0-60 MPH test of LR RWD on 2019.36.2.1

Yes, you can hear the difference in whine under hard acceleration. TBH, I don't hear much of anything under light acceleration. It's interesting that others online are reporting zero performance increase for the LR RWD this go around. Are my impressions placebo? I honestly don't think so...

0-60 MPH test of LR RWD on 2019.36.2.1

LR RWD here. There is definitely a difference in both the electric whine and linearity of the power delivery under full acceleration. Not surprising since the power electronics team has no doubt tweaked the modulation of the inverter to improve power delivery. Having lived with the car for over...

    Software 2019.32.2.2 thread

I am getting quite a bit of wheel chirp/squeal under hard acceleration. In the past the car has been great about limiting torque right at the max grip of the tires. It could be other factors like tire wear or weather - though weather is status quo.

    Now that autopilot is included......

Highly doubtful IMO. I'd wager we'll see free 30day trials of basic AP from time to time offered at discount pricing. Probably not deviating below 2k too much. They'll keep dangling for us holdouts until we eventually bite :)

    LR RWD Waiting Room

Yep, dealing we with Tesla is a *sugar* show. Went through the whole routine last fall getting my LR rwd. If it's any consolation, I'm five months in and I can confidently say it's the best product I've purchased. Any product. The price of admission as you well know is frustrating customer...

    5% increase in power

Indeeed agreeed. I'd rather have better off the line performance on my LR rwd. The 0-60 stat dropped from 5.1 to 5.0.

    5% increase in power

Per today's announcement: "We’re also excited to announce that we’re implementing a number of firmware upgrades for both new and existing customers. These upgrades will increase the range of the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive Model 3 to 325 miles, increase the top speed of Model 3 Performance to...

    Tesla and quality control.

My car has been fine so far. I bought a demo which I thought was a good thing (service made sure it was perfect for prospective buyers). And I test drove it first! I think the biggest risk is company management or the lack thereof. It's hard to proclaim Tesla are in this fight together while at...

Three months of ownership: exhaustive list of issues

Absolutely. Been there done that with my previous car - subaru. I'm not a fanboy of any brand. Despite my luck(?), I have plenty of concerns about tesla in general and with Musk specifically. My post was an off the cuff statement of how pleased I am with the product this far. Nothing more.

Three months of ownership: exhaustive list of issues

My exhaustive list of serious issues over 3 mos of ownership: someone dinged my door the car could use a wash I need to get off my can and rotate the tires It's an amazing car and I look forward to driving it every morning. I feel like i'm part of a secret club of awesomeness. That is all.

Does anyone else have zero interest in EAP?

I disagree. The TM3 is the best *product* i've ever purchased. No hyperbole. And EAP wasn't even a factor. I'm a car guy and the driving dynamics are addictive and thrilling. The fact that it's running me ~ $0.04/mi and has a full "tank" every morning is the bees knees. I've wowed a lot of folks...

    PSA: Charge door sensor

Didnt see this thread, thanks! I think I'll run a tiny bead of sealant around the edges to prevent water infiltration and keep it better secured. Looks like folks have had them fall off again even with super glue. Grrrrr.

    PSA: Charge door sensor

I have a June 2018 build model 3. The other night I was plugging in the charger in the dark and accidentally tapped the charge port door with plug. Not hard mind you. A moderate tap. I heard something fall to the ground so out came my phone flashlight. I found a diamond-shaped piece of black...

Does anyone else have zero interest in EAP?

It's beyond me why anyone would PAY to avoid driving this fantastic-handling car :P Kidding aside, I too am coming up on the end of the 30 day trial. I wouldn't say I have zero interest, but now that I have quite a bit of seat time, my impressions of its value have shifted. Stop and go traffic...

    EAP Purchase Strategy

Pretty much agree with all of this. Tesla have clearly demonstrated a willingness to play with pricing. I'd wager that if a customer doesn't purchase EAP with the vehicle, the probability of them paying later is much, much lower. Tacking $5k on a $60k financed purchase is a lot easier to swallow...

    Your experience with EAP?

These are my observations as well. I'm not sure if the cameras are not capable of looking that far ahead or if it's just the software. Compared to our Mazda, the TACC aspect behaves very similar, which is to say, it brakes way too late sometimes. I can sometimes see a backup from 1/4 mile or...

Does anyone else have zero interest in EAP?

I've been on EAP trial about 4 days now. My 1hr/day total commute is mostly highway and often congested. EAP has been really nice in bumper-bumper traffic and I trust it well enough to relax, watch the road, and let it do its thing. At highway speed it's a little disconcerting. Lane changes on...

    Discount for demo vehicle?

I bought a rwd demo in Oct during the Q3 push. They had a few demos in the system, all of which were discounted $0.78/mi on the odometer. I drove the car first so I knew there were no paint issues, wind noise, etc. FWIW, they sent my car to delivery for detailing. It was delivered in like new...

Auto Windshield Wipers Not So Automatic

Piling on here too. The auto wipers are not good. I've also noticed that if the auto wipers are going and I come to a stop, then put it in park, the wipers go crazy fast. It's like there is a variable for speed in a denominator somewhere, so divide by 0 = infinity speed!

Just checked. The alert said 14days but the autopilot page reports 30days remaining. weird.

EAP now $7000 after purchase and “price subject to change”

I think all of these pricing games Tesla plays are a fascinating experiment in consumer behavior. Thousands of dollar swings in paint, performance upgrades, AWD, etc. Folks who already purchase X come to gloat when the price of X goes up, and come here to piss and moan when X goes down. I...

    RWD Appreciation

Sounds like you're enjoying your AWD! IMO, the deciding factor between RWD and AWD should be performance at the top end, not handling in snow. At the end of the day, the TM3 is a sports car with 5" of ground clearance. If you live in a locale with significant snow accumulation multiple times each...

    RWD Appreciation

Let me help you out. It depends what you need and what you value. The good news is you can't go wrong with either option. AWD It's going to pull harder at higher speeds It will likely get you going faster in snow or wet (it doesn't help with stopping however) It will have different handling...

    RWD Appreciation

I have not seen any dyno results pre- & post- firmware update or any other hard proof that this is true. For me personally, I don't get hung up 0-60 numbers as i'm not a stoplight racer. The RWD really shines accelerating from 10~30mph to 60~70mph. It somehow wrinkles space-time onto itself so I...

v9 (40.1) Definitely improved the app wake-up bug

You are correct sir. My connection situation did not change, but I did sign up for a 2 week trial of TeslaFi. Turns out I didn't enable any of the sleep functions so it's been keeping my car awake 24/7! I will say the vampire drain hasn't been terrible despite this, but I'm new to this car so I...

v9 (40.1) Definitely improved the app wake-up bug

Granted i'm a new owner of only 2 weeks, but from day 1 it took forever for the car to wakeup and connect to the app. In many cases it simply wouldn't connect at all. Nothing has changed with my LTE or WiFi connections or proximity to WiFi since I updated to 40.1. Now the app wakes up the car...

Took my P3D+ autocrossing. Here's what happened:

Glad you had fun! I autocrossed extensively many moons ago. Don't take this the wrong way, but there's no replacement for seat time and experience. Your car in more capable hands would've been close to top of the pack as-is. HP, brakes, track-mode, etc are nice. But a skilled driver and good set...

I went from 36.2 so cant compare. According to teslafi they are rolling out both updates straight from 36.2. I'll try to take a pic of the notes this morning.

    Problems with software 9.0

Updated to 40.1 last night. Haven't tested it out much, but I will say that my car hasn't been able to wake up with the app reliably and when it did it was slow. Now it wakes immediately.

LR RWD owners - would you have ordered MR?

I would have had to think long and hard about it. That's for sure. I use my LR RWD for commuting with the occasional 3-5hr drive here and there. MR would have worked for my needs so I probably would have bit. But, I ended up buying a LR demo with ~3k miles so with the discount I pretty much got...

I took delivery of a MSM RWD TM3 last week. It was actually a demo unit that I had a chance to drive before they sent it up to the delivery center for prep. I refused to test drive the P3D they had that day because ignorance is bliss I guess. Reading these forums over the last several months...

Starting to regret FSD pre-purchase in a major way

I won't even plunk down for EAP yet. Still beta IMO. Show me the polished product and i'll decide if it's worth it given the remaining useful life on the car at that time. Prepaying for unfinished (or non-existent) features on a rapidly depreciating asset like a car is crazy IMO. Also consider...
