Tesla Software updates - Australia

A lot of folk might roll their eyes at such an old-school wish, but it would be nice if a Tesla software update included an MP4 player to complement its audio player. So old fuddy duddies could play USB stored video content when the car is in park, if they wanted to.

Elon did hint at doing it many years ago but it never happened. Else open the Tesla App Store and someone will port VLC!
Interesting that you can play audio but not video, im sure that could be done in software. Get rid of twitch, i dont even know what that is, i thought its something my eyes do when new software comes out hahaha

Snippets don't necessarily go anywhere, greentheonly had also discovered code a few years ago that detected other Tesla's model and colour, with the assumption they would be shown differently, but nothing has seemingly come of that.
That would be cool. Or you could just look out the window :)
I have this strange new euphoric feeling when you pull up at the lights and all 3 lanes have Teslas or EVs, The Times, they are a changin'

Hey all, I just got off the phone with Tesla Canberra about my M3 delivery next week and used the opportunity to ask if they'd be cool for me to bring in my UMC so they could update its firmware.

They hadn't heard of the issue at all and suggested it's likely already fixed, and to schedule in a service request if I have any issues post-delivery.

Does anyone have any correspondence from Tesla on this issue that I can show them? Any emails/texts etc to help show the Canberra team what they need to do (and that the problem is still valid today) to ensure the update goes through using another car.

Thanks, would really appreciate this. Keen to avoid the 8A charging if I can!

Thank you for contacting Tesla Support!

With regards to your Web Inquiry -
'L1: Vehicle Charging, L2: Home Charging & Installation, description: Product: Mobile Connector
Model: Gen 2
Concern: Other
LED State: Green
P/N:
S/N:
VIN:
Additional comments (optional): Just trying to get the 10A and 15A plugs to work at 10A and 15A - currently 8 and 12.
Im going to try and lower the SOC and then charge again, see if the car pushes an update...'

You can perform the below exercise to trigger an off-board update on your Mobile Connector -
  • Make sure the vehicle's battery state of charge (SOC) is above 50%.
  • Move the SOC target slider on the vehicle's touchscreen to a value below the current state of charge.
  • Connect the vehicle to the Gen 2 UMC.
  • Make sure all vehicle doors are closed and Climate System is off.
  • The UMC update will start as soon as the center display is off.
  • The update may take between 5-10 minutes. On the Gen 2 UMC, the Tesla "T" LED will flash green during the update process which is expected.
Please note, there is a known characteristic with vehicle software 2023.20 or newer that is causing UMC updates to fail.

Please connect to a strong Wi-Fi connection whenever possible to allow future firmware updates to download when they become available.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thank you for helping to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy.

Kind regards,

Ishani

The delivery centre people might well not have a suitable car available near a power point - you'd be better off dropping by the service centre at Beard and asking if they can do it (they will also know for sure if the issue is fixed yet or not).

I didn't know the Service Center was at Beard - I've only been to Hume once and assumed it was a multi-purpose facility. That's really good to know - I'll try that, thank you.

Apple Maps does this. I find it way to long and miss 5 seconds of the Pod cast or what ever I am listening to, it just needs a beep or something unique that you are familiar with, doesn't need to fade out the audio.
When the Waze alert comes on I’ve found that things running from the phone seem ok (audible, Soundcloud, bandcamp). They either keep going where they left off or rewind a couple of seconds so you hear the last word again.
If using the car (Spotify, Apple Music) it isn’t as exact most of the time.

Speed camera chimes (ed) as well on 2024.14
