to EV market although EV 6 is a bit of an electrical step up from the Neo etc.

Certainly mixed experiences with 2 different Kia garages. First we tried were really helpful until point that we went to order then got evasive about a couple of dealer fit options - got impression they didn’t want bother of fitting these to point that they told us to go down road to buy an after market towbar. Second one could not have been nicer and helpful, especially when we went in to cancel 9 months later. They would have organised dealer fit options, incl. tow bar before delivery even if the Kia towbar was fitted on site by a third party specialist.

As we normally keep our cars for their lifetime it was nice to have human touch to be able to discuss options and in second case, actually treated with some honesty and respect. Very different from our Tesla purchasing experience especially when you are stuck with one purchase option where as we could just go to a different garage when we thought we were being fobbed off.

Is the HUD not adjustable? 😯
It possibly does but in the middle of a test drive it was just easier to adjust the seat than read through the manual to find out how. Probably could have adjusted the steering height too. Never used a HUD before so probably would take a while to know what HUD, seat, steering positions work best. Certainly not long enough during a test drive or two.

How have you found moving over to the MY? Would you do the same?

Wanted hatchback (various cargo / ability to haul the dogs) from the outset, Got one of the first M3s (ditto the MY) in the country so it wasn't exactly new! so the die was cast.

M3 was much more fun to drive, much like various "tight, hot-hatches" I have had in the past. The MY isn't - I have had to work and concetrate hard when in a bit of a hurry on a twisty rural road that had some lousy deformation bumps in it. The suspension on my MY is very harsh - but I belive newer ones are more comfortable.

Rear visibility is tiny, but it hasn't bothered me.

Can't faulty the cargo capacity though. I have a flat bit of road near me, coming out of a 40. There is a gateway a couple of hundred yards further on. The MS and M3 both got to same terminal velocity, the MY is only about 3 MPH slower. All LR, none performance. (Wish I'd thought to use that test when I did have a performance MS)

Thanks, that's helpful and pretty much aligns with my thoughts and impression from the test drive. I'm hoping we'll get a date for the minor MY refresh announced for China, worth waiting for IMHO

For the USA, I'd have to say wait for assorted-vendors to convert their cars to NACS plugs. Being chained to CCS is just... awful and will never improve since it's being abandoned.

So starting in 2024/25 I'd look to the nicer Kia/Hyundai offerings at the low end, and probably MB/BMW at the upper end.
