I think that's what he meant. Since the launch event was in hawthorne, while the delivery event was in Fremont. He said he was in Hawthorne.

I think he meant reveal event vs first production.. he seemed to say he didn't go to the reveal but did go to the event where you could take a ride.

No, the Reveal Event in March 2016 had rides in the prototype cars, while the July 2017 Delivery Event did not. The latter showed the production cars and let the lucky new owners drive them away. [[ edit -- post below says July event DID have rides. Sorry. ]]

The July, 2017 event definitely did have rides in Model 3s, they probably weren't prototypes. They may have been RCs and not production cars.
I wasn't at the delivery event, but believe it was in Fremont. I was at the launch event, that was definitely at Fremont. @DaveT and I traveled from San Diego together for it. It was down the road from the main factory.

Didn't they have a session for media earlier in the day of the first 30 deliveries? He could have been referring to this, but then not bothered to deal with the show that evening.

I was slightly miffed at the vapidness of DeMuro's Model 3 review. And then Alex Roy comes along. Again.
I want HIS Model 3 review. This was absolute poetry.
He's definitely pissed that DeMuro "broke" the embargo.
Way more impressed with how much Roy has been thinking about the Model 3. And sitting on his review.

This is a really fantastic example of one of the thousands of potential projects like this - just in this country. The world is full of places that have a comparable need and this is a superior solution.
