Looks like I too may be joining this club. I could use some help assessing my situation and understanding options.
I have 89k miles on a December 2017 build, purchased new. I had HW3 installed about a month ago. I stream music about 75% of the time, but don't do much else besides drive the car (a lot).
My symptoms include:
-Dark screen 3-4 times at startup last few weeks.
-I have been unsuccessful in installing several software updates in last 3 weeks.
-Sometimes when I reboot the MCU, my GPS shows a past location, not current. Updates once I start driving.
-My energy usage graph has been on the fritz (see below), showing zero past energy usage and logging only some of the miles I drive.

I'm strongly considering the route many others are taking with
@EV-Fixme , but I want to make an informed decision. My three options as I see it:
1) Since I am at less than 4 years of ownership, am I still under warranty? If so, it looks like the previous posts describe a replacement that will have the same issues I have now. So I am just kicking the can down the road several years. Benefit would be I don't have to do the work to replace the eMMC now. Downside is that it could go dark without much warning, outside updated warranty, loosing critical information, and requiring Tesla to do the work at somewhere north of $1,500. Uncertainties include how far down the road I kicked the can, if my screen is replaced is it better or worse than the one I currently have, and where is the car when my screen dies.
2) I could splurge for the MCU2. Benefits include those listed on Tesla's website for the infotainment upgrade, they look nice but these don't improve the drive-ability/autopilot/safety features. Potential benefit is future feature access. Downside is $2,500 that doesn't grow on a tree.
3) Do as others have done and take the front of my car apart so I can upgrade the eMMC like other have done. Or get the car to someone that can take the dash apart for me. Benefit: price seems reasonable with less uncertainty than Option 1. Downside: I'm probably going to have to do the dash removal/replacement myself as I live up near Tahoe/Reno.
I've just read through 36 pages of this thread. Am I correct in assessing a likely eMMC issue? Did I correctly summarize the three options?
Thanks in advance.
