I am travelling from Mississauga to La Malbaie, QC on the weekend. I assume it is best to go from Cornwall to Drummondville and then direct to La Malbaie? Can I make it from Drum to La Mal? If I have to stop in Quebec City, does anyone have a recommendation? I am staying at the Fairmont in La Malbaie which has a listed charger, I assume reliable? Any advice would be appreciated!
If you go to Quebec often, I suggest buying a CHAdeMO adapter. Electric Circuit is covering the area very well.

1) Yes, definitely Cornwall to Drummondville, bypassing Montréal by using the bridge over the St. Lawrence on the A30. The car's NAV may try to send you on alternate and bad route. Since the bridge is about two years old, I don't think the car is aware of it.

2) Yes, easily this time of year in an 85. Otherwise, the CHAdeMO at CAA-QC or AddEnergie in Quebec City work well. Worth borrowing the adapter if you don't have one.

3) it is reliable, but hotel or casino visitors tend to plug in and leave their cars for a long time. If you're only staying one night it could be a problem if the station is taken when you arrive.

By the way, ignore the NAV system once again when you reach La Malbaie. Just follow the signs to the casino or hotel. Otherwise, you'll end on roads that are private, haven't existed for 15 years, or are one-way in the opposite direction.

I'm the guy that always asks about Cobourg, but today I wonder about Quebec City and Riviere-du-loop. I drove out that way in the summer (in my old school 60) and both would have been very welcome, I tell ya. I'll be doing the drive again in the spring, and boy would it be nice to have them by then. In the case of both locations, people in the respective cities seemed to be aware they were coming soon. In the case of Riviere, my sense was that they were just about to break ground. Anybody heard anything on either one of those (both red dots on the 2015 Tesla map)?

I would not expect Lévis or Rivière-du-Loup before next Summer. There is CHAdeMO in Lévis and La Pocatiére that can help, as well as in Mont Joli.

My speculation is that they were planning for construction this year, but then all of Canada was cut from the Supercharger budget until 2016. This could be a by-product of the Model X coming a bit late.

If this is true (bolded quote), it is true only for eastern Canada, because the Kelowna SC site is rumoured to be breaking ground within the next few weeks. Did I miss the reference for the budget cut or is this just speculation based on their dismal Supercharger build out here?

The only evidence that Tesla has reduced supercharger investment is what we see from the outside. There has been nothing to suggest this is a budget cut it any other restriction unless proof is provided.

I'd go further and question why anyone thinks there has been reduced Supercharger investment! There have been roughly 200 Supercharger sites opened in 2015.

There are other parts of the world, you know.

The reason why Tesla is not doing much in Canada is painfully obvious: they just don't think it's a priority.

On my trip to LaMalbaie, a couple of comments. Quebec City would have been real nice for a SC. I had to drive a little slower and drift behind trucks to make it from Drummondville direct. I did not need to stop at the Montreal SC but I did anyway on the way back. The traffic around it was horrible and both spaces were filled. If there was a SC in Belleville, there would be no need to wait around at Kingston for a full charge. It is a pain in the ...... to have to get a full charge at any SC even thought it is much better than any alternative. Due to the nature of the trip, on the way there I needed a full charge in Drummondville and on the way back a full charge in Kingston.

I was travelling from Mississauga to LaMalbaie.

Hey Doug, I have used Montreal 6x to date. Only waited twice and the Wait is not too bad. One time I asked one Tesla owner (who said he was local) if he would let me charge. He was very polite and moved his car so I could charge. I was coming back from Boston with my family. It charged at 350km per hour. The street that Tesla is on is under construction. If traffic is light, you can bolt through the barricaded street, (which they closed for local traffic one way) or go around and enter Tesla traveling east.

Just checked and the Hamilton/Burlington super-charger pin is still there on Tesla's 2015 website (along with Riviere-du-loop). I'm not holding my breath that they'll even find a location in Hamilton/Burlington by the end of 2015, considering there is less than 10 weeks left (if you take out xmas holidays). Maybe it's time to update the 2015/2016 maps?
