Only a handful seem to have had this, I am still on course for 15th apparently
Called today to check my deposit has been received after sending it 2 days ago and they still can’t clarify but hopefully soon. I asked if here was any chance to get the car earlier than the 18th and was told if it arrives in time and is prepared and ready a bit early they may call. I told them my birthday is on the 12th to hopefully get some sway

Hi

Ordered my SR+ On 17th July 2020. Custom order.
Called Tesla today around 1300 an I was told I have been matched to a vehicle this morning.
Hopefully to take delivery sometime in September.
Is it possible that my car is on Captain Glover departing tomorrow? If so should I expect to get the car before September?
Many thanks in advance for your help.

Hi and welcome, if it’s on the Glovis Captain then unlikely before Sep - likely first or second week of Sep.

3 and a bit weeks from San Fran to Zeebrugge then another few days to Southampton - then transport and faffing about time from Tesla in the UK.

Happy ship tracking !

At what point do we usually receive a VIN number on the Tesla website? When it arrives at the destination port?
Thanks

Sorry...been on the road today.

GLOVIS SUN Her midday position is shown on the chart below. She has slowed slightly to 16.8 kts but is still looking good to arrive on time on 5 Aug at Zeebrugge. Tomorrow's midday position will determine the winner of the GLOVIS SUN competition.
GLOVIS SUN Atlantic Progress.png

GRAND DAHLIA has continued to make excellent progress travelling 431nm since midday yesterday. She is off the S Mexican coast near the border of Guatamala. I envisage she will conduct her Panama Canal transit on Sunday. She will use the old Panama Canal locks unllike GLOVIS SUN. There is still time to enter the GRAND DAHLIA Competition. ETA Zeebrugge 15 Aug.

GLOVIS CAPTAIN will complete loading later today. She is due to depart in the small hours but there is still a chance that she may depart a couple of hours earlier. The San Francisco Chronicle has confirmed that she is heading to Zeebrugge. My guess for her ETA there is 21 Aug.

GLOVIS SPLENDOR is on her way to Benicia to unload the last of her cargo. She will arrive there tomorrow evening and once unloaded will take up an anchorage in the Bay, probably until Monday morning, before moving on to Pier 80.

There are still a number of options for the next ship after GLOVIS SPLENDOR, and by the weekend I am sure we will have identified it.

Hi. Just found this thread!

My lord I'm blown away! - This is some serious work and serious knowledge.

I have a Model X LR custom build (not sure if that makes any difference) on order, I received a call today to say I had been matched to a car and that it had just been loaded onto the ship to somewhere..

I wondered as I am obviously to stupid to understand the amazing spread sheet when you guys would think this car may make it to the UK and then to an actual delivery day?

I am hoping it will not be available for collection until after 22nd September 2020? , hoping to see the battery day news before taking the car,

Looking at all the information you have at hand (which is amazing) can anyone throw a rough date at it?

Thanks for this thread!

Oh and I was given a verbal on my VIN number - but not showing in my Tesla account.

That spreadsheet is for Model 3's and they have a completely different journey from Fremont to the UK.

The X/S leave from Houston Texas and go to Rotterdam before then coming across to the UK. Maersk are the usual carrier and if you've been told the car has been loaded my guess it's on the Nijmegen which departs on Monday.

Based on my previous experience I'd suggest they would be scheduling delivery for early Sept.

Sadly no to the before September thing. The only ship that will deliver before September now is the Glovis Sun, and if you were on that you would have been matched already. My Car is on the Grand Dahlia and I have a September 1st delivery date so hopefully you're on that one, which is on it's way, or the Captain which sounds like it's about to set off.

If you are waiting for MODEL S or Model X

Although Model S and Model X are made in the same factory as the Model 3 their delivery journey to you is markedly different.

Both Model S and X are shipped partly assembled in containers (3 to a container).

They are moved by road from the factory to the Oakland Joint Intermodal Terminal where they are loaded on to a train.

The train then takes about 9 days to travel to Houston. (actually BNSF Pearland). They are then moved by road to the dock at Barbers Cut where they are then loaded on to a scheduled container ship that eventually arrives 15 days later in Rotterdam. There the containers are moved by road (or barge) to Tilburg in Holland. Your car is removed from the container and then joins a mini production line where it is reassembled. It is then moved to Zeebrugge and shipped to Southampton.

As can be seen, all this takes time.

Finding your car in this complex logistics chain is difficult but there is a man who can. @Vedaprime is the specialist in this area. You can find him here but he normally resides on Twitter.

August ships for possible Model S and Model X shipments are:

MAERSK MONTANA arrives Rotterdam 3 Aug
MAERSK IOWA arrives Rotterdam 10 Aug
MAERSKA IDAHO arrives Rotterdam 17 Aug
MAERSK NIJMEGAN arrives Rotterdam 22 Aug
MAERSK OHIO arrives Rotterdam 24 Aug
SAFMARINE MAFADI arrives Rotterdam 31 Aug
