Configured black/ aero /eap on 4/12. I need to stop refreshing the page to check for VIN.
Same config, 4/7. Should the shutdown give me a break from F5'ing every 30 minutes? Yes. Will it? Ha, nope. It's remarkable how much my heart sinks every time I see that RN #. For an added twist, I keep my eye on the Production tab on the invites spreadsheet. See who's getting their VINs while I'm not. Just when the aeros start getting fulfilled, we go on pause!

Just wondering, has Troy altered the estimated delivery spreadsheet to account for this latest delay?

The delay may equal greater output. If, for example Tesla was making 250 cars per day and they shut down for 5 days. If the new rate is 350/day after the upgrades, they will make up for the lost output in 3.5 days, and within 2 weeks time they will have exceed the total output that would have occurred pre upgrades.

That depends on whether or not they can hit 350/day as soon as they reopen production. Wouldn't they need time to ramp up again?

It's possible, a few days to get back up to full speed. After the Feb 20-24 shutdown, Troy's sheet showed no VIN assignment until Feb 27, then ~ 10 days later on 3/11, the flood gate on VIN assignment opened. Assuming similar schedule, this shutdown could be 4/17-21, then we see invites again by 4/24 at current pace, then by early May we see another big step up. Tesla's quarterly financial conference call should be around May 10th. This timing will line up nicely to give some good news at the conf call.

For those of you who have been mashing the refresh button waiting for a VIN number (like me), I think I have something that may scratch that itch:

1. Open "the spreadsheet"
2. Apply a "custom filter", and fill in your details to the following columns:
a. Country (column E)
b. Ownership Status (column F)
c. Color (column Q)
d. Wheels (column R)
3. Sort by VIN Assignment Date (column O)

Now you should have a good idea of how VIN assignment is progressing for your configuration! Here's what it looks like for me (Red, Aero, Non-owner, USA):

From this, I can see that they're currently assigning VINs to people with my car configuration who were invited on March 22. I was in the April 6 batch of invites, so I've got a couple more days to wait before I should get my hopes up when mashing refresh.

Hope this helps you figure out when it's "your turn!" Play around with the filters and let me know if you glean any other insights :)

Great tip! I can't figure out how to save any filters though... got any pointers?

Alternatively, there's this great chart on the "Production" tab of the sheet, where you just have to find the column corresponding to your configuration, but you have to scroll all the waaaaay over to the right of the production tab just to see it, even on my 27 inch monitor.

FWIW, I only discovered this just yesterday from a post on this thread....

Looks like Tesla got their Aero/sports wheels ratio wrong. They got more sports than people are ordering but not enough aero. Even in Earo, they got the colors mix wrong - making too many Silver compared to other colors.

The big question is - if they are assigning VINs to cars already produced, how many people will get VINs before we have to wait for resumption of production.

After 22-Mar (where most have got VINs), the next big invite was on 6th. And then 10th & 13th.

This is my first posting on TMC. This is what I have experienced with the M3 ordering process.

First a short background. I placed a reservation of an M3 for my wife on mothers day, May 2017. Then hurricane Harvey hit Houston and my Lexus LS was flooded/totaled. We decided to buy her a Model S (I took her old car) and took delivery early October. This bumped me up on the wait-list for the M3.

We got the invite to configure on Feb 14th while vacationing in Asia. Decided to place the order from overseas on Feb 23rd and paid the deposit. Almost 6 weeks later, I was assigned a VIN on April 3rd. Talking to my Delivery Specialist (DS) a few days later, she said the car had already been made and moved to some town in Calif. where it was 'waiting for all documentations' to be completed. It so happens that Texas laws do not allow Tesla to sell any cars inside the state lines. So all financial transactions have to be completed before they ship the car.

I was calling my DS everyday to push the process along, or else nothing would get done. No sure what their workload is. So finally, on April 16th, they scheduled a delivery date of April 26th. So the wait continues............

PS. My config is Pearl white, long range, premium upgrade, E auto-pilot, Aero.
