BTW my delivery date changed from Late August to September again. This roller coaster is still going strong! Also no final invoice :(

Hey, how do you type that three dash symbol?

You will get your final invoice now if you ask your delivery specialist for it - as I did. Standard questionnaire, name to be registered in, private or commercial use, specialised number plates, copy of driv lic, etc...

Good actually that your delivery date changed. Not that I want you to be back a month, I don't. But it confirms what local Tesla is telling us that all the Aussie inbounds pass through customs simultaneously...

Personally I am hoping we all get them late August on the basis that they have conservatively estimated time delays that will not all eventuate.

I copy and pasted it from the linked Wikipedia page.

Ah yes I got that questionnaire. I told them I haven't decided whether to finance or pay cash, that's probably why they couldn't generate an invoice for me. Better make up my mind soon.

If the estimate is indeed conservative then I hope all the stars align and they deliver in early August, because I'll be out of town in late August :(

I think we would have to go into production next week for that to occur. The fact that you moved to September instead of me moving to late August makes me more sceptical.

I think you might have something here. The E symbol may have been designed to attract the Chinese customers.

三 is 3 in Chinese and some other Asian languages like Japanese. The lines are not equal length but close to the model 3/E symbol and they can still get S 三XY as the model range... What will come after Y?

Just realised that it also looks like a dropdown menu. But I would not be surprised if they had the Chinese market in mind.

Hey baillies, I reckon you will be able to test drive a Model X by the end of the year. As for the wife's understanding of the family's finances.... Maybe never...

From a conversation I had at the Richmond service centre yesterday, there is a chance the very first few D's ordered will arrive ahead of the next large batch. I had a look in the storage area out the back, there was more than a dozen cars in there prepping for delivery I assume. One sig red in the workshop getting a bit of work done on a door (glass was out). Workshop was very clean, almost spartan with very limited tooling etc, reflecting I guess the lack of mechanical complexity of the cars.

I sincerely hope that us late-comers are included in the late August batch but my fear is that it is still staggered somewhat and that we are expected in September and late September...

But you of course are late August and so we will be relying upon you to keep us all up to date and informed!

Today I went back to September delivery.... :)

Actually, I'd planned to truck it, partly because I want to cover it in XPEL film before I drive it anywhere.

Your call on that. I am not familiar with that product. My prejudice tells me that if anything like that is any good, why then the factory, indeed all car factories would include it on all cars; why not eh?

I have driven to Adelaide in the past. Stopped at Hay on the way. With a Tesla, would have to stay for 2 nights to recharge I think. But it is a big journey and a big commitment. But so too is trucking it there. New car too... Hope they don't damage it! -

My delivery date just changed from September to Late September.......

This is the first time it has changed since I confirmed my order.

That is truly frightening Trav. Hope you're not the first domino. We have all played that game before. I have noticed that waiting for Tesla is so full of hope. Wish we had less hope and more certainty.

My date has always been Late Sept, but I am fully expecting slippage into October. No VIN or invoice yet for me.
I think the HK and Aus D's will ship together and the ship will do a milk run US (maybe a Hawaii stopover?)->Japan (pick up some japanese cars for delivery to HK/Aus)->HK->Aus which would see cars arrive in Aus early Sept at best, then they will probably be prepped for delivery giving priority to those who ordered first.

Does anyone have any news on HPWC's? I was told a 3 phase unit would be available before my delivery and am hoping this is still the case, else i might need to look at 3rd party solutions.

If you are expecting documents from TM and you don't use Micro$oft, sometimes a great heap of attachments end up in a single attachment called 'winmail.dat' - it's worth checking, my invoice hid there for weeks.

I emailed the tesla guy last week regarding this the new chargers. They still have not arrived and he was not expecting them until late July or Aug. I have opted to wait until the new one arrives. He did offer the old style charger for immediate delivery so I don't think you will need to look at a third party option.

He did explain that even though I have 3 phase at home my charging rate would be the same, unless I installed duel charges. Unfortunately this will be difficult with no service centre in WA.......

i am told the cars go to Syd or Melbourne for pre delivery at which point you can have a second charger fitted. It is then put on a truck/train to Perth.

My house is wired for 3 phase and is reasonably evenly split across phases so I think a 3 phase how'd is the way to go and wouldn't require any load shedding or balancing to charge the car at max rate.

I have 3 phase. My cable to my charger is 3 phase. My breaker for that circuit is 3 phase. Currently 2 phases are capped off. When 3 phase connector arrives, it is a simple swap over. For signatures, and those with dual chargers, the swap over is free and was promised from the start. I think the electrician is still for our own account.

Dborn, have you ever needed to charge at the maximum three phase dual charger rate at home? Does it really matter if charging stops at 1 AM instead of 6 AM? On the rare occasions that you need to drive somewhere quickly you can always use a SuperCharger.

True, dual chargers may allow for unforeseen contingencies but if they were really necessary then surely Tesla would have them installed by default. What do you think?
