LR RWD Waiting Room

So, now i got my VIN, i was so excited, called Tesla, and got ripped apart. Apparently, you cannot by-pass the Delivery process. Just because you have a VIN, doesn't mean you can push the process forward, let alone Tesla folks. It now needs to go the Delivery team, where someone will call you to tell you when your AUTO-GENERATED delivery date is. I asked, since i'm picking up in Fremont, if can get the car today. She laughed. She said they have no control over the auto-generated date, and i MUST adhere to it. If you cannot, they will re-schedule you. So, i asked, how far out do they schedule local pick ups at Fremont. She said before, usually 1-2 days. But now due to the end of quarter push, it's been 3, 4, 5 days...

What a cluster this whole process is. I still can't get used to it. All about waiting and waiting. Before, you go to a dealership, test drive, sign paperwork and take home. period. Now, yet again.. i WAIT..

Ordered on 5/19 in Florida, LR RWD Blue/White, they changed my wheels to 19” for free but didn’t contact me about it. Just gonna let it slide...

Got my VIN this morning from my sales rep: 332803. Seems me and Skellington are neighbors.

The rep doesn’t know where the car is yet, but he’s actively looking. Hopefully website changes to “Pay Balance” soon.

Lol but you got it man! It's happening! Man crazy to see, this might be the last production ever for LR RWD, so we will literally be the last ones in this thread and ending it with success stories of our new cars!

I feel it's possible LR RWD will re-enter production once Tesla has split production between China/NA/EU. However, the cell shortage seems serious and goes all the way down to limits in lithium and natural resource collection.

Leaving the waiting room will be nice, that's for sure.

Although off topic, I don't really see why cancelling the LR RWD would make any sense. They only reason there is "standard range" is to attempt to meet a price point, and one of the main components of that price point is battery cost, which, in Tesla's case is a moving target heading lower, sort of like computer chips were (and are?).

IMO 300 miles is the key for range, a few years from now any car with less is going to be seen as limited, only in the sense that if a 300 mile range EV is available why by a used one in the 100 mile or 200 mile class? Sure, its a good second car for shorter needs, but from a manufacturing standpoint I would think as soon as Tesla can make all cars with a 300+ range battery they would do so.

Accordingly, I would think its not any of the LR models, but the SR's that will be discontinued.

Hopefully not a dumb question: Have some of you not had a VIN, and kept refreshing your account page, then poof! A VIN appears?

Mine still shows RN.. the only difference on my page now is
Please pay off your remaining balance prior to delivery

I asked Tesla about why the RN is not changing to VIN, plus was looking for the MVPA. They said they are having issues refreshing those screens, hence people think they haven't gotten their VINs yet, but in reality it's already there. The Source Code trick is the work around. As for the MVPA, once someone contact me, it's supposed to add the MVPA on the documents. so.. wait again.. :)

I called in scheduled, and got everything email. Needed it for my loan.

Found my VIN in the source code! 337xxx, ordered on 6/8. Super thrilled we will get this car before end of quarter.

Do I wait until the VIN officially shows up on my account (not just in source code) to ask about production date / HW3 / scheduling delivery?

Edit: apparently yes. Advisor told me the VIN wasn't in their system yet.

James88, that's what i'm trying to do, for i need it for my loan as well. That lady at Tesla told me i can't get it UNTIL a Delivery Advisor is assigned first, and a delivery date set, before they have access to those.. hence, she can't email it to me yet and i have to wait.

Did you get the copies, even before you had a delivery date? I want to bring the docs to my bank already so they can draft up the loan and i'll just sign it when ready and get the check.

With battery shortage they are probably just simplifing production and between SR+, LR AWD, and performance, LR AWD makes better profits for the battery amount

Came here thanks to the thread over on Reddit stating LR RWD has been canceled. I don't have a VIN yet.

Glad to see VINs are showing up today. When I talked to my delivery specialist yesterday, he gave me the impression VINs are released each morning. But from reading this thread, it seems like they are added throughout the day?

FWIW: I ordered 6/4. Black/Black. 18" Aero. AP, no FSD.
