Accident in wife’s Model 3

2019 RWD Long Range with under 40k miles. The at-fault driver ran a red light. Airbags did not deploy. Fortunately, no one sustained any injuries. I’m now awaiting the estimate from Tesla certified repair shop. Obviously, the devil is in the details, but I believe there is a good chance it’s ultimately determined to be a total loss. Pics attached.

Yeah, I’d guess it’s a goner. I had front end damage that only affected the sheet metal, and it cost $15k to repair. Yours appears to have damage all the way back to the suspension, which adds a whole bunch more parts ranging from radiators and electrical to control arms and possibly the battery.

I’d start shopping.

As far as the air bags, it looks like the car took a sideways hit with the other car coming from the right. Your wife probably wasn’t going very fast, so the frontal air bags wouldn’t have helped protect her so they didn’t fire. The impact would have knocked your wife towards the passenger seat, so the side air bag wouldn’t have helped either.

I hope she’s ok. Let your insurance fight for you, it’s far less stressful and they have an incentive to get you top dollar (keeps you happy and they don’t have to pay it).

always look left and right at every intersection. too many idiots on the road. could have been avoided.

As a motorcycle rider (Advanced & Urgent Blood Deliveries for car & motorcycles)... I've been trained to do it.

It's not just idiots, I think it comes from Police Training when you're decending on stolen vehicles travelling at speed. You may be creating a conjunction at the intersection.

Criminals don't care about the rules and all bets are off at this point.
