Legit video of M3 crash?

So much for all those automated safety features. The Tesla doesn't appear to slow down at all before the impact. It looks like the car drove through dust on the road rather than and tire smoke from braking.

Uh... no, it doesn't look like it "drove through dust"

it pretty clearly SLAMMED the brakes full to create that smoke... likely the emergency braking system because the driver wasn't paying attention.

Elektrek noted same in their report on this accident

In the video, it also appears that the driver or the emergency automatic braking system applied the brakes at the last second based on brake skid smoke appearing a moment before the crash

Either you're good at seeing things that aren't there, or the Model 3 locks up the brakes without slowing down one bit.

According to preliminary investigations by the Highway Police Bureau, the 53-year-old Tesla driver, Mr Huang, said that his car was on autopilot, and traveling at around 110 kilometers per hour at the time of the crash.

As soon as he saw the truck, he stepped on the brake, Mr Huang said. However, it was too late to stop the vehicle, and it crashed through the roof of the overturned truck.

Is it me, or does the front of the MOdel 3 look wrecked before the hit?

Why would this be a doctored video? It looks exactly like what you would expect to happen in a situation like this. Fortunately it was a soft truck and moved substantially on impact, which helped mitigate collision forces.

Watch out for those stationary objects, folks. You should not expect the car to stop for them.

Not relieving the driver of any responsibility but, if that was the truck driver standing on the shoulder, why hadn’t he put out triangles? Assuming latest firmware, that might’ve helped.

That said, driver/car didn’t brake until abeam pedestrian which was way too late.

Still don’t understand the solid object issue of system can discern a cone on its side (and avoid it) these days. What’s the point of radar and cameras if they’re not going to collaborate to recognize an immovable object in the path? Forget FSD, safety features for incapacitated drivers help everyone sharing the road.

In the meantime, I’ve got ankle pain from having to hover over the accelerator in expectation of phantom braking and incorrect speed limit changes because I’m not given the option of dumb cruise control on empty highways.

(Oh, and doesn’t look like pre-accident damage just a low res camera. Why does every video need a soundtrack?!?)
