I regret my ignorance, but please tell me what you meant my "the standby list?"

I am pretty sure he means the people with a Sig reservation number greater than 1,000. There were people who dropped/downgraded and then wait list people were bumped up to Signature. There should only be 1,000 total in the USA, but some of the numbers are greater than 1,000.

Tesla has an official "waiting list" for general production reservation holders to put their name on and fill in the cancellations of any Signature reservation holders. AnOutsider is referring to that list as "the standby list" AnOutsider's terminology, my guess, taken from the airline industry.

Yes, sorry, Tesla calls it the "wait list" on their site.

Yes, as per the tally, the latest known S is 1,207 so, it might still take another week or two to get through all US Sigs.

Tesla may still knock them off by next week to have a clean slate (of completely configured and locked-down Sigs with a non-refundable $10K to boot) by June 22. They may also be looking at factoring the $10K per Sig into their earnings for Q2.

Once any deposit becomes non-refundable it can be recognized as revenue, so there's potentially an ulterior motive to process as many as possible before June 30th. OTOH Tesla may not care whether some of these are in Q2 or Q3, the marginal number they squeeze in is not going to make that big a difference, it might be 1 million on the revenue line out of a total 30-something.

Congrats to all. I take the ramp up of configurations to mean that production plans are on schedule....which means my car is getting closer.

Sorry, I'm sure this has been said already, but at what point do you make your final payment? Is that at delivery?

From the MVPA:

Agreement to Purchase. You, the Buyer and Co-Buyer, if any, agree to purchase the Vehicle described in this Motor Vehicle
Purchase Agreement (“Agreement”) from Tesla Motors, Inc. (“we,” “us” or “our”) for cash, on the terms set forth in this
Agreement. The Amount Due from Buyer shown above must be paid at the time the Vehicle is delivered. If you pay us with a
payment item that is not honored for any reason, you will be charged a service charge of $25.

Think the Tesla Product Specialist that delivers our Model S will have a "Driver Carries No Cash" decal affixed to his/her vehicle?

They have been counting reservation cash as revenue:

Teslas Ambitions Fueled by Customer Down Payments - NYTimes.com

Wrong. Money for reservations can be used for cash flow and to fund operations, but it cannot be classified as revenue until it becomes non-refundable. The article you quoted does confirm what I'm saying.

Right, but, Tesla has also had to list the same money in the liabilities column in their balance sheet as it's fully-refundable.

Wrong to tell *grisnjam* he's right. Tesla had to recognize the deposits as a liability; liabilities can't simultaneously be revenue. Think about it....when you bought your house did you count the mortgage loan you received as part of your gross income?

Sorry guys, loans go on the balance sheet not the P&L.

Sig S905 configured. Waiting on paperwork.

Sig red, white interior, carbon fiber, pano roof, performance wheels, paint armor, HPWC = $109,050. Just under the $120K I expected with prep, delivery, tax and license fees.

I picked the performace wheels becuase to me it makes me take note of the car and not the trim of the car. I've been checking every red car I've seen for six months trying to make sure I'll be happy. I'm definitely partial to darker wheels.
