This is what it displays when I select USB with a hub connected and 2 thumb drives with music:

Does anyone know of a cigarette lighter / USB splitter that will fit in the 3 that will not interfere with the tray? I want to be able to do what that video shows with the USB but also still be able to have the cigarette lighter port. There are plenty of USB only adapters that will fit but I'm not sure if any combo adapters fit.

Something like this : Will this fit or is the plug too big for the tray?

I bought this exact one about 4-5 months ago and returned it because the plug would not stay in the 12V accessory socket. Kept sliding out and losing power, especially if the roads were bumpy. Maybe they changed the design since then.

That is unfortunate news. There are a couple I ordered to test out. I wouldn't need it except I am going to be installing a power magic battery and I also want to use the higher power USB. Gonna try this one too since it appears the plug is small. We'll see how it goes.

I wanted to save the 2 front USB ports for a music jump drive and the soon-to-arrive TeslaCam drive. I have seen conflicting reports about using USB hubs (Tesla Model 3 manual suggests that this won't work). I also wanted my Nomad wireless charging pad to get full power. I got the low profile Aukey 12V dual port 2A/10W USB adapter, and a couple of 1 meter USB extension cables. I tested the cables with my iPhone--seemed to work fine. I ran the cables from the 12V in the rear console of my 3 to the front (as per the RPMTesla video) and hooked up the Nomad--no joy. I could not get the Nomad to kick in and charge. If the Nomad was connected with its hard wired and short USB cables directly to the Aukey, all good. Same if I connected the Nomad directly to the front 2 USB ports. And I could still charge my iPhone with the Lightning cable plugged into the USB extension cables. I have sent this to Nomad tech support. Maybe there is some kind of voltage drop or signaling issue using the extension cables that makes the Nomad unhappy.

Plan B:

I am going to run 12V from the wires powering the 12V outlet (as seen in other videos) and will install a new additional 12V outlet in the front phone compartment next to the existing USB ports. PITA but necessary. YMMV.

Has anyone had any luck with finding a Hub that has 2 ports, one port for Data (USB 3.0), and one port for power?

I have a Nomad wireless charger which occupies both USB ports, and would need to split one for the USB thumb drive.
I’m in same situation. Don't want to bring USB extension cable from the rear 12V outlet (although doesn’t look too difficult to do). I was thinking about using this but not sure how much of a power hit I’d take. Maybe I can find a similar adapter that’s USB 3.0 capable which has more power if I’m not mistaken

I haven't tried this yet but might run this from the back 12V to the phone compartment. Big Anker fan.

It would leave both Front USB plugs open for Music and Dashcam stuff and provide plenty of power to the Phone Tray and whatever else I might want to power.

Now, if I could just power the 12v cooler in the trunk...

Let us know if it fits with the top tray. Otherwise that does look like an optimal solution.

I saw this recommended in a YouTube video for this purpose: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EL7INUG/

So I got 2 of these splitters as suggested in multiple posts:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01EL7INUG/?tag=tmc064-20

I hooked them up. I got the Nomad to power up and the jump drives connected. Seemed OK. Went to bed. This morning I woke up my 3, and nothing worked. The car would not power the Nomad, and did not see the jump drives. I unplugged the splitters, and connected the Nomad directly to the front USB ports. All good. Not sure if the splitter cables are the answer. I'm going to try the Anker 12v powered USB hub:

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-5-Port-Charger-PowerDrive-iPhone/dp/B00OHE8AOI/?tag=tmc064-20

to power the Nomad, and just plug the jump drives directly into the USB ports on the 3.

Interesting, I haven't tried the splitter yet but that's not encouraging. I won't have my Nomad probably for a month so keep us updated on how the Anker solution works for you, I may go that route as well.

Hm, I just installed the Nomad today and have been wondering about this. The Nomad site says that you can run the charger from only one USB (at lower power) but the pad won't turn on unless both are connected. It sounds like maybe after the car goes to sleep and then restarts the pad won't initiate due to only one usb connected. I think their use-case is, yeah you can disconnect a usb and plug something in but only on per-trip basis.

I hate to use the 12V plug to hub approach but it might be the only way.

FWIW this is the one I ordered from other posts on here-

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01KX4TKH6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

EDIT-

After further review- nope, it works fine for charging OR data on the port marked for doing both.

It doesn't work at all, for either thing, on the other port. Even if it's the only port being used.

So that was 6 bucks wasted.
