Your right, I didnt notice that he said "the app" hasnt started working. The tesla app wont start working until after delivery. They dont want people remote starting / playing with the car before its actually been delivered.

I was thinking for some reason that he said that the car did not show in the tesla ACCOUNT (as in no vin in the tesla account). The app not working is as expected. Thanks for the correction!

Oh weird...I've seen a whole bunch of YouTube videos of home deliveries and people saying on FB groups that they were able to actually see and track their car to their house using the app on the day of delivery! Thought that was the norm...

Maybe home delivery is different... I picked up from a delivery center, and was checking my tesla account (I had signed up for it before like a lot do). I didnt see the car in my account till the delivery specialist took my payments and came back. I asked him about it, and I actually had to log out of the app then back into it to have it show up.

The delivery specialist was the one who told me what I said above ("we dont turn it on until you pick up to prevent people messing around with it, etc). Maybe its up to a specific location / delivery person?

Makes sense. I was also wondering it was related to home deliveries which are being driven from a local store to the persons home (rather than delivered on a truck). Maybe the delivery person has some remote way to activate the car etc, but I was assuming it was activated at the store and then just driven to the home delivery location.

oh oh oh!!!! The app just changed, literally 10 mins before my delivery window starts! I no longer see the "welcome to the family" splash screen" and I now see the full app, but all of the controls are disabled and it says "Mobile Access Disabled". I guess that's how they deal with home deliveries :) Hopefully this means the car is on it's way woohoo!

Yes! I got a call from the store about 30 mins before my delivery window ended just to let me know that they were on their way. Delivery was very smooth, didn't feel rushed, and to my relief the car looks absolutely flawless :):):) Very happy and everyone I worked with at the Bellevue WA store really did do all they could to help make things work out.

There is an option in the car settings to disable mobile access to the car. For home delivery it looks like they've been told to turn that on before they start driving over :) At least the customer can still use the phone app to tell when they enable the data connection for the car, which is a good hint that the car is about to head your way.

I hope as many people as possible get their cars before EOY and have a similar delivery experience to this. It makes it all worth it!

Success! I arrived about 20 minutes early for my appointment at the San Diego distribution center and was told the car was in final detailing. I signed the papers, they topped off the charge, gave me the rundown on the car and we were off. It probably took all of 15 minutes from the time my appointment actually began.

From what I can tell I’ve got a nearly pristine Midnight Silver Model 3 Mid Range, built 12/2018. I’ve definitely noticed there’s extra force required to shut the doors compared to other cars I’ve owned. The sound system is excellent, and the ride is smooth and silent, which I was worried about after reading some reviewers complain about road noise and/or harsh ride. The car is plenty powerful and quick. Not face-melting quick but everything I wanted and more. (It’s hard to believe that this is the SLOWEST Tesla!)

To my relief, the initial cosmetic quality seems to be really good. I’m not planning to take calipers to the panel gaps but they look entirely acceptable to my critical eye. I did find an ultra-minor blip in the paint on the rear deck lid that is only visible when the light hits it just so. In fact, when I tried to show it to my wife later on I was completely unable to find it. Aside from that everything looks great.

I even found a Model 3 scale model in the storage bin, which I thought was only for early reservation holders. Very cool!View attachment 363757
Love that color! Mine is red, but that would be my second choice, with blue likely third. Very nice.

Finally took delivery! I have always tried to be conservative with vehicle costs and I currently own my ICE outright so I was a little nervous to take the plunge and take on the cost. I removed EAP and FSD after a big internal debate, I decided to wait for Autopilot to mature and use that money elsewhere in the meantime. I won’t lose too much in waiting given the ownership tax I would have paid if I rolled it into the MSRP. It also gives me some features to look forward to in the future!

Delivery process was overall a breeze, I didn’t do a full inspection tonight as it was getting dark and cold and they assured me I had three days like everyone here said. Only thing I noticed were scratches on the center console where they were laying the key cards. Anyone else have this at delivery and ask them to replace it? Not sure what to do, I understand it scratches if you look at it wrong but I had planned to keep it pristine with a wrap. The piano gloss black looks great but it just isn’t functional.

I’m currently charging on a normal 120 outlet until I can get a permanent solution installed when I get my referral prize, I’m getting about 5 miles/hr.

Oh and no diecast 3s left here in Colorado.

Took delivery yesterday of my white LEMR with 19” wheels at the San Diego delivery center. The car was detailed in and out and in perfect condition. The delivery specialist was patient and explained all aspects of the car. This was my first time sitting in the car and my first time driving an EV ever!

Fantastic experience and way better than slimy car dealerships.

The car is very fast and feels like it is on rails..... can’t even imagine P version.

Congratulations! regarding the center console, my thought on it is, if you are going to wrap it anyway and cover it up, why have the service center take it apart and possibly introduce other rattles / squeaks etc?

You will never see the scratches under a wrap, so it basically becomes a non issue if you were planning to wrap it anyway. You could likely get them to do something (I am not sure what they would need to do), but in my opinion you want to limit the amount of disassembly done on your car. Thats with any car, not just teslas.

Anyway, congrats again!

Nice photo! Excited for you and love reading how people take the plunge into EVs without even driving them first and then love it when they do. Really is a game changer and of course I've been partial to Tesla since we got our MS :D.

Quiet around here the last few days, hopefully everyone is busy with the holidays and their LeMRs! Autopilot 30 day trial came up today and I accepted it. I haven’t used Autopilot since I test drove a S a few years ago, I was a little surprised how frequent the bags are compared to what I had remembered.

Yeah. The nags are every 20 seconds, but don’t forget you can use the scroll wheel to respond to each nag.

It's only every 20 seconds if you have your hands off of the wheel (which, of course, you shouldn't). They've gotten the hand detection to be much better in my experience over the past 4 or 5 months, to the point that I'm surprised whenever I get the prompt since it's so rare.

so nobody was left behind? i read they have about 3,000 cars left over strewn about the US, not sure how accurate that is though obviously.

glad to hear everyone seems to have gotten their cars! congrats to all!

I mean that's pretty much only half a week of production, which is actually insanely impressive if it's that low.

Congrats on everyone on the wait!
