Things I worry about

p.s. having owned a convertible for the last decade and a half, with drainage holes liable to clog with leaves at this time of year, I don’t worry about leaks in this solid watertight beast of a Tesla construction. In its dying days before WBAC took my last car on - I was using nappies to soak-up the worst from behind my drivers seat. And any passenger-side flooding imperilled the underseat ECU!

COVID-19 is highly unlikely to kill him. No wonder stock price hasn’t budged.

Not knowing his underlying health history I'm not sure anyone could say that. If he was a statistically average man of his age and background then you're correct ... but unfortunately real people are individuals who do not always match the statistical average. There are plenty of people in his age group who have died from Covid-19.

I think he'll be fine, especially if this article has any truth to it:

Even if he does get away with it, there is long Covid which may significantly affect what he can do going forward.

We know someone who had a serious viral infection back in January and still needs 2 hospital visits per week for specialist treatment for a condition believed to have been related to the virus. The hospital are now thinking that his viral infection was in fact covid.

They are not too much older than EM, but if he was still working (retired very early) in his former very senior position for a large international company, it wouldn't surprise me if the company would have been impacted by him not being 100%. If similar happens to EM, the impact on Tesla could be far reaching, irrespective on how much the covid infection directly affects him. Its a time when rest is needed otherwise it can come back to bite.

Whilst that sounds like sensible advice, I don’t think there is any evidence to support it.
Fact is, we don’t understand the disease well and it appears that it’s mostly benign.... except when it isn’t, in which case it truly sucks.
Personally, I wouldn’t panic if I was diagnosed with it but I’d MUCH rather not catch it.

Wholeheartedly agree with your comments regarding the possible impact of Elon getting “long COVID”, though. And I think that would be a true loss for humanity.

That really sucks, I’m sorry to hear.

The next few years will be fascinating, there is just so much data to sift through to understand this thing.
Yes, it's luck of the draw & there's often no obvious correlation.

I had always believed that males were more susceptible & age plays a significant part yet she's 59 but suffering quite badly & I'm 63, had the same positive test result but am now absolutely fine. None of us (my wife was positive as well) have ever smoked and would be regarded as fit and eat a healthy diet.

Symptoms were very mild for all three, mostly just a weird headache & degrees of smell/taste loss (for me total loss for a few weeks so at the time I suppose my symptoms were 'worse' than theirs). My wife & I were asked subsequently by the NHS if we would give blood plasma donations & couldn't understand why she had to undergo tests but I didn't. Apparently a male immune system goes into overdrive to a greater degree than than females and creates higher and longer lasting antibody levels but females have to be tested first as often the levels are insufficient to help people in critical care.
