Has been fun to see so many people I follow lose their minds. Imo what we are witnessing is that lots of people are going into the princess archetype, in contrast to the queen archetype. The princess cares about what some other princess said, who is friends with who, they love drama, think reputation is the most important thing etc etc. It's an immature archetype. Eventually she matures into a queen, where she cares more about her people and her kingdom than the latest court gossip.

Many people focus so much more on words than deeds. They will literally boycott Tesla, the company that electrified the auto industry because they heard someone say that the founder said some bad words. Then they will buy a VW instead, a company started by Hitler, that gassed monkeys to test how poisonous their cars were,
that lied and cheated on the emission testing, their diesels killing and harming thousands every year.

Just because some other princess told them that Elon has said some bad words and if she associates with him she would risk getting a bad reputation. Because reputation and drama matters a lot more than deeds to these princesses.
do some googling on what Elon's company does with animal brains / implants and how many animals get chips implanted and suffer before being euthanized. I'm not against animal research and the monkey story was nasty ... but let's please not pretend Elon gives to eff's about animal welfare...

Have you driven a Polestar? No thanks. Hated the interior (cramped - not open and spacious).
have you driven a Cadillac Lyriq?
Same price as Model Y AWD ... and unless you are obsessed with 0-60 ... hard to see any points (other than charging networks - and that is changing) going in favor of the Model Y. Definitely not ride comfort, road noise, luxury and service support...

Might be very productive to post that in a reply to Elon on Twitter! I hadn’t noticed all that much of the above here; just a lot of tiresome political back and forth in lieu of discussion about Elon’s mental state.

In other news, I am confused about why Elon now thinks mDAU has any legitimacy whatsoever? I guess if I had seen a Tweet from him where he said actually mDAU made sense after all, and it’s not a measure of bot activity to any significant degree, as constructed, I would be less confused about this turn of events. I thought it was all a fraud and we needed to stay tuned. Is this what he meant?

I’m also curious about how mDAU behaved in the lead up to 2020 elections. A disproportionate amount of the mDAU growth seems to be coming from the US. 5% in US or so vs 3% or so elsewhere. But of course there is worldwide interest in US elections, too.

Congratulations Elon for that wonderful graph, now compare that to the TSLA stock graph!

I'm so glad the twitter overhang is finally over and we got the TSLA relief rally that got us back to the point before his share dumping started in late April.
* checks TSLA price*
Oh, nevermind...

It is great that he is sharply focused on the mission -- using Twitter as his political mouthpiece, that is

This is why Elon should sell another $20B of TSLA. He needs to stay focused on the mission.

It also means selling relatively close to the ATH. (Only factor of 2 off.)

initially Tesla had:

- vehicle specs (range/ performance/ charging speed)
- no competition (nothing out there competing with them)
- charging network

as selling points.

now this is down to:

- but the competition can't produce enough of them!!
- charging network

not very future proof unless Tesla improves service support/ build quality/ vehicle appearance for the price point ...

I think anybody eschewing Twitter for Mastodon is in for a rude awakening. Aside from being less user friendly, that’s where you’ll legit find the 4chan crowd which is….colorful in verbiage to say the least.
I'm not on Mastodon but isn't it server-based like Discord? You only see what is on the servers that you have joined. Social-silo media seems like a trend.

It's federated, which means that anyone can follow anyone on any server. Servers set their own moderation policies, so some of them are friendly places, and some of them are not. It's easy to avoid the 4chan crowd by blocking their servers, or not engaging with them.

Which is why I want Elon's excellent engineering and design mind focused on TSLA and not rage-tweeting against twitters advertisers

You can see posts and interact with other people from any server that is not blocked. Some right wing sites use the Free and open source code of Mastodon. Those sites are generally blocked from the 4,000 other Mastodon servers. I joined the Mathstodon.xyz server after my application was reviewed by a human and accepted. I was quite surprised by all of the interesting, friendly, and polite people I found there. Each server is like a home neighborhood but you are not confined to it.

You can search for "about Mastodon" to find articles explaining the basics. Currently it is free and there are no ads. Interest in Mastodon has soared recently so there is no shortage of articles about it. I think there are about 2 million Mastodon users. I hope growth does not ruin it.

Edit: I'm reminded of when (back in the 1990s) I set up an NNTP server at a college where I was teaching to create chatrooms for all the classes.

What exactly has Elon engineered?

I really want to know because I keep reading that he’s not an engineer but a salesman and advertisement specialist…..
Elon is an engineer and scientist and has shown himself to be an excellent manager and business person. Many articles have gone into his deep involvement in the nitty gritty details of engineering and production. The growth of Tesla has shown that he is a remarkable business manager who is able to recruit and motivate top people.
Shame that he seems to have strayed from his areas of expertise into "social media" quagmire.
(Perhaps it's his autism which makes him so good at engineering and management and simultaneously so bad at "social".)

He's been key in all kinds of work including: Phase Reluctance Electric motors in Teslas, Octovalve and superpump integrated heating/cooling design, Raptor Space-X methane dual-regenerative rocket engines, use of stainless-alloy metal skins instead of carbon-composite for Starship re-entry heat sheild... and yes before you rant, there were of course other smart people involved on the projects.
