WOO HOO!!!! First drive! Is going to take a bit of getting used to, especially the regen. But, boy does it go smoothly until you put your foot down!! Then the pussycat becomes a very fit young mean leopard!!! Fastest animal in the bush!!! And, whats more, i have an S85, not a P!! Hate to think what a P85D will do on Insane setting!!!! This far more than enough for me, and i like speed!

Congratulations. They're quite something aren't they. Imagine how you'll feel when you show a few other performance marques a clean set of heals. :)

Can't see you're comment. Must have been removed?

Thank you for pointing that out. No wonder it says "0 Comments" at the top. I think this media site is owned/controlled by Murdoch, that possible explains it's bias.

Australia - awaiting moderation.jpg

They probably have a lot of comments to moderate, and busy as a cat burying s... to find positive comments that are not about all the lies and misinformation in the "article"

First, a super congratulations to all of you who have been patiently awaiting the Tesla launch in Australia. What a relief it must be to finally have the car delivered!
I have been lurking here since many months and this is my first post here, now that I am preparing to place order very soon...

JFK, we also will have to wait for the SC to be installed in QLD, and for the service center in Brisbane, a bit disappointing, but somewhat understandable that Tesla decides about their funding priorities.
I do believe that setting up SC between Byron Bay and Noosa should attract a lot of potential buyers waiting for this infrastructure and clearly, I am not the only one as it seems Tritium has decided this is the way to go: Tritium Launches Fast Cities Network Charging Initiative in Eastern Australia - Electric Cars Report

Does anyone here already know the specs of the soon to be supplied Tesla mobile chargers for Australia and if these will have the necessary adapter to allow us taking juice from the Tritium Veefil fast chargers?

Tesla Model S iPhone app now available from the Australian App Store!
Downloading now.

Congrats Dborn, i'm often around the Crag so if a white Holden Commodore Utility flashes you, that'll be me. Of course after December 29 it will be a brown Model S.

Well we have now been wowed by the launch event which was quite something -even if we are still a bit short of answers.
I tried to get help from quite a few of the reps but almost all were very quiet about most things.

So I have a couple of questions which I hope others managed to get an answer to:-
Does the car here come with any sort of tire repair or fix kit?
Does the car come with any charging adapters or is the only current solution a supercharger or the wall unit most of us have?
(I was told that a standard wall cord was "in beta test at the moment")

And who was the very impressive singer??

I believe the next supercharger will be going in to Goulburn. (my sources). From the map, it like Albury will also get one.

Congrats mate - what's happening with your custom woodwork?
I can't wait for mine - very happy to hear that the S is still quick.

Thanks all!! As you might expect, been doing quite a bit of driving. It IS AN AWESOME car to drive. However, it is a very large car, especially since I have been driving a B class Merc for 7 years, although I used to drive a Lexus 430. It is taking a little longer than I expected to get used to regen on standard than I expected, but am getting there. Judging lane keeping, especially in tight areas is also taking a while. Turns in shopping centre car parks is a major headache at present, but I will get there. Visibility out the rear window is minimal and the sills on side windows are quite high. Using the camera all the time and have spent extra time adjusting wing mirrors. Do set auto tilt. You are going to need it. Also there is annoying distortion at the base of the windscreen, known issue from the forums. Overall though, these are nits. There are other settings issues ( minor) that I am going in today to the SC to discuss. One of which is rdio. Another is wifi. Another is how to change the voice on the gps.
My car has been issued as a service loan vehicle not as a demonstrator. THEY DO NOT COVER INSURANCE ON LOAN VEHICLES which I discovered after I got home at midnight!!! So, an urgent call to my broker goes out this morning. Can't leave my garage today until that is sorted.
The traffic density prediction on the gps is accurate ( press the traffic light icon). Voice recognition for gps works well, even with my funny South African/ Australian combo. Beats typing in addresses. Routing is accurate, but no way to choose alternate routes or display/ add traffic speed cameras.
The turning circle is surprisingly wide given this is a rear wheel drive. I was expecting somewhat tighter. Means lots of manoeuvring especially in my tight driveway with the size of the car. That's all for now folks enjoy your cars when you get them. Hopefully some of the issues above, which I think are going to be universal will be sorted out for you, following my visit today to the centre.

Awesome to hear your thoughts Dborn - keep em coming!

For those of us who are waiting I noticed a new section on My Tesla page today "Delivery". It has the address and the following message:

We will do our best to accommodate your desired delivery time frame. Your Delivery Experience Specialist will provide you with an update on your likely delivery date as information becomes available.

Mine now has the St Leonards address, and estimated date of December.

Mine has updated as well. Car STILL not in-country, but my delivery time fixed for 4-00pm 29/12.

So, here is some news. Our cars are delivered with the Rdio app for playing music on demand. You request "play Crackling Rosie by Neil Diamond" and it is supposed to search and start playing your request. You need an Rdio account. There are free accounts and paid ones. However, Our cars are not happy with the free account. My computer and iPad are and will play the requested music. The car merely turns up its nose and says "cannot play basic account". I am reluctant to purchase a paid account until i am certain that the car will play it. I don't need the service on my iPad or computer. Stone is fully in the picture and has seen the message on my 17inch. I am now waiting on feedback from him which i think is going to take some time, but should be available "soon".
Used the supercharger for the first time today. This is awesome!! vast amount of current flowing to start with - well over 200amps!!! It does drop down as the "tank" fills. Filled to 90% in about 45 mins, but that was OK because i was working through the issues with Stone and then had a coffee in the lounge there. walked out with about 440 km range!! I am still doing far too many watts per Km and i am not sure why. i am driving carefully and not jackrabbiting starts. Regarding WiFi, apparently you just touch the 3G icon and go from there to pair. It so happens that my car spontaneously opened the pairing screen this morning and pairing was easy. Only have one bar though, so not sure if it is good enough for updating, and updates are going to be needed for sure and not just for the autopilot hardware. The nav system needs serious work, comparing it with say a Tom Tom. It really is quite rudimentary. At present, you cannot change the spoken voice from the nice US lady. Stone initially thought you could, but apparently the alternative voice is British, and he thinks that this has been removed for Australia to avoid offending us. Probably will be fixed in a future upgrade. As he says, things are a bit chaotic. They have only been open 2 days and it is a bit like herding cats!!
