Wiki Model S Delivery Update

hmm....

My delivery is in 16 hrs. I just got a generic Delivery Instruction email. It almost sounds like this is a "touchless", aka self pick up?!?

Has anyone else experienced this? I was under the impression that S are in person pick up only, i.e., there will be a sales person?

Numerous examples in the last 82000 posts.

Still not too late to prepare a checklist, watch the delivery and operation vids linked on the app.

Hope you did not prepay, or accept home delivery. If you did, you probably will be fine, as quality has improved recently, but if not, you have less options.

If you are not comfortable with how things are going, request a delivery delay of up to three days, and deliver at the store.

Thanks. I guess my biggest mess-up is prepaid. What options do I still have at this point? I haven't officially accepted the delivery - can I still reject?

Picked up mine a few hours ago. Had to find my car in the parking lot, accept terms in the app then sign papers in the car and bring the papers to a desk. I then head back to my car to get familiar with it on my own and drive away when ready.

Got to say it was my worst car buying and pickup experience.

First, realize Tesla is not exactly Transparent when it comes to the delivery process, or anything else, frankly. That's why these message boards are here. It's not your fault you expected then to act like the industry leader they are.

Even so, you have options. If your have concerns, delay delivery, make some excuse. Put the order on hold, give up the vin. Change delivery options to the Store or SvC, and inspect the car inside and out. If they say they can't open the car for you, call BS and threaten to Cancel. If all else fails, cancel and reorder, you are only out a few bucks and a few months.

Ok, others have reported the same. But, how was the drive home?

Picked up wife’s MYP couple of Fridays ago in Camarillo. Very energetic young man (Yuri?) was running around making sure everyone was taken care of. Cars were well spaced out and our car was pristine. Best car buying experience? Nope. But certainly top 3. First 2 Teslas were the best but that was Pre-Covid and things were handled differently then.

Hang in there. The vehicle will make it all worthwhile.. Honest!

Are you saying we don’t have to pay until we accept the car? If you are not financing, what kind of payments do they accept?

I accepted home delivery. Why is that a problem?

Same here - worst and doesn't match the car's price tag. Had to surrender the cashiers check and accept before I could unlock the doors and discover the issues with it. When I brought up the missing trunk floor cover they brushed it off dismissively as needing to be fixed by service appointment, several weeks later.

It didn't feel like the delivery specialists are incentived for customer satisfaction at all. But I guess we already knew that - no part of this buying experience has felt that way. To those still waiting - hang in there! The car is a marvel but unfortunately it seems the wait and subpar customer service are part of the price of admission.
