Prediction: another Supercharger that opens the week after my trip through the area. They did exactly that with Albany.

In that case, can you plan a trip through Toronto 3rd week of August? ;)

I'm heading there 4th week of August and just got back from an eventful trip this past weekend. Blown fuse at the SCH charger at Markham Best Western Plus, Chargepoint at Toyota charger having no power, and SCH charger at Best Western Primrose downtown completely ICE'd in all 3 spots reachable by the charger.

Also found myself unplugged at the SCH charger at Syracuse Best Western overnight, with a note that my J adapter was at the front desk. Not a big deal as I was able to top up at Destiny USA while shopping, but I was surprised that the other driver was able to remove the adapter as well as the charger. I thought it would have locked the adapter in place.

Doug, we need you to take more trips and post about them. Then Superchargers will pop up everywhere!

If the car is locked, then the adapter should be locked to the car. I'm surprised it was removable as well.

Well that all sounds very annoying! I'd report the adapter removal to Tesla. That is NOT supposed to be possible.

I agree with the others; your J1772 adapter should be locked to the car when the vehicle is locked. Were you unplugged by another EV owner? I got the impression that a hotel employee did it (some hotels are incredibly stingy with electricity and have even demanded that people leave for charging on a 110V outlet). Though, I guess this isn't likely to be the case since the hotel had a charging station and you were a guest...

It's easy to avoid stupidity like hotel refusing 110V - call ahead and arrange it. If they don't play ball politely inform them this means you will be staying elsewhere. If everyone did that they will eventually get the message.

As for unplugging, etc., run VisibleTesla on your home computer and set it to email your phone when charging stops. Be sure to check it regularly while awake and before you hit the pillow.

The app should do this for sure...settings should let you receive an alert for a stop charge or when it reaches the % you select for an alert. Would be great if you are killing time and then you get the alert that the car has reached 80% (or whatever you set it at). The app can already see the charge status, so it should be fairly simple to integrate an alert or text or email.

6.0 will do this and more (we hope).

I believe I mentioned this in another thread, but at one point a while ago when you pressed the J1772 button, it would momentarily unlock and re-lock the port even with the car locked. I've heard of owners coming back to find their J1772 adapter placed on the lower edge of their windshields presumably by someone else who had unplugged them. This was quite a few firmware releases ago, so that may not be the case any longer.

Does anyone have news on the Kingston SC. According to supercharger progress wiki, permit application is supposed to be submitted 8/1
but http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/12773-Canadian-Superchargers/page75 states that permit is already in place
http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showwiki.php?title=Supercharger+Progress

Location is supposed to be Division St near 401. (Empire Movie Theatre?) Has anyone spotted construction activity?

Tesla has the "coming soon" webpage up already..

So, finally, we have liftoff of the Ontario Superchargers on Brookline in Cornwall.
They were deposited in the corner lot of the Ramada Inn last Tuesday and yesterday, the workers started digging. I stopped by for an hour to chat with them and they said they should be ready in 3 weeks. They will have six stalls. Kingston and Toronto are next they say.
They are in the Ramada Inn parking lot near the front.
A few questions though. Why put them in a tired looking Ramada Inn lot instead of across the street where there is a big mall with amenities. Could it be the Ramada was desperate for some sort of payment from Tesla so they can renovate the hotel? Perhaps they feel we will use their restaurant?
Another safety concern is that when you come down from the 401, you go slightly past the hotel and make a circle at the traffic circle, which is just before the bridge. Unfortunately, you have to immediately cross over a couple of lanes while inside the circle in order to get to the hotel entrance. Very dangerous.

Anyhow, I cannot wait for them to finish and get the Kingston one going too. That should be their next priority over Toronto.
Drummondvile has a permit and that should be starting soon. They need them in London, Barrie, Casselman, and St. Sauveur, Qc, for those heading to the Laurentians, north of Montreal.

Here are a few pics from the Cornwall site.

There's lots of construction going on, but not for the SC that I can see....the Kingston SC is going to be within the new outdoor mall expansion that started about 2 months ago. I checked last week and they are still doing sewer and plumbing and general excavation. It's going to be a while, this is a 20 unit expansion over a large area. No structures even started being built yet. Maybe October if I had to guess.

Asif,

lolachampcar makes and sells charge door fob's. Can't unlock your car, but maybe release the charge cable?
That may have been what happened. I'll buy one of those. It's $20
If you can unplug someone blocking a charger, it may be a lifesaver

hingisfan,

Thanks for the heads up! I live in NJ, and need to go to Trenton, ON on Oct 10. Almost impossible to make from Albany, NY, at least( 289miles). I was planning to charge 1-2 hours in Syracuse at Best Western, and then top up as needed in Kingston. Looks like there is a shortcut Utica-Watertown using Rt. 12, but not sure I am going to risk it. Need to find out about the elevation. Do you know that route?

What is the location of the Mall, that is being expanded?

Just found below instructions on this thread (thanks ITSELE):
http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/14190-Get-J1772-adapter-to-pop-charge-port-door/page6
To remove the adapter/J1772 from the car while charging or not, here's what you do... Simply press and hold the J1772 button which stops charging and unlocks everything (charging port changes from green to light blue). THEN with your other hand underneath everything, grab the adapter and J1772 and pull it out as ONE UNIT (while still pressing the J1772 button with the other hand). It's stupid, but it works. If you release the J1772 button, it locks back up and you have to time it just right to pull it out. I verified this with my Tesla Delivery Specialist so I thought everyone knew.

So, I reported the issue to Tesla and it appears the explanation is as follows. After the latest firmware update some cars reverted the lock on walk away setting to off in the background. I tested by walking away from the car and checked the smartphone app which showed the lock status as unlocked. I came back without the key and sure enough I could open the hatch. I locked the car via the smartphone app and could not open the hatch. I had to turn the lock on walk away setting off and on again and it is now locking the car properly. Lesson learned, check the setting after any firmware update. :)

Precisely what I did at the Americana Resort in Niagara Falls on the weekend. They were able to accommodate me by reserving a room on the main floor with access to the parking lot. I brought an extension cord in case, but the UMC was reachable without the extension.

I posted to supercharge.info

Uhm... why? :)

I mean it's great news! I'm just wondering how the news got to supercharge.info and not to this bunch of eager Canadian Tesla owners (me being one of them).

I posted to Supercharge.info because the moderators seem to block my postings here even though I'm allowed to sign in etc.
I also posted some photos but they took those down too!
What have i done to deserve this Doug and Nigel and Bonnie?
