Discussion: Model Y General Waiting room for orders placed After January 2023

Yes, I am back to 1 week EDD window which now is 2/27-3/13!

Most likely you ordered a few hours before me and live closer to Fremont which may explain why I am about a week behind. As far as I can tell, majority of those who got the text msg are the folks who ordered mid-Jan and went from specific to generic EDD, although some who ordered mid Jan and switched to MYP shortly after 2/3 seemed to have received the same text msg as well. Who know how EDD algorithm works ...

Anyway, good wishes with the rest of your Tesla ordering journey, and to all of us. I don't want to get too philosophical here, but after being glued to Tesla app and topics for the past month or so, I am learning a lot about myself in today's society from this experience which in my view is an epitome of commercialism (Tesla) and materialism (consumers) at full display thru this online-only vehicle ordering process.
It's a little more than that I think - We as a society are going through a massive technological shift and it's exciting to be a part of that change. At least for me the technology and where things are headed is fascinating. Also this is a great place to commiserate with fellow waiters desperate for some sort of information..

I do think Tesla is gaming us (consumers) a bit using inventory, factory scheduling (EDDs) and dynamic pricing to generate greater demand/FOMO. It worked with us after the first $500 price increase after the drop.

I’m in SoCal. My friend ordered a MYLP on 2/3 and they heard a trick to expedite the delivery. What they did was they changed the configuration couple days after OD to add FSD. They received VIN 3 days later, and today they just received delivery date of 3/8. He then called it in to downgrade FSD to EAP and the delivery date stays the same. He strongly advised me to do the same for my MYP order. It sounds sketchy and so many moving parts involve and mine is MYP which may be different from his. What do you guys think? Have you heard about this trick?

Final UPDATE:

Located: Northern Virginia
MYLR White/Black, 20's
OD: 1/15 (Originally thought 1/14 but apparently it was after midnight est)
EDD: 2/6-3/6
VIN: 2/1 assigned, Fremont.
Updated EDD: 2/14-2/21
Date Choice: 2/7
Delivery Date: Feb 17th.

Car picked up! Was raining so just did a general once over on the paint looking for big issues (Things that can't be buffed out) and touched everything inside ect. Only one thing noticed. A bit of excess clearcoat seems to have globbed on the corner of the fender, and a little popped paint bubble next to it that I don't care about. I would have had them fix it but PPF dropoff is tomorrow.

Did another once over this morning and everything is solid, gaps are good, seals solid ect. Either i'll fix it today or i'll pay a little extra to my PPF installer to address it. Overall good experience.

For someone who have been on the EV fence since 2017 and finally took the plunge, I cannot agree with you more. My feelings are a bit mixed between excitement about the new technology and uncertainty from being jerked around by Tesla's game plan. Either way, this forum has been a lifesaver in terms of getting valuable info. I just need to spend less time on it now that VIN assignment seems to be around the corner, so that I can get other stuff done! ;)

I've heard of it, but I'd be too afraid they'd refuse to remove the FSD.

Last night, logged into my account before sleep and just checked if there is any vehicle available for quick delivery. Found MYLR Red/White/19”/Tow at Mt Kisko, NY

Edited my original blue selection to match these specs hoping to put an end to Tesla’s EDD changes and waiting drama. VIN updated in my app in 1 min at 11 pm. Got text and email at 7 AM this morning that VIN is assigned and another text and email at 9 AM to schedule delivery.

Pick-up scheduled for Feb 24th.
Congrats! Great find. This post made me go look again. There are a few available in Tucson/Phoenix, even a blue one with a tow hitch, but all are SR. We travel back and forth from AZ to ME and the LR is really a must for us and none to be seen here.

You must have had a little apprehension in changing your order? With my luck, I'd make the edits and get bumped out to June, which would really suck since we leave for Maine in mid-May. Cool that it updated so quickly though!

Haha, this person doesn’t know what an assumption is.

Based on all the information you have, you are assuming it will qualify but will not know until the battery guidance is released. Just like what was said by Tesla on the earnings call.
Even though the guidance has not released however the white paper already released.

Even IRS hasn't release battery guideline, the white paper already released.
If want to know A+B>10? however you only know A is 6, assume B is 5 then the statement is true, that's called assumption.
If you already know B is 6, then say thr statement is true. Is this called assumption?

Created a profile after checking this forum daily trying to see where I'm at in line.

OD: 1/22/23
Build: W/B/20"/FSD/No tow
EDD has changed many times, when I made the initial order it was 3/4-3/31
EDD2: 2/10-2/19
So far it has kept the same 9 day delivery window since then and moved up as each day passes to now at 2/18-2/27.
NO VIN

Texas

Picked up the car from Naperville yesterday. Great experience. We arrived 20 minutes early and the car wasn't ready yet. SA installed the temp plate and drove to the front. Unlocked the car and told us to take as much time as needed. We spent 10 minutes to walk around. Fremont build, like many other members here, the car is flawless. Gaps are symmetrical, no scratch or paint issue. Asked for the mud flaps and SA told us to make a service apt online and they will install flaps and PPF for free. Also told us to report any delivery issue in the next 24 hours. Order to pick up is about 5 weeks. This is faster than my expectation consider the history of Tesla.
The front license plate mount provided was an adhesive plastic. Not sure if I want to put it on. Any suggestion for after market mount?
