I'm thinking with all the comments I've seen (or should I say 'concerns') about how the X windshield will make driving into the sun a big problem, perhaps the hats should be included as standard equipment for all new owners at delivery...

Personally, I think that glass would be fantastic on the S too...

I'm waiting for the thread of the first person who has to replace the X windshield because of a rock-induced crack. Perhaps we should start a sympathy fund now?

Yeah, thought about that.... and 'me too'. It's going to happen. My insurance has a $200 deductible for windshield replacement. I was not impressed that I had to use it in the second month of ownership...!

Might also want a sympathy fund for the glass repair shop employees who have to do the replacement...

We got the two nice leather fob pockets.

I was very happy with the delivery process. They expedited the car prep and fit us in to an already full day on Saturday (I changed the factory order to an inventory car purchase just that Wednesday).

It was kind of cool that we had the same delivery specialist as we did for our first Model S. ;)

We had already gotten three of the driver's group hats (one for each of us, and one for our 3-year-old ) when we ordered the car. Mine's getting fairly broken in, already—and I'm not a huge fan of the stiff-front style hats.

We also placed an order for winter floor mats and a hook for hanging the mobile connector cord on. The parts guys were able to include both with the delivery of the car (so, no shipping), but even cooler, threw in the hook for free! It's really nice keeping the cable off the garage floor and tucked out of the way when we leave.

The car also came with the leather fob pockets, which are nice, but I'd much rather they include contact Abstract Ocean and use those instead. (We just received ours, and they feel much nicer in your pocket, plus you can click the buttons much easier.)

I'm happy, especially with the referral discount!

Have you considered an Xpel film for the windshield? Very common for track cars.
Around here, winter just means stone damage. I've never heard of films being used for this purpose in Canada and I expect that's because the constant pelting with stones and sandblasting by finer material would just grind anything softer than glass to bits. It only takes a couple of winters to make driving into the sun difficult thanks to all the small sandblasted pock marks and scratches in the glass surface... to the point that you actually look forward to a good chip or crack to justify a replacement! :crying: I imagine the same effect occurs in warmer climates, but it probably takes a little longer to get to the point where replacement is really required.

I have the same issue of "death by a billion pock marks" on windshields too. I think it's an artifact of a lot of highway driving where a combination of winter road salt and sand is used. My understanding is that no films of any type are allowed on the windshield (at least in Ontario where I live).

Yes, when I think about a film, I get a visual of cheap sun glasses at the beach, looking like they've been polished with sandpaper. I agree, it's a consequence of winter driving, especially on highways as you say. The closest I get to a film is Rain-X, in the hope that the sandy muck that covers my windshield will wipe off easier and with less scratching of the glass! Fewer swipes = less damage.

Spoiler alert!
Yup, but I bet the welcome sign next to your car and paperwork needing a physical signature will have your name, not mine! Mike is a neat guy. Most efficient and satisfying delivery I've ever had ... As good, if not better than my multiple past Lexus experiences and certainly those from BMW and MBZ that were pretty ho-hum in comparison. ENJOY when your time rolls around real soon!

Our DS stopped by our house early this week to have my wife sign some paperwork in advance of delivery next week. She dropped off two kids Tesla T-shirts for my 4 and 2 year old, which the loved. Also a hilarious little onesie for my newborn that says "Zero Emissions..." on the front and "...almost." on the back. Very thoughtful!

AH, ATX, I miss you. Adorable.

I got two key holders that are pretty useless. Not silicone, so you have to "squeeze" them out to use them. Recycle bin.
