Update for me.. 3 days post delivery, a few pics here! Chuq Delivery Day Thread #ChuqDay - 2199 Days and we're finally here.

In more general Tassie news, my car was one of a batch of 12 vehicles, delivery days included 7th 8th and 12th April. Today another batch of 15 cars (without rego plates, so presumably fresh off the boat) have been spotted in Devonport. I'm guessing these are a backlog of vehicles from Morning Clara since no new ships have arrived in the country since.

Yeah ok. So genuine delay. Did you get an initial delivery estimate and then it blew out? Did they send you anything about it?
I am much the same. Early Dec order but missed the Q1 deliveries and got bumped to Q2.
Initial estimate was 8-12 weeks.
There are a lot of LR & P orders that this has happened to that ordered in Q4. Now with the shutdown and delays in Shanghai we don't yet know if we will even be Q2 deliveries.

Wow. Haven't seen this chat room so quiet before. This was my entertainment spot whilst I waited with the rest for delivery. Everyone must be just as depressed as me. Oh well. I suppose Misery Loves Company.

It's just because there's nothing happening with the Shanghai lockdown so no builds going on.
Will pick up again once we know production has started back up and what the impact to delivery timeframes is.

Hopefully some news soon so we can all be excited again and let the anticipation build once again.
Absolutely. There's only so many M3 videos that can be watched on Youtube before you've seen it all before.

Whilst I'm at it - a big shout out to @BreatheSafe for driving his M3 around to my house last weekend and parking in my garage so I could size up and make sure that she would fit in next to the wife's car. Clearly there's a great Telsa Community here.

Some news sites are speculating about the gigafactory reopening on a closed loop. Meaning employees would live in the factory, to get around the lockdown rules. I think this is pure speculation by media, and I don't think it's something I'd wish on the employees either. Besides, they are also reliant on other factories for components so not sure how long this could work

In late 2019 I spent a few weeks in China for business related stuff - due to some accomodation problems, I ended up staying on site at a high-tech Chinese research facility (long story). They had apartments for visitors, cafeterias, even a fully equipped CrossFit gym. The apartment was by no means flash and was pretty much a room with a desk, bed, and a bathroom. The food was also... not great. I lived and worked at the research centre for about 12 days.

But I'd take that any day over being locked into a undoubtedly tiny apartment for weeks on end without any ability to get food, talk to people, stretch your legs, or work for an income.

I just got an email from solar vic stating that the my 6 month delivery deadline for the EV subsidy has been extended by 120 days through to 24 December 2022, which is effectively 10 months from the date of my application. Very happy hoping it tees up with actual delivery of my rwd

All the components they need for the current production run would already be onsite in the large trailer holding parking. They move the trailers to the bays on the production side of the factory as they are required. Watch some Wu Wa videos on YouTube to see how they stockpile their parts for each production run.

There is a video there somewhere which tours the factory and the cafeteria complex. It caters for every cuisine choice for all the regions of China in one place.

Absolutely agree. Probably better for their mental health too.

I know for me when lockdown ended here getting back to work and at least socialising with colleagues was well worth it rather than being locked down with the family…

My friends keep asking me when I'm getting mine. My response is a mixture of pessimism and hope. I say "Originally 14-20 weeks, which is 20 May to 1 July, but..."

And then reply with the following.

The bad:
Shanghai is locked down, so that's about 20,000 cars not being built each week (I think that's what I read, but I haven't double checked).
There are people who ordered Performance versions in November with a 8-12 week wait, who are still waiting 20 + weeks later

The hopeful:
When Fremont closed in 2020 for COVID, upon opening, they pushed out a lot of international orders to get the boats moving again, which probably shortened a few delivery times overall. That could happen to mine if the Shanghai factory decides to do a run of Performance versions that just clears all the outstanding orders.
At some point, hopefully in the next month, the Shanghai factory will realise there were probably double the number of Performance orders than they budgeted for, and fix the budgeting, which gets me my car earlier.

But at the end of those points, I overexaggerate shrugging my shoulders and say "but I honestly have no idea whatsoever when I'll get my car"
