Hi there have tesla gotten back to you with a delivery time? Did they say this week?

Well no, just me being overly optimistic, Spoke to a Sydney delivery person Friday arvo, apparently my car still hasn't even got to the prep stage yet, what are they doing up there? Early December I was being told by the end of December! Any other Melbourneites want to come with me to storm the ramparts?
Timpoo did you receive my private message re 2 S`s for your list? All this high tech stuff is a bit foreign to me.

I'm in exactly the same boat. .. all puns intended!

Fly out next Thursday to Meribel/France & Wengen/Switzerland for 3 weeks next Thursday!

They'd better have Sparky on my door step the day after I get back else I'm gunna go postal! :cursing:

Looks like Tesla gave the site a revamp.

Yes and quite an update too. More upmarket look and feel to the site and a fair bit more information available. It strikes me that this is benchmarked more against other high end marques?

Also has an updated mobile specific site.

In other news had my first Tesla Moment with a stranger today. I went out to our local shopping super centre and just after I locked the car a guy came up to me and said "wow, I didn't realise they had been released here yet". Chatted with him for about 5 minutes and showed him around the car. He was reasonably well informed as he volunteered it had the larger battery and got the whole concept of the car. He was a bit disappointed when I told him how much it cost, maybe a future model 3 or second hand owner in a few years....

But some parts could still be updated, and the Americans really need to understand a little more geography!

The words used in by the auto dealers in that article are VERY similar to the words used the by US auto industry. I wonder if they have been collaborating?

Lucky we don't have any Dealer protection laws like they do in the US as far as I'm aware?

The ACCC won't give a crap - it doesn't impact competition, it only helps consumers.

Is there any indication the VACC had a hand in the delay of Tesla's dealer license?
Or is the delay typical bureaucracy, and the reporter independently asked the VACC for their opinion with the predicted result? No surprise they want to protect their own.

It's like the reporter asking a Mazda car dealer to comment on the WA Electric highway and getting "I don’t think this electric cars concept will ever take off" because Mazda don't make any electric cars.
If they'd asked a Nissan dealer the answer may have been different (although the Leaf isn't selling well, so maybe not)

Coming up next: we ask a dairy farmer about the benefits of soy milk

Cross quoting from Supercharger thread:
Not at the Star; casinos get away with a ton of stuff and would have just hooked it up to their power anyway. Not too much major work involved, unlike digging up parking spaces in semi-public areas for a few days and installing outside electrical equipment like most SCs.

Edit: Speaking of Superchargers...

(Citipower electrical substation which the building to be the Tesla workshop is built around)

And also these pictures. Sadly the building isn't as nice as the Sydney service centre/show room just in the way it was built, no double height windows etc. However, with it being so huge I think they have a lot of space to work with in the future, I can't tell if Tesla bought this building, but given the amount of changes and infrastructure being put in such as the superchargers I can only assume it is at least a long term lease. It is unfortunate it isn't visible from Church Street like many of the other auto showrooms in the area (Zagame's Lamborghini, Ferrarri, Audi and Maserati locations are on Swan street not too far away with new high profile showrooms) so they will have less brand awareness from people passing by unless they work in the same business park area (or see the cars out on test drives)

I think the northern half of the building will be the customer delivery area, where they will put some doors into the glass walls to allow cars out, you can already see three new metal support beams (second picture below) for a door system to hang from. While the southern side with the superchargers will be the show room. There is one delivery bay for the workshop on the south side (as seen below) while the north side has two large doors.

Edit: Note that the number of carparks dug up is 9 (plus some landscaping), although I assume they will rebuild a curb/gutter and put signage on that Dale Street fronting carspot and probably use the one closest to the entrance for plantings/landscape or signage, so expect room for an estimated 8 supercharger carspaces, possibly made a bit wider if they don't use all the room from the remaining spot if they do build on those. 9 carparks on the other side too, although four will have to be removed for the customer delivery doors. There are three car parks on either side of the building at those undercrofts, those would probably remain staff parking though.

Looking inside, the top image is the northern end, where I think they will have two delivery bays for customers. It has three new metal support beams next to the windows installed, probably for large glass doors and I think they could easily put in a false wall between the workshop and the showroom for cars awaiting delivery to be moved in the right area. The southern (left as you enter) side of the room looks to be the main 'show room' area with room for a car or two, reception is in the middle as you enter with stairs up to offices on either side.
