I am P 9398. Given El Supreme's info, it appears that my original estimate of Apr/May delivery may be on target.

As I recall, the original lead time between finalizing and delivery was supposed to be 3 months. If Tesla asks me to finalize before year-end, it can be for only one reason that I can see: pull another $5K into 4Q2012 and lock in the $10K total. Not sure how I will react to that.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe your original deposit of $5000 becomes nonrefundable. You are not required to pay an additional $5000.

Kevin's right. Only the original $5K gets locked in; no additional payment's required. However, as per the accounting gurus on this site, Tesla can count the (original) $5K as true revenue now and remove the same from the liabilities column.

After two weeks of agonizing over colors and battery size between 40kWh and 60kWh (I had originally decided to go for the 60kWh when the first change happened showing Supercharger hw+sw was included free, even though 40kWh is more than enough for all of my driving, then couldn't get over having to pay $2000 for it after the change back) I finally just decided to say "F*** it" and placed an order for a car I won't second guess over. Here's what I signed an MVPA on:

P6300-ish

P85
Black
Black Performance Interior (red piping)
Carbon Fiber Trim
Panoramic Roof
Tech Package
Sound Studio Package
Active Air Suspension
21" Grey Wheels
Rear Jump Seats
Parcel Shelf

Pretty much decided to go the route I did ... all out. Well I didn't get the performance. Congrats.

Hello Everyone.

After reading every post on this forum multiple times I finally pulled the trigger and finalized my S early yesterday. I was thinking, that since I procrastinated I would get a Feb./March 2013 delivery. To my surprise my MVPA came with Nov, 2012 –Dec, 2012 expected delivery. How is that possible? I called my Tesla rep and he said that “yes, that is the real expected date”.

I haven’t signed my MVPA yet because I am thinking that I really would rather have a Feb/March delivery.

Question then is: When should I send in my MVPA if I truly want a March delivery? The Tesla rep said December but that doesn't feel right.

Reservation # 4346. 85 kWh, Grey, Pano, 19” wheels, Black Leather, Tech, Sound, Air suspension, and Parcel shelf.

Maybe because you live "close" to the plant and regional batches might be more common in the California area? I don't know.

But, I'm in the same boat and would prefer a specific delivery window, mainly because of a financial consideration as well as the fact that getting a delivery in Feb/Mar in the Chicago area might be overshadowed by snow, slush and a lot of rain.

Could you not arrange with your delivery specialist a later delivery window? I think this would be a nice touch if Tesla could do this. I'm sure that most want their cars ASAP, but there are probably a few who will want it later for many reasons.
