Around here, winter just means stone damage. I've never heard of films being used for this purpose in Canada and I expect that's because the constant pelting with stones and sandblasting by finer material would just grind anything softer than glass to bits. It only takes a couple of winters to make driving into the sun difficult thanks to all the small sandblasted pock marks and scratches in the glass surface... to the point that you actually look forward to a good chip or crack to justify a replacement! :crying: I imagine the same effect occurs in warmer climates, but it probably takes a little longer to get to the point where replacement is really required.
