Unfortunately the people in the know have to sign NDAs.
You can observe Pier 80 if you have a BIG lens from Potrero Hill or Bernal Heights.
According to a source, who has not signed an NDA, you would have needed lots of patience for the GRAND DAHLIA loading....
Let me know when you get there!

Strange how images of the Grand Dahlia show so few cars parked up (Mr M alluded to this earlier). This was from the 20th-21st https://twitter.com/mortenlund89/status/1285615721662251008

Very similar indeed, did you receive an SMS about pick up? I found it dubious to have received it after requesting the change - not sure if linked or coincidence.

I've purchased several cars new, but never like this lol

I wonder which boats are arriving mid-Aug and Sept- I've been keeping up with the Glovis as that's the one I was told my SR+ was on, but after the change, I am trying to gather as much info on the vessels hoping my LR will be on either on this or the next one.

Booked a road trip to enjoy the car in the first week of Sept which I think I need to cancel, but my SO is still pushing on going :-(.

Anyone with shipping info for the vessels arriving into the UK this Q?
The GLOVIS CAPTAIN has just updated its AIS destination to Pier 80 with ETA of 11:00 UTC on Mon 27 Jul.
Since she is only down the coast at San Diego that is going to be a slow speed journey for her.

Good to see the Glovis Captain coming back around! My M3P arrived aboard her in March, I’ve been away from the forum since.... nothing has changed I’ve missed tracking ships, watching weather, Tesla is still driving everyone mad, it’s good to be back!

if that's on Marine Traffic, I don't think it has live satellite, it will just be a google/other catalogue satellite image - sometimes you see the green ship overlay in images of docks with maybe an oil tanker there in the photo - I don't think that's representative of anything valid for DAHLIA loading.

Hi guys,

I have a model x on order and I was wondering if you could help. The guys did a manual match and i got assigned a vehicle from the new inventory on the website. They also told me the car is in transit. I was wondering if you guys might know what the name of the vessel is. If you also have an idea on the delivery date that would be great. Thanks.

If you are waiting for MODEL S or Model X

Although Model S and Model X are made in the same factory as the Model 3 their delivery journey to you is markedly different.

Both Model S and X are shipped partly assembled in containers (3 to a container).

They are moved by road from the factory to the Oakland Joint Intermodal Terminal where they are loaded on to a train.

The train then takes about 9 days to travel to Houston. (actually BNSF Pearland). They are then moved by road to the dock at Barbers Cut where they are then loaded on to a scheduled container ship that eventually arrives 15 days later in Rotterdam. There the containers are moved by road (or barge) to Tilburg in Holland. Your car is removed from the container and then joins a mini production line where it is reassembled. It is then moved to Zeebrugge and shipped to Southampton.

As can be seen, all this takes time.

Finding your car in this complex logistics chain is difficult but there is a man who can. @Vedaprime is the specialist in this area. You can find him here but he normally resides on Twitter.

The GLOVIS SUN has arrived in the Panama Bay and is making her way to a temporary anchorage to wait for her transit.
You should be able to follow the transit in toto on marinetraffic.com
I expect her to pick up her canal pilot in the small hours and then make her way into Cocoli Locks. It will still be dark there.
You may catch sight of her in the background of this camera at Pedro Miguel when she is clear of Cocoli locks
It should take her about 7 hours to do the transit and by late lunchtime in the UK she should be in the Agua Clara locks in daylight.
That is if everything goes as I expect....

Tropical Storm Gonzalo is still a tropical storm at the moment but is still expected to become a hurricane. This little fella (Gonzalo is tiny compared to the regular monsters) is giving the forecasters a real headache. As long as GLOVIS SUN's canal transit is not delayed I don't envisage Gonzalo being a problem.

A reminder that the GLOVIS SUN competition will close when she enters the Cocoli Locks.

Meanwhile up at Pier 80 loading is continuing for GRAND DAHLIA. A correspondent of mine has reported seeing a large number of RHD vehicles leaving the factory to Pier 80 this morning. She will depart in the early hours of Saturday morning. The first confirmation that she is coming to the EU will be when her destination is published in the San Francisco Chronicle tomorrow evening. I expect her to arrive in Zeebrugge around 15 Aug.

Yes. I am tracking ship candidates now - Maersk Montana and Maersk Idaho. No data yet. Once you have a hidden vin, it is possible to track your car individually for an S/X to Europe while it is in the container. I have put instructions in how to find your hidden vin at vedaprime.net.au

@Vedaprime are you still able to track MX shipping to Europe from Houston? If so can I make a one off donation on Patreon and get you to track?

Thanks

Yes, I can track Model S/X individually to Europe. I can track once you have a hidden vin and the datasets are available - normally when the ships are mid Atlantic - with all of the exact shipping movements dates and times. Most people on Patreon stay for 1 or 2 months, since this takes a while and ongoing effort on my part to track from end to end. Patreon doesn’t work by one off donation but you can stop payment at any time.

A little help the visualize the route Mr Miserable explains. I personally received a VIN and DelDate for my M3. 10th August Amsterdam. Still likely it is on the Glovis Sun.
