M3P- . What is it, how to order it, etc.

Agreed BUT I can also pick up a set of the factory 18 wheels at a reasonable cost easily from owners who want custom or bigger wheels. The factory 18s will fit the Stealth.

Remember the factory 20 tires are not suppose to be used or even stored in cold weather. That meant that even if I wanted the 20s I would have to buy new tires or new custom wheels & tires for the cold seasons. If I used the factory 20’s in the cold and someone hit me their lawyer would probably blame my use of the tires.

The factory 20’s are also much heavier than either the 19s or 18s

The 19’s are $1500 more but isn’t the Performance + pkg $5k more? $3500 difference?
(Hard to keep track of Tesla prices)

Please note that I do like the look of the 20s but there are too many issues for my particular needs.

Depends on how cold the winters get. I certainly wouldn't use them below freezing, or in the snow or anything like that.

I've not really understood the heavier argument on a car that weighs 4,100lbs, either. I understand unsprung vs sprung weight, but even so - does the average 3P+ owner care about the weight of their wheels?

More choice is good, in any case.

I’m having the same dilemma. I found a P3D- with 19s and am about to pull the trigger but it’s only a $3500 difference to get a P3D+.

Potholes and cold weather are a way of life for 5-6 months a year here so I will be using a winter setup. The 19s in the summer and 18s in the winter are appealing. I wish they had engineered them to go over the performance brakes to begin with.

Now Tesla has finally priced these cars so folks are on the fence and up-selling themselves. That is how it is supposed to work. :D

If you plan to hit the track or carve the corners a bit then you will probably appreciate the upgraded brakes and sticky PS4 tires. If you just like to punch it onto a highway on-ramp from time to time then probably not worth it unless you just like the cosmetics of the 20"s, red calipers and spoiler. That said, in my mind you are already spending 50k+ so why settle if you really want the P3D+. Just bite the bullet and get it. :D

If you like to punch it on curved on-ramps, the 20s all the way.

Hoping you guys can help with some guidance here. How do I go about ordering? I asked my local OA about ordering a P3D- with 19" wheels and she was clueless. She just kept referring back to the website to order from there.

TAKE MY MONEY! I'm ready to pull the trigger, just need to understand how to get the vehicle found and deposit placed.

I'm located in Colorado if anyone has a recommended contact in the state.

Thank you all in advance!

Either get a new OA or ask her to find an inventory car that meets your specs. The key is "Performance but 19" wheels." Many of the newer OAs don't understand "P3D-". Once she finds the car, she will send you a link to order it - it will have the VIN directly on the URL. Tell her to look all around the country, you don't care about the location. She may come back and ask for a $1k or even $2k delivery fee.

More experienced OAs will match an inventory car to your custom build order, but it gets more complicated with cars that are outside your region.

If this was helpful, add “?referral=john85775” to the end of the URL you receive from your OA and you'll get the 1000 miles of supercharger credit. ;)

Thanks John. From what I've read so far, they're all inventory cars. Nothing comes up on the inventory search online. So it's likely that i'll have to pay extra for them to deliver the car from outside my region?

If you go back through the thread a few pages (I'm going to try and find them, too) you'll see a post or two of someone stating that they know a SR knowledgeable enough to find you a P3D-.

Forgot to say... I had zero luck trying to find one in existing inventory myself. Only my SR could find them for me.

If you happen to be within about 500 miles of Las Vegas, I know a rep that can help you out.

have these P- models ever been searchable online? They’ve never come up for me I thought it was internal systems that could pull these up.

I would recommend you try working with a sales advisor rather than OA, in my experience the sales folks are a lot more informed about the details of models, trims and ordering. I’ll pm you my sales contact, he’s an excellent guy and will point you in the right direction - I’m on the Canadian side so I don’t believe he can match you (maybe? He pulled up US cars when we searched) but he will put you in contact with someone who can get this done.

The website inventory is out of date, incorrect and often doesn't have inventory cars that are visible to Tesla employees. To test this, I was sent 3-4 VINs that closely matched my needs of available cars. I then separately tried to search for those same cars using the website and inputting the zip code of the local service center. Needless to say, they didn't show up yet they were available (and I ended up ordering one that was in Nashville that I'm picking up in CA tomorrow).

Be flexible on colors (and perhaps willingness to do the 18" aeros) and you'll get your car.

I am posting this in the hopes that it helps some of you find a P- if that is what you are looking for. I recently took delivery of a LR AWD. Before delivery I was offered what my delivery specialist called a "sleeper" for a $2,000 upcharge. It turns out the "sleeper" is what everyone here is referring to as a P-. Not sure if this is just lingo used by the local service center or if it is used company-wide. As an FYI, I asked a few questions about this topic when I took delivery. The specialist told me they are not aware of any instances in which they have upgraded software on a LR AWD to make it a "sleeper" but they do have the ability and have in fact downgraded a "sleeper" to sell it as a LR AWD. For what it's worth the specialist commented they would not be surprised if a LR AWD could be upgraded via softer to a "sleeper".

Yes "sleeper", P3D- , performance with 18" wheels, performance with 19" wheels are all the same car.
No one is certain about the ability to software update a regular AWD due to possible different parts, but yes a P3D- can be downgraded via software and sold as a regular AWD.
The online inventory systems, Telsa's own and EVO-CP does not and has not ever listed these cars so a Sales Person at Telsa is your only way to find them.
Clearly some were delivered to every showroom location but no one knows if that was a one time limited run or if they are making more?

If you guys want to order P3D- you have to contact your nearest service center and get somebody on phone or visit in person. There are still plenty of them out there. Might be hard to find all configs especially white color with black interior and Aero. Reps can see the inventory in their system.

Picked up mine today. Don’t waste your time searching on Tesla’s inventory.

And yes it has track mode. So much debate on that part as well.

Ask for Stuart in the Littleton location. He found one for us in Utah and I had it a week later at no extra charge for transporting to Colorado.

If you want pm me, and I will pass on his contact information.
