No didn’t happen to me. Which sc did you want to pick up from. Do you already have a delivery date?
Yeah, I texted the number back that sent me my 12/12 at home delivery date.

They said:
Hello R, I could have a pick up arranged, but it could be up to 8 weeks with it being short notice. Does that sound ok?

and I replied saying it didnt make sense, I shouldnt have to wait 8 weeks to get it dropped off at a SC

Then they said:
If there is a car that matches your configuration then it can be done much faster, if it's not a matching configuration that's why we have to give notice. I do apologize as well Mr. P, I just want to make sure I let you know in advanced so it would allow you to plan accordingly is all.

Then I said do not change my order or delivery date and they stopped responding.

Like wtf? Should I just call in?

I have another theory about what is happening with Tesla and the Model 3 MR. If you look at the orders in the “M3 tracking Spreadsheet“ there is a significant drop after October 31 based upon Tesla’s original e-mail requesting everyone order the cars by end of October to guarantee the EOY delivery. Elon is seeing the same numbers and after realizing the initial surge is slowing will leave Tesla with excess Model 3 capacity before year end so he came out with the “order by end of November” still guaranteeing the EOY delivery. However after his December delivery tweet very few additional orders have been placed per the same M3 order tracking spreadsheet.

So my guess is we do not need to worry as much about our EOY deliveries as Tesla needs to be concerned about having significantly more manufacturing capacity than the market will purchase. Tesla wants to deliver every car ordered as much as we want to receive them to bump up their 4th Qtr. revenue. Tesla will sooner than advertised open up orders for the SR to get another surge but with the tax rebate reduction I am guessing the future demand will be lower than the number Tesla needs to sell to utilize their capacity efficiently and profitably into the near future.

Over half of the demand for Tesla vehicles is not in the US, and they aren't yet shipping anywhere outside of the US/Canada. And most international markets don't have tax credits to worry about, or have credits that are not expiring anytime soon. On top of that, over half of the Model 3 demand is in the short range version (if Model 3 follows similar price v. volume models of all other cars). I'm actually quite surprised they sold some 100k Model 3's in North America before they needed a new demand lever.

I'm sure the December delivery strategy was to prevent cancellations from happening with MR orders, as well as to help bridge the gap until international deliveries begin heavily in Q1 2019. Personally I would have canceled this week if not for the December delivery update.

Oh yeah that’s weird. Definitely try calling. Though I don’t know how much the general customer service people will help. They always defer to your advisor. How far are you from the sc?

To add some positive news to the thread...
Got my VIN today: 1517XX
  • Black/Black/Aero/EAP
  • 10/18 Order.
  • Day 1 Reservation.
Finalized my financing, and insurance, paid my downpayment ACH.
My car is now in the area, but the first pickup appointment is next week, 11/29.
I was warned that I may end up going to the SC, doing my paperwork and then having the car dropped off at my home later. We'll see!

Black/black with 18” wheels with EAP
atlanta ga
Ordered 10/31
First delivery notice was set for 12/11
Second updated delivery text is now scheduled for 12/7
I called the main number and talked to a nice young lady and she said my car is still in transit going to the compound in Alabama and will then delivered to my local service center. She also updated my financing info to 3rd party and now I can pay the difference through ACH. No final MVPA yet which will be needed for my CU to wire the money over. The rest I assume I can pay with personal check on the day of delivery.

Hello Tesla gang! This is my very first post.

I'm sorta beginning to get worried as well regarding my MR. Ordered on 10/19. I keep checking the account, but the edit button is still there, no VIN assigned, no contact by specialist. Really hoping that things pick up next week.

Question for those who have already taken delivery. When your purchase order is ready, how do you receive it? Will they email it? Send a text message that it is available in your account? Or did you just open your account and it was there?

Also, how far in advance of delivery did you receive the actual purchase agreement?

Thank you!

Update on this: After 4 calls in to Tesla today, I finally received my final paperwork and made it to the bank before they closed. Got my loan check and all set for 11/25 delivery.

Everyone at Tesla I spoke with today seemed very helpful, but I kept getting told I would receive the paperwork in 1-2 hours. That got really old after the 3rd person told me that and it still didn’t happen. I’m 100% positive I would not have received the paperwork had I not pushed for it today. All turned out well in the end though. Just a stressful day before the holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving to all :)

You can like a company and hold them accountable for their mistakes. It's okay, the world won't end.
There is no mistake to hold them accountable for,

I have custom ordered two cars, a Porsche, and a Mercedes. For one the only notification I got was when it was loaded on a boat in Europe, the other I was notified when it arrived at my dealer. There should be no expectation that Tesla should tell you their production schedule. In fact because they are a public company they are restricted by the SEC on what production information they can divulge. The couple of whiners here just have unrealistic expectations.

If they’re still taking orders for MidRange Model 3 with white interior and promising Dec delivery for these new orders then I’d say they should be held accountable to fill and order from a months ago.

Still no word on white interior Model 3s. I talked to the local delivery guys and he seemed confident that I’d get the car. I guess we’ll see.

Yes there is.

Sorry that you have very low expectations for customer service.

Finally got my VIN and MVPA. But no delivery date yet.
In Texas we have to pay total cost upfront even before they ship from California to Texas !!!!!
Hi freyam3, fellow Texan here. Thanks to you posts, I changed my "payment method" to "cash", and now my status shows "We are drafting up your contract". I guess I am not missing anything else, from my side now. How long did it take for you from that point, for the VIN# to show up on you account-page ?

Day 1 reservation; ordered 10/19; Black exterior, White interior; Aero-Wheels; no-EAP; Austin-TX.

Been on this thread for a while but never posted. Short version of my ordering process below (it won’t seem like the short version but it is)

Placed Mid-Range M3 order 10.22.18
White/White/19”/No EAP

People on this thread kept freaking out about white interior not shipping but it was only Mid-Range white interior that was slow. I still believe all those orders will be fulfilled as stated by Elon.

However, I really wanted AWD so I changed my order on 11.19.18 to Long Range AWD White/White/19”/No EAP

I instantly (like the second I clicked the button) got a text for trade in evaluation and a call from my DA (Rudy) saying they had a car ready for me to pick up next day in Kansas City. Rudy said it was getting off a train in Chicago as we speak.

I had a flight out to Seattle from 11.20-11.28 and we hadn’t finished the trade in stuff yet so I was fine waiting. I had already secured financing.

They turned the Trade In Eval around in 24 hours and Rudy got them to go $1,000 higher than their original offer.

He recommended home delivery when I get home so he is fedexing me some paperwork here in Seattle and then I’ll wire the money for a home delivery at the end of November.

My cars birthday is 11.09.18. Nobody had ever been assigned my VIN (I double checked with Rudy just to make sure it hadn’t been rejected or something).

Seems like it was part of a batch that never got assigned.

Excited to pick it up. Already have Wall Charger installed, all weather floor mats, etc.

Makes no sense. I ordered my white interior MR before you, so Tesla shouldn't have taken your white interior MR order before filling mine.

Seriously?

Tesla is not even allowed to take other customers' orders until you personally have your car in your hand? What sort of attitude is that?

Yes there is.

Sorry that you have very low expectations for customer service.

I had a Mercedes custom order for a niche car that went five months without an update, and that update was that the car was horribly delayed. I think what they is saying that Tesla is matching average industry expectations.

Can Tesla be better than the industry at customer service? Sure. Is it unrealistic to expect that such a young car company is better at customer service than century-old giants? I would say so. Tesla is going to have customer service issues. They're going to have long wait times to get service appointments. They're going to have supercharger waits at times. If you aren't prepared for this current wait and see state of communication, then I'll be honest that this car is probably not for you. They are a brand new company with a completely different set of goals and ideals compared to the rest--there will be some huge negatives that go along with that. That same innovative, rapid chaos at Tesla though is the exact same reason why you have a Tesla and not a Bolt, superchargers instead of nothing, and OTA updates instead of stagnation. Set your expectations appropriately and truly evaluate whether you are prepared for the entire Tesla ownership experience with all of its positives and pitfalls.
