Awd vs pawd

Is it just me or does the PAWD driver appear to have a .25 sec faster reaction time than the AWD driver in this video? He looks to be nearly a car length ahead of the AWD before the AWD even starts rolling. Watching the RWD vs PAWD and the AWD vs PAWD videos, the gap between the cars seems nearly the same so I wonder if the AWD could have done a little better.

The Pawd definitely had the jump on the awd...

I suspect the lag is human reaction time difference.

That drag race video was useless. The AWD’s reaction time was so bad, it appeared exactly like the RWD did in terms of distance and speed.

Maybe a fancy video editor can sync them to simulate the same reaction time so we can see apples to apples
I don't think it's the car's reaction time, rather the drivers. Instant torque is instant torque.

It's useful because we get the 1/4 mile time. 12.7 for AWD is pretty good. For comparison that will beat most Porsches that are over 4 years old. Not too shabby for a 4 door sedan.

A few things:

1) Drag raceways stagger the starts. The green light goes off at different times for each lane so that the measuring tools can track the correct car. So, they should not launch at the same time.

2) Reaction time has nothing to do with the time it takes the car to cross the finish line because the measurement doesn't start until the car crosses the start line.

3) The cars are not racing each other, they are racing for time. Yes, quickest time wins, but it doesn't matter who crosses the finish line first.

Yes, I'm actually fairly impressed by the quarter mile time. That's a full second faster than the RWD (and about halfway between RWD and Performance).

But personally I didn't really choose the AWD for the acceleration so much as better traction in rain and snow, (hopefully) stronger regen for one-pedal driving, and general "surefootedness". When I test-drove the AWD (P version), the Tesla sales person recommended to accelerate hard into a 90-degree turn. It was marvelous how well the car handled that. My current car (a RWD-only BMW 340i) has similar power output, but it would never be able to put that power on the street as well in such a situation.

My girl is already jealous of my ordered Tesla and I haven’t so much as named her yet. Good luck with all that pillow talk. At least you have your priorities straight.

I’m torn between Felicity and Trillian for my Red 3D
Already got my vanity plate. IOIOIO

Love the 42 plate

Un, folks, someone locked me out of the AWD / Performance tracking sheet, so unfortunately the summaries won't add new entries (I have to copy names over from the data entry list), or possibly even updates (if you can even see the sheet). Can anyone add me back as Editor? Please?? DM me and I'll give you my email. @Revelate? Haven't seen you on the forum since the 5th. Help!

I’m locked out too.

Well, I bit on the email that offered the Premium White interior update, and so will have to wait a bit of extra time for delivery. I had to call Customer Support because the Edit link that the Tesla email promised would be on my account's management page, wasn't. A nice Vehicle Specialist told me that they were having trouble updating all of the account pages and sent me a letter that allowe3d me to specify the new white. I filled it out, set it back to her and she replied to let me know that she'd received my request and had sent it on to the factory. Hope the delay isn't too long, but I really prefer the white for temperature control and because it looks appropriately futuristic. My wife tells everyone that I'm buying a hybrid: half electric car, half spaceship:)

I thanked the VS for her cheerfulness, knowledge, and her willingness to admit when she didn't know and research the answer for me, which she did. She sounded grateful for the acknowledgement. I think they must have a rough job. Treat them well and our world will be a better place.

My father ordered an AWD with black interior, midnight silver, Aeros with FSD on 6/28 and preordered 3/31 online pre-reveal event. His edit button disappeared last Sunday or Monday. He wanted to do a trade in and uploaded the pictures and info on early Monday morning. He’s still waiting to hear back with the offer from Tesla. This seems longer than I’ve read it takes for most people. I was expecting him to be contacted within a couple days. Anyone else wait a week or more to get a trade-in quote?

You and he are in Japan?

I requested to switch my interior to white on 7/30 through email just like you did. Followed up with 7 long phone calls(30-45 mins each ). The account does not reflect the changes yet after 20 days. I am tempted to use backdoor to edit but afraid of causing more damage. I hope your luck is better than mine.
