Buy Model 3 Now or Wait? [jan 2023]

If you are ready for it get it. You will always be waiting for the “next best thing” otherwise. Overall, your differences from the first 3 to roll off the lines to todays are minor compared to a traditional manufacturer. In addition you can’t really know when Tesla is going to implement a...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Yes. I’m not sure where in here (this forum), but there was a guy back about Christmas that ordered door sills and the box that arrived was a retrofit kit. Before he made the return arrangements he cracked it open and took some picks. Seems like it basically is the same as the DIY thread...

    Supercharger - Dothan, AL

While the north side of Dothan would be great…and I suspect we will see one, with the cars starting to show up pretty regularly with college students, Troy might not be an unlikely choice for the future.

    Supercharger - Dothan, AL

Interesting that Dothan is still listed on the voting list, even with this one going live. (Or it was as of last Friday.)

    Supercharger - Dothan, AL

Very excited as this is the dead area for going to relatives there. Coming in from 431 and going out either 231 south or 84 easy stop. Not far even for travelers coming down 231 and going south either. Great!!

    Elon & Twitter

Or maybe he just doesn’t mind calling out where they simply were not performing - there is plenty of that to go around.

My Model 3 had a stroke it seems like

Maybe - my last (2016) only had to have the reared replaced at 24k, but other than that, I can’t think of a significant failure…. It happened, and they handled it, and a very good vehicle overall. Mercedes - one cracked an exhaust manifold at 10k…another had a very annoying random ignition...

    Frunk opening itself after 2022.36.2

Oh god…I am dying laughing. I am glad you have a good sense of humor about these things - never loose that. :). Hopefully it gets resolved quickly.

Trading in my Model 3 today...should I remove my Homelink so that I can install it in my new Model Y?

For the relatively minor cost to have one installed, and to have it covered under warranty with the vehicle, I can’t see why you would bother.

So far so good with mine - it is doing great. If/when it fails I will update.

M3P loosing range after one month

You already have a large number of answers here. However, I am going to add to it. Ease you stress and stop looking at the "miles." Simply look at the battery display as a fuel gauge (it is). You have had this exact same experience for years, and you have never stressed about it. Your...

should I not get the South Korean CCS1 combo adapter?

Wife will hit that button as soon as it appears…🤣 she is good at that. In the meantime I have a Setec in the trunk as an option.

    Model Y Dent on door

The paint damage won’t be perfect with a mobile dent repair, but the “paint less” dent repair guys can almost work miracles - and after a good buffing, at that location you will probably never notice. I’ve had a guy do some stuff I didn’t think would ever be possible without paint and bodywork...

Paint correction and ceramic coating on Metallic Silver. Worth it?

Don’t have before and after pictures for you, and had it done, but glad I did it. However it depends on how you wash your car. If you run it through a car wash with their chemicals and (especially) the non-touch free…don’t bother. But if you are asking, probably you don’t. As said before...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Options are important. Especially if you are traveling. Most places are good, but there are some that are way away from a SC.

Tail Light Retrofit- AMBER turn signal

This is a significant difference and (although I like amber turns…) is the reason to do this, especially if you have to drive in heavy traffic. Damn…another non-spouse approved project. 🤣

Or at least the option to note that is what the destination is and start the preconditioning for fast charging.

    CHADMEO

    Not that I know of….

    CHADMEO

No real answer but I tried a Setec CCS adapter a couple of days ago…and it worked fine. As I understand it…that adapter presents itself to the vehicle as a CHAdeMO adapter…so if that is correct, it seems to still be working as of then (2022.24.8).

    Battery upgrade

The 60 -70 has happened some, because it was (is) a software limitation on the 60. This is the best documented case of the actual upgrade to the 85. There have been some discussion of others. Similarly they *have* done model 3 SR updates to SR+ (a similar software limitation), but it takes...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

There was considerable discussion on of and how much retrofit would qualify compared to new construction. There has been negotiation on the subject.

Does Tesla always provide a loaner when car is in for warranty work?

I have given this same advice on other brands (Audi and Land Rover, most notably) in talking to friends who were interested in a particular vehicle, but the nearest dealership was around 100 miles away from them. The same friends I would tell to avoid a Tesla completely, for exactly the same...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Exactly. The closest SC to one parent is a bit over 80 miles away…and that isn’t in my direction - the opposite, and one about 110 miles away on the route I usually drive. There is one…yes ONE…CCS within about 35 miles, and fortunately in my travel direction.

    CHADMEO

It would be interesting to know what software the OP is using, and also interesting to see if we are still seeing success. Just wondering aloud: could it be related to them releasing the CCS adapter?

Vehicle fraudulently transferred out of account without permission

While this seems complicated, and yes, 2FA on the Tesla account would probably be a good idea, the simple answer is a very simple copy of an "Information for Officer" report with your local police department. It provides the documentation on the event that should satisfy Tesla, combined with...

OEM CCS adapter now available to order in North America, Retrofit for older cars coming in 2023

Last I read they are going to be slowly rolling out retrofits to existing SC locations, once they finish negotiations with the Feds on what qualifies for the funding. They will probably start at the least crowded ones first. I would be surprised if new construction didn’t start including...

Does Tesla always provide a loaner when car is in for warranty work?

While they can make any policy they wish, these are things that are worth pushing toward Elon. No he doesn't read every tweet he is tagged in, but he is amazingly engaged for his level in multiple endeavors - and tweets are not the only method to bring items to attention. With him pushing for...

2018 MR vs 2022 RWD Model 3 - great progress

SR+ had "partial premium" interior. It did not have the heated rear seats (but you could activate it later), did not have the footwell lighting activated, and did not have the premium sound (so missing subwoofer/rear amp, and some speakers were not wired / or present, depending on the year).

2018 MR vs 2022 RWD Model 3 - great progress

We will add this to your list. They changed attachments for front and mid aero shields, which when driving through water could end up with the rear bumper coming off effective May 21, 2019. Probably a rarity, but since we have a firm date, good to know. According to this article: "Model 3...

Is FSD Beta responsible for total destruction of this 2020 Model S?

Answer on why was actually quite understandable in my post. Try reading.... Nah...love is a bit strong; the phrase you were trying for find you was: childish, self-centered, incapable of actual original thought, and pathetically attention seeking. However, you already know you embody all...

Sudden slow charging off NEMA 6-50 solved.

Nice, thanks for both the information and the pictures. Definitely a better built piece. I have a Leviton that I used in the original install, but I have been keeping an eye on it. Either when it shows an issue, or when I slow down and have time I will probably swap it out. I am planning on...

2018 MR vs 2022 RWD Model 3 - great progress

I think we tried the same game, and yes, I stunk at it. The wife was somewhat better, but she also was at Mario Kart. We have used the streaming a few times away from the house and it is nice if you have to wait for something.

Is FSD Beta responsible for total destruction of this 2020 Model S?

Yes....you would agree, but really the base point is not only did the driver NOT retain control as they should have, but the driver had ample time to correct. Why would the NTSB be interested in a driver that can't be bothered to actually pay attention to what his vehicle is doing, even when...

2018 MR vs 2022 RWD Model 3 - great progress

Interesting. I wonder if it is simply decontenting, or a push to use/expectation of using wireless controllers, especially if the Steam integration takes off. So - any reference to a list of the differences in the games between 2022 and 2018? (Not that I even know what all is there, but now...

    Indoor charging

Been charging in the garage since 2011 on one vehicle or another and now two - and a slew of lawnmowers and yard tools as well. No issues. Don’t condemn dad, he is just using an older philosophy, but probably doesn’t mind a gas can for the lawnmower in the garage. Nope, it isn’t a stupid...

window up and down while driving

It is most likely either calibration or a bad sensor. As long as you can reproduce the issue (intermittent problems are just hard to demonstrate) and it is not working as it should, it should definitely be covered under warranty.

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

HW3.0 upgrade for basic AP owners now free?

Unrelated to the cost of the upgrade topic, but I'm glad to see you post this. I was driving ours this weekend, in dark/daylight and rain/dry conditions and noticed both wipers and auto high beams (which I usually keep turned off, but reset to on somehow) were much better with 2022.24.8. I have...

Traded my M3P for an RS3 - My thoughts on both cars for what it's worth

Amazing and fun vehicle - Congratulations. Also a great color!! You can jump back to the M3P pretty much any time you want with a minimal wait - that was a rare opportunity. Getting that to drive, enjoying the sounds and fun on a well thought out ICE vehicle of that caliber is a pleasure...

Looks like they are removing stalks from the 3/Y

Pretty sure the did away with Homelink mid year 2019 - but I haven't seen a hard date yet. I did see a reference that they changed/updated/"improved" something on the attachment of the rear bumper (and the coming undone driving through water issue) on May 21, 2019...so I guess the 2020 still...

2018 MR vs 2022 RWD Model 3 - great progress

Personal opinion, so YMYM...but....spend the money for the homelink now, be done with it before you settle in to the habit with the remote. 1) In a year you won't even remember you spent it, 2) you get to enjoy it over more uses and more time with the vehicle so your 'per use' cost goes down...
