LR RWD Waiting Room

In that doc, what's the difference between silver and gray? Is silver the color you can't order and gray is the midnight silver metallic?

Based on pricing, there aren't any cars that match my config, but with higher pricing there is. I wish the spreadsheet showed all the options. I think there may be one or two in Arizona or New York, but again I can't be sure.

If they have an inventory car that is not in Fremont, meaning at some location, like say Arizona or New York, would they use those to fill orders somewhere else...like say Atlanta...or do they stay in their region and the Atlanta order gets a new car from the factory?

I actually don't care about a end of 2018 car vs. a brand new one built this month, as long as it's actually new and doesn't have any miles on it. I am super anxious to get the car

i think you're correct, silver is the discontinued color. To somewhat answer your question, when i spoke to the OA before the price drop about an inventory LR RWD that was quite far from me, he said that they would tack on a $2K delivery charge. So I imagine tesla would be reluctant to transport a car and just leave it until sold.

btw, i wouldn't trust this inventory as it hasn't been updated in over 2 weeks

RWD LR will require a new batch of cars to be run. They need to fit this in between batches of cars for China, Europe and batches of SR,SR+,MR,AWD and Performance. So I am hoping we will get VINs in 3-4 weeks. I just received my eBay purchase of signature wall a charger. Will get that installed and ready for the M3 RWD LR.
As long g as I get our car befor June 30th I will be happy. I will be really happy if we get it before May.

Substitute "RWD LR" in your first sentence for any other model, and I think your observation would apply to any other model, no?

So I ordered my white/black sport LR on Monday 3/4, at that time the website said within two weeks, is that realistic? The dealership I visited the same day said it’s a pretty typical color combo and they should be able to make the two weeks. Not sure who to believe but I ordered this car based on their website estimates.

I think it applies more for RWD LR, SR and SR+ as they most likely weren’t running production batches of them before the announement. I would think you would have a better shot of a AWD sooner then the newly released or re-released models. But, I could be wrong in my thoughts on the matter.

Still no 2019 VIN .

Ordered 3/2.
Blue w/ black interior
18 Aero
AP, no FSD

Trade in offer received 3/3 (accepted), no updates past that. No VIN yet.

Assuming it will take 2-4 weeks, and assuming it will be a 2019 model. If they had 2018 stock for LR RWD, probably would have pushed it out pretty quick.

Hurry up and wait..
Be very careful with your trade in if this is your only driver. You cannot go more than 1000 miles over the mileage you gave for trade in value.
We'll barely make it to pick up our car tomorrow without going over. Red of course, Red is faster right!!

If Tesla delays longer than the timeframe they quote, that is on them. I told my delivery specialist I have a road trip scheduled and if I don't have my new car by then, and they have a problem with the 400 extra miles I put on my trade, that is their problem. I can't not drive while I wait for them to figure out their production schedule

I don't necessarily buy that. We may not have known that RWD or SR/SR+ were coming so soon, but Tesla did. They could've very easily been manufacturing any combination of those prior to announcing their availability, particularly the RWD

I went to pick up my 2019 MR car today but it had some really bad gaps in the body panels so I had to reject it. It was an inventory car and I think it probably had already been rejected by someone else, which is why they likely had it in inventory.

So I had no alternative but to place a brand new order. I decided to go with the LR model instead of the MR. Black, no options, no AP. I was told it would definitely be within 2 weeks, but who knows.

While it is a smaller chance, there is still a chance that you might get an 2018 built inventory/demo LR.

I told them I was open to a 2018 model for a discount but if I’m going to pay full price I expect a 2019 model. So they know not to match me to a 2018 at this point.

We just bought an M3 LR RWD in December and had the same delivery coordinator so he knew us well and went out of his way to make sure I get what I want.

Ordered yesterday LR/AWD, just got a text stating I can pick it up in 5 days, in Indianapolis.....WOW!

LR AWD is kind of a different bucket, since that has been available for order for a while now. The LR RWD wasn't available for order from Oct 2018 until now. Some people may get offered 2018 LR RWD models which have been bouncing around, otherwise the rest of us are presumably waiting for a new batch. Hard to predict the waiting game now, since production rates are higher but more models and markets are in the mix.

I'm wondering if they have possibly built up somewhat of an inventory of them, even though they weren't selling them they knew when they planned to start selling again

Given the flurry of SR+ vin assignments, it sounds like Tesla is producing and assigning vehicles in batches based on trim level. So, for this past week, I think Tesla focused almost exclusively on manufacturing SR+s. If that is the case, it doesn't seem like any LR RWDs have been mass produced yet. Unclear whether they will turn to these next week or few weeks from now :(
