LR RWD Waiting Room

Wait. So they offered an AWD for the same price as a LR RWD??? Just because it was 2018? If so, I’ll call my specialist tomorrow and see if I can get that deal.

It could be a good deal, but it could also have a lot of upgrades that you don’t want, like red paint ($2,500), a white interior ($1,000) and wheel upgrades ($1,500). If the car you were planning on buying was basic black with no upgrades, the discount could just cover the upgrades you don’t care about rather than making it the same price as a LR RWD.

Order Date 3/8
White, FSD, 18” Aero wheels, black interior

Called Tesla on the 7th and they were absolutely confident in a 2-4 week delivery.

Fingers crossed haha

I *think* I’ve checked all the boxes to be in a “wait for VIN status”... financing, proof of insurance, DL uploads, down payment; all submitted on the 8th

But no communication from Tesla to confirm. I only get to talk with a voicemail anytime I call...

We changed our order and took delivery yesterday of an AWD LR. We love it! There were two minor issues...rock chips on lower bumper. They noted it and set us up with a company that repairs them. Total time at Tesla store from walking through door to drive off was 90 min. Easiest car purchase ever. We had one on one non-rushed attention from our delivery guy. When we arrived, the car was super clean and inside the showroom. Very nice experience!

Good luck to those waiting on their LR RWD and I wish you all a speedy delivery!

As I have yet to hear from anyone (I'm in AZ, ordered 3/1, LR RWD blue/black/AP), I called Tempe delivery center yesterday. The one guy I talked to said "Oh, they haven't started production on your car yet. They haven't been producing that config [LR RWD]. But, they should start in a few days". Whatever, I think he was blowing smoke. I seriously doubt their own employees even know what's being produced and where it's going to be delivered.

Hope to hear something before end of month. We'll see. Refreshing my account / checking these forums is getting wearisome. I'm checking out until I get a delivery notification.

I have the exact same configuration ordered on 2/28 . No vin yet after I declined the 2018 build with some miles on it . Delivery rep hasn’t been able to get a time estimate.

FSD LR RWD, base package otherwise. Day 16 of 14, no VIN, no contact, no explanation. It's pathetic, and not hard to tell the truth. Basic customer service, most of us would have no problem waiting if we had any idea how long it would be.

A random rep did try to cold call me to sell me a discounted 2018 model in the wrong color and wheels with 2000 miles on it, but would not tell me the cause of the delays. Which, quite frankly, was even more insulting. If any other dealership ignored me for weeks and then tried to sell me something I didn't want they'd never get my service. Hope Tesla enjoys the EV monopoly while it lasts, because they won't survive treating customers this way when there's mainstream competition.

Over-promising, under-delivering, and not communicating.

I feel the same way. Just tell me how long it’s going to take. If it’s a month just say it. This within 2 weeks and then no one knows is bs. They can take some tips from Apple on how to treat customers even with a hot product.

I agree. I sold my car on Sunday (Mar 10) because within two weeks for me was this Thursday and I had a car available to me for a little while with the inlaws out of town. That time is winding down soon and I'm now looking at having to rent a car... It's bullshit. If they had been honest and said 3-4 weeks I would even have listed my car until this weekend.

On a side note their trade in offer was GARABGE. They offered $8k and I sold it for $14,500

Exactly the same experience. I sold my car because I was assured it would come in 2 weeks. They offered me 6k and I sold it for full bluebook at 10k. I’m renting now too. I’ll give them the full 2 weeks max. I’ll just go get an A5 sport back if they can’t deliver the car I want within the assured time by the reps.

Yep, dealing we with Tesla is a *sugar* show. Went through the whole routine last fall getting my LR rwd.

If it's any consolation, I'm five months in and I can confidently say it's the best product I've purchased. Any product. The price of admission as you well know is frustrating customer service. Hang tight. Meditate and self-medicate. It's worth the wait.

They did learn from apple. Bring your broken iMac and they say oh it is broken buy a new one Upgrade your os and they say oh your software doesn't work buy some new or updated ones. Heh
