Done that twice. no joy. My car does not have an update stuck. It just does not get updates anymore.
Once you know the right spot to swipe from, you can get it every time (directly above the end of the line that extends out horizontally from the three dots). On the tyre pressures. I always found the swipe hit and miss, more often than not it just rotated the views of the cars.
But like many things, people don't like change
Most of us are not opposed to change and having the menu unified so all things go into same structure is a good idea. What I do not like is that this change is hiding things under a menu that used to be easier to access or visible on the main screen at quick glance.I think in general the whole concept has been simplifying and decluttering the main screen and having a common way to access all settings
(Although some some would say the coloured icons add clutter) and I suspect that was driven by Interface specialists and focus groups.
Almost everything is available under the car/settings button
Including profile, LTE/wifi, alerts, sentry status and record button
Or a second press for tyre pressure and trip meter.
But like many things, people don't like change
If Tesla reverts in say two weeks, then there will probably be also an outcry as people have then gotten used to the new paradigm
Thats a bit rough expecting dashcam stability to be resolved when they have been busy preparing a mission critical headlight show. Most of us are not opposed to change and having the menu unified so all things go into same structure is a good idea. Personally I don't have more than one profile on car, so that does not matter to me however the dashcam function I use constantly and have had some interesting footage over the last few years. Now, over the last 2 days I have had to periodically while driving check the menu to see if my USB drive was still working and recording. If it stops working, I just unplug it and plug it back and it starts working again. If they fixed the stability issues of that function, so the USB drive never stopped recording or would reset it from software if it runs into issues or would show a warning/error icon on main screen if it was experiencing issues, I would not mind it being under menu, however as it is very unstable in its current form, and I have tried 5-6 different USB drives, currently using Samsung SSD there where all have same stability issues. I prefer it to be visible on screen so I can check on it every few minutes while driving without having to drill through menus to see if it was still working. About a year ago when USB had issues it did actually display warning on screen, but that has vanished a few updates ago. In its current state since that version 11 update, removing it from main screen is more of a distraction than help and does cause less attention to road and more to checking if the system is working by going through menus.
I understand that they are working towards getting the car to be driven by AI, and then playing with menus and having less on the screen is a great idea, however since most of the world is not even getting the beta for FSD yet, they seem to have jumped the gun on that and started cleaning up things that are good and useful to the driver, so hopefully with enough feedback they might re-instate some of the more useful things on main screen or make it optional to display a notification bar with customizable icons that can be useful and used as quick access.
That is kinda frustrating in your position. I haven’t read any of your previous posts on the dash cam issue, but have Tesla had a play with it? Mine is solid as a rock. 1 and only issue was after the latest update it wouldn’t format properly, but has since recovered. Most of us are not opposed to change and having the menu unified so all things go into same structure is a good idea. Yes, my Model 3 is still on nav data ver 2020.24, I questioned Tesla about a nav/map update and they said it's current for my VIN range, whereas my Model X go the nav data update 2021.32 weeks ago.Anyone else not getting the navigation update?
Happy new yearThats a bit rough expecting dashcam stability to be resolved when they have been busy preparing a mission critical headlight show.
My 3SR+ got the 2021.32 nav update in August, and that's just about when the random set speed slowdowns on motorway started, so if you don't have those random slowdowns, hope they skip that nav update for you.Yes, my Model 3 is still on nav data ver 2020.24, I questioned Tesla about a nav/map update and they said it's current for my VIN range, whereas my Model X go the nav data update 2021.32 weeks ago.
Since everyone else appears to be having no issues with the USB drives, I need to do more testing on this. I have an idea. Initial issues I had were when i got the car in September 2019, was probably the USB stick as I used a 128GB USB stick and it had random speed fluctuations, so sometimes I got the warning that the USB was not fast enough, then I upgraded to a 256GB USB drive, but that overheated during sentry and being parked in the sun, So I bought that Jeda Tesla Model 3 USB Hub and Jeda Wireless Charging pad, also upgraded to another drive that did not overheat, so then noticed that the USB still disconnected randomly while driving without overheating or throwing speed errors. Since then have tried another few drives with different sizes from 512 to 2TB with all the same issues. Are you suggesting that USB Dashcam stability has degraded with the latest update? Or is this an ongoing issue that's just harder to see now?
My MobileMate plus Pro SD card has been bulletproof.
The only slight change to Dashcam I'd like is to be able to tag clips as Save/Favourite so I can use the bulk delete feature.
From various people who had done lots of tests before Tesla started including drives. the recommendations were.Would it be worth buying the overpriced Tesla 128mb drive from the website?
That way you can say it IS their drive and IS their car, please fix.
Sure, but my point was one of compatibility and common brand to avoid the finger pointing. From various people who had done lots of tests before Tesla started including drives. the recommendations were.
1. An SSD - like the Samsung T5 or T7
2. An adapter (eg SanDisk MobileMate) and dashcam/CCTV grade SD card - generally referred to as High Endurance or Pro series.
Your basic USB stick drive is designed for occasional usage, not continuous recording.
The Tesla one is just a rebadged Samsung afaik, and can be had for cheaper in its original form
Samsung Bar Plus USB 3.1 Flash Drive (128GB)
With SAMSUNG has delivered the goods once again. Buy online or instore today at JB Hi-Fiwww.jbhifi.com.au
Its no doubt better quality than a cheap stick,
But I'd jump on to Amazon and buy an adapter and pro grade SD card instead.
I have the same issues with USB dashcam and requires unplugging and replugging it. I used to have a USB stick on Tesla’s approved list but kept getting warnings about it not being fast enough. Later switched to an SSD. It’s plugged directly into the USB A port, no hubs.Since everyone else appears to be having no issues with the USB drives, I need to do more testing on this. However since everyone else here mentions that theirs are working and Tesla service has already told me that they don't show any issues on the car side, I am starting to wonder if it might be a power issue. Since the car has only those 2 USB A sockets in the front there and that Jeda HUB splits it into 5 USB ports of which 2 are powering the wireless charger and one is powering the USB drive. Most of the time I drive, my phone sits on the wireless charging pad, so it might be that the power draw from those 2 USB A sockets cannot provide enough power or are just at the limit of that power so when it goes over that limit, the drive goes off and does not start back up without re-plugging?
I have to test that and unplug the wireless phone charger for a few days to see if that stops the problem.
