We took delivery yesterday (10/17/12) of Mary's new Model S! VIN# 265: Sig Red, Performance, 21" Silver wheels, rear CF spoiler, pano roof, black interior w/red piping, 85kWh.

The red Tesla Roadster now has a younger twin sister!

Congrats and nice photos. That flat bed looks just like the one from the Tesla plant parking lot in the photos from the guy who went there to get his car and it wasn't ready last weekend. (sorry, forgot the name or I'd post a link to the photo/thread)

Yeah, that doesn't jive with what George actually said:

Emphasis is mine. He's referring to MVPA's from SSLs and early S's that had listed delivery dates of Sept. 2012 but received their vehicles this month, as indicated in the 2nd sentence. There was a recent 1-2 week delay, which further confused things. Although, it appears this is not a production-impacting delay, as they are still building cars while they store the 99% complete ones waiting for parts.

Your 10/19-11/2 range should be accurate. I think the rep just needs to clear things up with management.

I was with you until the end. [...]

I'd assume all delivery windows given before yesterday at not valid, unless your delivery specialist has told you it's actually on a truck on its way from the factory.

As I have stated here, I agree with Tim that an automatic 4-6 weeks delay has not been added to all Signature reservations. However, regarding his last sentence suggesting that Baltimore's delivery window hasn't changed, I'm afraid I have to agree with Arnold that seems unlikely to me.

I believe there is now a delay of at least two weeks for certain configurations. Baltimore Tesla and I have virtually the same configuration with everything the same except for his tan versus my white interior. It is therefore inconsistent for his delivery specialist to tell him that his delivery window is moved back 4-6 weeks and mine to say 2 weeks.

Assuming that there are no additional delays that are unforeseen by Tesla at this time, I'm betting that we both get our cars in late November since our reservation numbers are also quite close and we both are on the East Coast.

I'm surprised we haven't figured out what configuration/part exactly is causing delays. Obeche gloss? Obeche matte? tan or white leather?
Seems like the black interiors are making it out ok, seeing cinergi's car and scottefe's recent delivery. I also saw vin#380 on Oct 11 that is a sig red, non perf, black interior with piano black trim and pano roof.

Your gallery has a great shot of the front license plate holder. I hope you don't mind me reposting it here.

I am curious about the delivery method.

It seems as though some are delivered by a large 18-wheeler type truck, while others are delivered by a van on a trailer in single fashion. If there is a service store nearby, are they delivered by the latter technique?

Yes, but they don't necessarily need a Tesla store or service center nearby. Tesla could temporarily rent space at strategically located facilities for storage and detailing before delivering the car to the customer. In such cases they would use a single trailer. I believe that is what Tesla is doing here in Florida in the Tampa area prior to opening the new Tampa service center. This will save them a lot of time and expense shuttling cars back and forth across the state.

Looks great overall; almost looks sunset red!

I think by itself, the license plate holder looks OK. In IL, that's going to be an ugly old white plate... :crying:

Makes sense. Thanks, L.

I don't think its Obeche. A friend received his car with no delays.

I think the flat bed trailer is the new "standard issue" for Tesla. There's one just like it at the service center in Costa Mesa.

LOVE the photo's, Scott! BTW, also like the title of the song on the 17" display ("Not all Who Wander are Lost") Seems appropriate, somehow.....

Enjoy the new ride!

I am starting to feel like you get an 18 wheeler, basically a 3rd party shipper, in states that have messed up dealer laws (e.g. Texas, Mass, Georgia, etc.). I think states where Tesla is allowed to sell cars you get the Tesla single car trailer. At least that is my current theory.

Beautiful!!! Just in time for the rainy season, but at least delivery day and thru today were good.

After seeing the email from GB on the "4-6 week delay" I emailed my new delivery specialist to determine if this delay was in addition to the delays already announced.

My delivery window had been pushed out last week to October 19-November 2. Today I received a reply that in part said:

"There is a delay in the production of your Model S, and with existing conditions, it could possibly be as long as 4-6 weeks from the end of your current stated delivery window (October 19-November 2). I certainly hope that the full delay won’t come to pass for your Model S!"

That means that my window is now November 30-December 14. This doesn't square with other posts I have seen on this and the TM forums but I wonder if others are seeing this as well. Anyone else get this response or does my new rep need to be educated?

S1299 VIN 668
red perf, tan interior, CF decor, pano, no kid seats

So I checked in with my delivery specialist again today and he confirmed my revised additional 4-6 week delay, moving my window to 11/30-12/14. My take on this is that it has nothing to do with parts shortages or quality issues on my car and everything to do with the fact that I'm the last known Sig holder with a number of S1299.

Given all the heat that Tesla has taken in this and the TM forums from Sig placeholders that haven't even got a delivery window yet, I believe they are making an attempt to revise the delivery sequence to more closely track our "S" numbers. I see deliveries of low Sig numbers not impacted at all, but those with numbers of S1000+ seeing more substantial delays. Since I'm at the end of the line it means that I won't get my car until just before the P holders start to take delivery. This may be the case even though I got a VIN number (668) two weeks ago so my car was clearly in the production line. I envision my car sitting in the parking lot at the Tesla factory waiting until all the earlier Sig Teslas are delivered, all to confirm GB's comments in his email about taking the delivery sequence seriously.

There is one problem, however, and it could be a big one. If I don't get my car till mid-December, and assuming I'm the last Sig made, and further assuming that no P's will be delivered until all the Sigs are delivered, I can't imagine how Tesla will get even close to 2500-3000 deliveries in 2012 if it takes three months to deliver the first 1000. If I'm right, for all of you with low P numbers hoping to take delivery in 2012, keep up with my posts about any future changes for a clue about whether or if you'll get your car this year.

I can't really complain, as I am S1299. But I am certainly frustrated as I was so close.

First, sorry about your delay. Believe me, I understand the feeling that you're Charlie and Lucy keeps pulling the ball away as you go to kick the ball.

On your point at the end, it's still theoretically possible to hit 3000 for the year. At full capacity, they should be able to pump out 2000 cars in a month, so if your car is finished at the end of November (and assuming you are Sig 1000), then they can do 2000 cars in December to hit 3000 for the year. Keep in mind, it takes 7-10 days (at a minimum) to get the car cross-country, so if they hit your delivery window, almost by definition it has to be finished and on its way by the end of November for you to get the car inside the window.

This is wildly optimistic because it assumes there are no additional delays, and they're operating at full capacity by the end of November, neither of which I would bet much money on at this point. But maybe Tesla will catch some good luck going forward.

I believe this is correct. Here in PA I had be present and sign for the car with the trucking company. The Tesla delivery person could not accept the vehicle from them and deliver it to me. The vehicle also had to be paid in full prior to shipping and arrived with a California temporary registration and all paperwork needs to be sent to me.
